Law, Black And Daly Start Nicky Law, Ian Black and Jon Daly have all been named in the Rangers starting XI for today’s Ramsdens Cup Final against Raith Rovers at Easter Road. The experienced trio were all doubts in the build-up to the big game but they have been given the all-clear to play which is a massive boost for the Light Blues as they look to win the Cup for the first time in the club’s history. In total Ally McCoist makes four changes to the side that started against Arbroath at Gayfield Park eight days ago. Bilel Mohsni, who was suspended last weekend, returns to the Gers backline in place of Seb Faure while Robbie Crawford drops out with Black playing alongside Kyle Hutton in the centre of midfield. Arnold Peralta misses today's game because of bookings he received in previous rounds and it is Stevie Smith who takes the Honduran’s place. Up top Nicky Law gets the nod ahead of Nicky Clark with the Englishman expected to play in the hole between the midfield and Rangers' top scorer Jon Daly. ...
RANGERS will welcome four players back into their squad this weekend when they face Arbroath in their latest League One fixture at Ibrox. Ian Black and Arnold Peralta are both free to play once again after serving respective one and two-match suspensions recently. Goalkeeper Cammy Bell is also available again after missing Monday’s trip to Forfar because he became a father in the hours before the match. Added to that, left-back Stevie Smith is fit once more having sat out the last four matches against Airdrieonians, Stenhousemuir, East Fife and the Loons. The 28-year-old hurt his knee in the early stages of the 4-0 win over Dunfermline at East End Park on December 30 and was replaced in the second half by Lewis Macleod. Smith returned to full training on Tuesday though and he has shown manager Ally McCoist enough to be considered for the meeting with the Red Lichties. Four other players are still sidelined but McCoist’s selection worries have certainly eased a lot. Ross Perry has resumed running again ...
Scottish League One: Forfar v Rangers team news Last Updated: 20/01/14 10:55am Rangers boss Ally McCoist fears striker Nicky Clark could be out for as long as seven weeks after a scan showed he has fractured his right foot. Clark suffered severe bruising to the foot in the 1-0 win at Airdrie on January 2 Suspended midfield duo Ian Black and Arnold Peralta will also miss Monday night's League One clash with Forfar as well as Steven Smith (ankle), Chris Hegarty (ankle), Kyle Hutton (broken leg) and Ross Perry (ankle). But David Templeton (thigh), Lewis Macleod (calf) and Dean Shiels (arm) have shaken off knocks and are in the frame after taking part in full training.
Rangers 2 East Fife 0 Scottish League One, Ibrox Stadium Saturday 11th January 2014 Match Report by Liam Thomson East Fife were left to rue several missed chances as they lost 2-0 against Rangers at Ibrox. The Fifers however can take great heart from the performance they produced in front of a crowd of just over 42,000 spectators. Going into the match league leaders Rangers were without Nicky Clark, Lewis Macleod, Steven Smith and David Templeton through injury whilst Arnold Peralta was suspended. Ally McCoist was able though to select Bilel Mohsni who returned after serving a ban. Gary Naysmith had almost a full squad to pick from apart from youngster Nathan Austin who failed to recover in time from the ankle knock he took in last week’s fixture at Bayview against Arbroath. On the last occasion the Methil side visited Govan they lost a goal in less than sixty seconds and unfortunately they made another inauspicious start to this match. In the 5th minute, Rangers were awarded a corner kick following an ...
Black Misses Cup Tie Ian Black will miss tomorrow’s Scottish Cup third round tie with Airdrieonians as he serves a suspension carrying over from last season. The midfielder was sent off in the 3-0 defeat to Dundee United in the last 16 of the event at Tannadice. He consequently serves a ban against the Diamonds and that creates an opening in the side for someone else to come in. Kyle Hutton has featured a couple of times as a substitute recently against Brechin and East Fife and he could make his first start of the campaign. Arnold Peralta could also drop back into a deeper role to allow the likes of Andy Little or Robbie Crawford to feature on the right side of the usual more advanced midfield three. Elsewhere, Ross Perry is undergoing surgery on his ankle in London today in order to finally get him back on the road to recovery. All being well, he will be expected to start running again in about 12 weeks as he looks to put around 18 months of injury problems behind him once and for all. Chris Hegarty i ...

Derek Johnstone: Ally won't know his best team yet RANGERS return to the scene of the crime when they head to Station Park on Sunday. It is just a few weeks since Ally McCoist's side crashed out of the League Cup to Forfar and the Gers boss famously let rip at Charles Green on another tumultuous weekend for him, his players and the club. Now, though, things are very different as they prepare for their second meeting of the season with *** Campbell's side. And the biggest change of all is the players that Ally has available for selection. It was last year's squad that lost at Station Park the first time and it showed just why Ally had to sign the number of new players he has this summer. That game proved that the squad wasn't good enough. Since then, Rangers have played some good stuff and the new lads have made a huge difference to the side. Nicky Law and Jon Daly made a real impact when they appeared as trialists and the team have been much better recently. It is a huge improvement already from last sea ...
Craig Mather plots SPFL title assault with Rangers Craig Mather expects Rangers to be challenging for the SPFL Premiership at the first time of asking. Group Sports Writer Tuesday 02/07/2013 Mather is building for the future After seeing his side win the Third Division title last term, Ibrox boss Ally McCoist has made several quality signings this summer, adding seven new faces to his squad including Nicky Law, Nicky Clark, Jon Daly, Arnold Peralta, Cammy Bell, Stevie Smith and Richard Foster. The Gers boast arguably the second strongest pool in the country behind Old Firm rivals Celtic – and the club's interim chief executive is targeting instant success upon the Light Blues' eventual return to the top flight. "As far as I'm concerned you get one opportunity to make change when you go through a situation like Rangers have," he said. "We need to create a solid platform from which we can build. And that's not just on the park, that's off the park as well. "So the changes we made with regard to the playin ...
TUESDAY, 25 JUNE 2013 14:45 Foster Agrees Gers Deal WRITTEN BY ANDREW DICKSON Richard Foster will start a contract from September 1 after playing for Rangers on loan in the 2010/11 season Richard Foster has become the latest player to commit to Rangers for this season and next after agreeing a two-year contract which will take effect from September 1. The full-back has been released from his deal with Bristol City and he’s the seventh free agent to agree terms with the club this summer. Foster joins Cammy Bell, Nicky Law, Jon Daly, Nicky Clark, Steven Smith and Arnold Peralta on the list of incoming recruits. They will all join Ally McCoist's squad subject to registration once the Ibrox outfit’s 12-month transfer embargo comes to an end. Foster, of course, has played for Gers before having spent the 2010/11 campaign on loan from then SPL rivals Aberdeen. He played a notable part in the title triumph that year which ensured Walter Smith left his position as manager with a 21st major honour in the bag. ...
Nicky Clark says fan power can lead Rangers SFL2 surge Nicky Clark has urged Rangers supporters to get behind the Ibrox club in their numbers again – and roar them to a second successive promotion. Matthew Lindsay The striker is one of five players to have signed for the Third Division champions this summer – Cammy Bell, Jon Daly, Nicky Law and Arnold Peralta are the others. The 22-year-old – the record goal scorer in Scotland last season – is hoping the arrival of new faces will convince Gers fans to renew their season tickets. Over 38,000 snapped up their pass for the 2012/13 campaign in an amazing show of support for the Light Blues after a year of financial difficulties. And Clark is hoping even more fans are there to cheer on Ally McCoist's side in the Second Division next season. The former Queen of the South player reckons he will be able to match his haul of 41 goals if Rangers get the same crowds. He said: "I can't wait to get started. The sooner I can pull on the jersey and run out at Ib ...
Rangers will be unable to field any of their pre-contract signings for up to six games of the new season if league reconstruction plans are voted through. STV has obtained a copy of the proposed rules for the new Scottish Professional Football League - the proposed single league body for senior football in the country. The regulations forbid the use of trialists in any league match across all four divisions or in League Cup matches. Rangers have completed pre-contract agreements with Cammy Bell, Nicky Clark, Nicky Law, Arnold Peralta and Jon Daly. They had hoped to field them as trialists under current SFL rules, prior to the club's registration embargo being lifted on September 1. Under the existing regulations, Ally McCoist would be able to field two trialists per game, with each player eligible to feature in a maximum of three fixtures. Should the vote pass however, the club will only be able to play their future signings in the Challenge Cup, reserve games or in non-competitive matches. That means the ...
frances - Rangers signing Arnold Peralta tipped to be box-office smash – just like Emilio Izaguirre Matthew Lindsay Sports Journalist Tuesday 04/06/2013 The 24-year-old midfielder will join the Ibrox club this summer – subject to getting a work permit – after agreeing a four-year contract. He will join up with his new Gers team-mates in pre-season and will then be registered on September 1 once the SFA transfer embargo is finally lifted. And Peralta has been tipped to make as much of an impact in Scotland as his countryman Izaguirre has done – thanks to his all-action style. Kelvin Coello is a football writer with national newspaper Diaz and has watched the player's career progress rapidly in the last five years. And he believes his ball-winning qualities in the centre of the park will make him a key man for Ally McCoist's side in the seasons ahead. Left-back Izaguirre has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving in Glasgow in a £600,000 transfer from Motagua in 2010. Despite Neil Lennon ...
RANGERS can confirm that Arnold Peralta has agreed to join the club on a four–year deal, subject to receiving a work permit. The Honduran international midfielder will be registered on September 1 when the club's transfer embargo is lifted but will join Ally McCoist's squad for pre-season. 24-year-old Peralta is currently part of Luis Suarez's international side which, having kicked off its summer of football against Israel in New York on Sunday, faces matches with Costa Rica and the USA in the next fortnight. The former Vida star will then be free to fly to Glasgow to join Jon Daly, Nicky Clark, Cammy Bell and Nicky Law as a new addition to McCoist's squad. And even though he won’t have had much of a break Arnold can’t wait to team up with McCoist and his players. He said: “I am delighted to be joining a club with the size and history of Rangers. I had several offers from Europe, MLS and at home in Honduras but when I was told I could sign for Rangers it was an easy decision. “I am really looki ...
Rangers boss Ally McCoist has confirmed the club are close to sealing deals for Arnold Peralta and Steven Smith. Peralta, a 24-year-old Honduras international midfielder, is a free agent after leaving Deportivo Vida in his homeland. Left-back Smith is also available on a free after his contract with MLS side Portland Timbers expired at the end of last year. The 27-year-old has been training with Rangers for the past few weeks with a view of sealing a permanent return to the club where he began his career in 2002. Gers boss McCoist, who is planning for a campaign in SFL2 next year, confirmed that both deals could be sealed within the next week. "We are close now with Arnold," said the 50-year-old. "We watched him playing for Honduras against Panama and he did well. Terms have been agreed with Arnold so hopefully in the next three or four days we'll push that one through. "Arnold is very aggressive and gets about the park well so I think he would blend in with the rest of the midfield and be a good signing. ...
RANGERS boss Ally McCoist today strengthened his squad further by signing left-back Stevie Smith on a two-year deal. The capture of the former Gers defender takes McCoist's total number of summer signings to five. He has already brought in Cammy Bell, Nicky Clark, Jon Daly and Nicky Law to the Ibrox club. And Honduran international midfielder Arnold Peralta is expected to unveiled as a new Rangers player early next week. Smith (left) who spent eight years as a player at Ibrox before leaving in 2010, has been without a club since last year. The ex-Scotland Under-21 international was released by MLS club Portland Timbers along with team-mate Kris Boyd in December. He has been training at Murray Park – as have Boyd and Kenny Miller – this year as he has looked for another club. And he clearly impressed McCoist with his fitness and sharpness as he has been handed a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season. The acquisition of the 27-year-old adds strength in depth to McCoist's squad as he already has L ...
PERALTA NEXT IN THE DOOR RANGERS manager Ally McCoist is set to make Honduran midfielder Arnold Peralta his next summer signing. Rangers manager Ally McCoist is working hard to complete signings McCoist this week started his attempts to strengthen his Gers squad when he landed Cammy Bell on a four-year deal. And more targets are set to follow the Scotland cap into Ibrox soon – with Peralta poised to be the next to put pen to paper. Both McCoist and his No.2 Kenny McDowall were impressed with the player during separate scouting missions to Central America. The tough tackler, 24, is hoped to complement Ian Black and Kyle Hutton while adding bite to his team in the boiler room. The Vida player has been capped 13 times by his country and played in the Olympic Games in London last summer. Peralta was asked about the interest of the Irn-Bru Third Division champions last month. He said: "I first heard of their interest when I played against Panama. It is a great opportunity for my future." Dundee United captai ...
