Cristiano Ronaldo set two personal milestones as he led Real Madrid to a record-equalling 18th-straight win on a historic night at the Bernabeu. The Portugal forward has now scored more hat-tricks than any other La Liga player after completing his 23rd treble with his 200th Spanish top-flight goal. He put Madrid ahead by drilling in a disputed penalty, after he had been fouled under seemingly minimal contact. And his clinical volley and guided finish moved Real four points clear. Ronaldo, who is the favourite to win the 2014 Ballon d’Or for his performances this year, was given a standing ovation as he was substituted towards the end of another memorable performance. The 29-year-old had scored the same amount of hat-tricks as legendary Madrid forward Alfredo Di Stefano and Telmo Zarra of Athletic Bilbao, and eclipsed their tallies when he steered in Marcelo’s cross. And it also meant he reached his second century of La Liga goals in his 178th match for Real. Ronaldo illuminated the Bernabeu in the fin ...

Is Real Madrid v Barcelona the biggest game in club history? And down here are my submissions. Ronaldo. Messi. Neymar, Suarez and Rodriguez. In the unlikely scenario that any Real Madrid v Barcelona contest ever needed revving up, there it is: on 25 October, a single match starring the two best players in the world, the World Cup's leading scorer, four of the five most expensive players in history and the debut of the most controversial footballer of his generation. And all this without the injured Welsh star Gareth Bale. An occasion like no other before? Hype can make giddy fools of us all, and this is a fixture that has never lacked subplots or superstars. From the era of Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas in the 1950s and 60s through to Johan Cruyff and Diego Maradona in the 1970s and 80s, these are clubs accustomed to foreign stars at their fulcrum. Madrid defined themselves a decade ago by their galacticos, the annual superstar arrivals under spendthrift club president Florentino Perez. Either side ...
«CR7 now has 191 goals in 171 La Liga games for Madrid, and given his agent Jorge Mendes now claims he wants to spend the rest of his career with Los Blancos, it looks likely he will pass Zarra's all-time mark in the coming years.Ronaldo, 29, equalled another of Zarra's long-standing marks last weekend, with his hat-trick in Madrid's 5-0 win over Athletic taking him to a record of 22 La Liga trebles (which is also shared with former Blancos legend Alfredo Di Stefano). Thanks Suman Bagale Bro for nominating me. Here is mine top 10 best players of all time (Balla balla yeta uti garera ) :p 10. Lev Yashin:- Yashin is considered the greatest goalkeeper of all time. He was nicknamed the 'Black Spider' as he was so agile ingoal. Yashin made over 150 penalty saves in his incredible career, also claiming 270 clean-sheets. 9. He sometimes slipped into a midfield role adding depth to Real Madrid when he was at the club. 513 career goals is not a bad tally for a versatile forward. 8. Gerd Muller:- The greatest international goalscorer of all time, Muller averaged more than a goal per game for the Germans. His club career was nothing short of spectacular too, as he shined at Bayern. 7. This picture of Freddy inspired me to write A 60th Anniversary World Cup Tribute to my great uncle, Tommy Taylor, whom I sadly never met: 60 years ago on the 26th June 1954 the England team lost in the 1/4 finals of the World Cup to Uruguay (it's not a new thing!). In the team was a 22 yr old Barnsley born Tommy Taylor, my great Uncle. He'd been a crucial part of the team, helping England qualify for the World Cup and a year earlier had signed for Manchester United - the first £30,000 player but he gave a £1 to the tea lady to avoid the label! Despite England coming a cropper in the 1/4's this experience helped Tommy become a legend of the 1950s game - some might say one the best centre forwards ever! He went on to score 16 goals over the next 4 years for England in just 19 games (0.8 goal ratio). Rooney and Shearer are both less than 0.5 goals per game. Sadly he never was able to match the goal talley of Bobby Charlton at 49 goals as he was unlucky enough to be on the fateful Munich plane that crashed ...

Messi overhauled Alfredo Di Stefano's goals tally as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid warmed up for midweek Champions League action with wins.
Messi was in record breaking mood at Barca's 6-0 win at the Camp Nou while Atletico Madrid beat Real Valladolid 3-0. Though Adriano fired Barca into an early lead, but it was Messi who stole the show as he scored twice to overtake Bilbao's legend Telmo Zarra's record of 335 goals at a single Spanish club. He also climbed above Alfredo Di Stefano to become La Liga's joint third highest goalscorer of all-time with 228 strikes, alongside Raul. Messi netted Barca’s second with a delightful chip before setting up Alexis Sanchez just after half- time. Pedro scored their fourth with an easy finish following Cesc Fabregas' squared pass and Messi got his second of the night in the 68th minute, confidently slotting into the bottom corner from just outside the area. Neymar completed the rout in the 89th minute with an incredible drive from 25 yards, back with a wonder goal and Barcelona moved ahead of Atletico on GD in the table.

Top 5 Greatest Central Midfielders of All Time; 1] Alfredo Di Stefano (River Plate, Millionarios, Real Madrid, Espanyol & Spain) Although often confused as being a striker, the prolific Spaniard was commonly seen on the edge of his own area making decisive challenges as often as he was hitting the back of the net. Di Stefano was a pivotal member in possibly the most successful team of all time: Real Madrid of the 1950's and 60's. Considering the fact that they played far fewer games in those times, the Spaniard still managed 216 goals in 282 games at the Bernabeu, making him Madrid's 2nd highest goal-scorer of all time, just behind Raul who managed 228 in 550 games! 2] Zinedine Zidane (Cannes, Bordeaux, Juventus, Real Madrid & France) By far and away the greatest player of his entire generation. The French magician had an outstanding career which culminated in one of the best technical finishes ever in the 2002 Champions League Final, which saw him hit an outstanding volley with his weaker foot. Blog: Respect for Ryan ManUtd.com's Mark Froggatt feels the ovation afforded to Ryan Giggs at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu was much deserved... As Madrid-based newspaper Marca wrote, Ryan Giggs is a "living legend who earned a well-deserved tribute when he entered in the second half. Nobody knows if the Welsh eternal will return to the Bernabeu, but do not discard it happening." For decades, visitors to Real Madrid's great cathedral have worshipped various gods of world football, congregating in the steep pews to pay homage to the talents of Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas and, among others, Raul. However, on Wednesday, with 64 minutes on the clock, those inside the great Spanish stadium made a seldom seen gesture, rising to applaud the introduction of Giggs; United legend and bona fide icon of the UEFA Champions League. At 39, he defies logic, replacing 23-year-old Shinji Kagawa to feature in his 150th match in UEFA competition, producing a performance of great composure just days after scoring against Ev ...
