Bola Ahmed Tinubu (born 29 March 1952) was elected Senator for the Lagos West constituency in Lagos State, Nigeria in 1993, just before a military take-over in December 1993. After the return to democracy, he was elected governor of Lagos State, holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. He is an influential member of the Action Congress party and a prominent tribal aristocrat as Asiwaju of Lagos, a title given to him by HRM The Oba of Lagos. 5.0/5

The All Progressives Congress has appointed at least 74 persons, including a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari; and a former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu as members of its Board of Trustees. The list has not been officially released by the party but our correspondent learnt on Wednesday that the list comprised others like a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Chief Tom Ikimi, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Audu Ogbeh. Other prominent members of the party in the APC BoT include Alhaji Baba Magaji, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Chief Tony Momoh, former Bayelsa State Governor Timi Sylva, Yusuf Ali, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; Senator George Akume and Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, among others. Once upon a time, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (then the Vice President of Nigeria) engaged in a battle of wits with then President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Atiku eventually left the PDP and joined Bola Tinubu to form the Action Congress (AC). Many pundits anticipated the "implosion" of the PDP. It did not happen. Atiku later dumped AC (taking the party's registration certificate with him!) and returned to the PDP. The PDP "lived happily thereafter". LESSON: If the PDP did not "fall" when Vice President Atiku Abubakar fought the leadership, it is unlikely to "fall" because Gov. Rotimi Amaechi has now taken up the gauntlet. Likely or as a matter of conscidence of history, Governor Amaechi may be joining Bola Tinubu, the same step taken by VP Atiku Abubakar.
