It's said loyalty comes at a cost. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will attest to that. The England international's loyalty to the Anfield club has robbed him of any opportunity of laying his hands on the League trophy despite being rated without doubt among the best midfield players of his time.. Ryan Giggs (Man United), Francesco Totti (AS Roma), Phillipo Inzaghi (AC Milan), Gigi Buffon (Juventus), Alan Shearer (New Castle) among others have surely passed the test of club faithfulness and loyalty.. Gigi's case 4 one deserves a mention: The Italian custodian was one of the 4, alongside Nedved, Del Pierro and Trezeguet who showed their unshaken loyalty for the Turin side by sticking to the club even when The club faced relegation to Serie B as punishment by the Italian FA in 2005 for match fixing scandals, a turn of event which saw most of Juventus' world class stars including P. Vieira, Z. Ibrahimovic, F. Cannavaro, L. Zambrotta, L. Thuram among others quit the club in search of "greener pastures". In . ...

Comments on Paul Scholes - In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything. He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more. (Xavi) My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. (Zinedine Zidane) Rooney is one of the best players in the world and I love watching him play. But if you had to pick out only one, then for their history and for all that they have achieved it would have to be Paul Scholes or Ryan Giggs. They are two shining examples for any player. (Andres Iniesta) Everywhere I go the coaches all tell me that Scholsey is the player they admire. But if they think they’ll get him they’re wasting their time! Paul is a Manc lad pure and simple. He loves the ...

We decided there were 2 choices for No.1 So at Number 1: Ryan Giggs and Alan Shearer Ryan Giggs: In any era Ryan Giggs would stand out as an extraordinary talent – but to perform at the top level for so long in the modern-day game is truly stunning. The only footballer to play in all 20 seasons of the Premier League (he has scored in each), the Welshman is the most decorated player in the English game and still plays a vital role for Manchester United, more than 21 years since his professional debut. Alan Shearer: Simply the greatest scorer in Premier League history by a distance, Alan Shearer averaged more than a goal every other match during his hugely impressive career. His 34 goals in 1994-95 were a key factor as Blackburn Rovers won the title while his subsequent move to Newcastle United saw him quickly establish himself as an icon on Tyneside. Deadly with either foot and with his head, Shearer was a classic centre-forward – and pretty much unstoppable.
With all due respect for Ryan Giggs but Alan Shearer might have something to say about being the "best player in Premier League history" -Zz
I got this fro the History page. MORE GOALS Manchester United became the first team to have scored 1 000 goals in the league after Cristiano Ronaldo scored in a 4–1 defeat of Middlesbrough in the 2005/06 season. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are the only other teams to have reached the 1 000-goal mark. The highest-scoring match to date in the Premier League occurred on September 29, 2007, when Portsmouth beat Reading 7–4. Five goals is the record individual scoring total for a player in a single Premier League game, and as of November 2009, only three players had achieved this feat, Andy Cole first, followed by Alan Shearer and then Jermain Defoe. Only Ryan Giggs of Manchester United has scored in all 18 Premier League seasons.
With one eye on the start of the English Premier League; I give respect to the mighty Alan Shearer, Le Tissier, Ian Wright, Michael Owen & Ryan Giggs. More honours to come.
Ryan Giggs. If I have to add one more, it will definitely be Alan Shearer.
