Newcastle say 'player trading' helped increase profits to £9.9m Newcastle said "player trading" was one reason for a 600% increase in profits after tax in the year to June 2013. The club says it made £9.9m profits after tax that year, up from £1.4m in 2011/12. It says £28.7m spent on six senior players in 2012-13 was countered by profits from selling the likes of Leon Best, Fraser Forster and Demba Ba. It added it had made "positive progress in line with Uefa's stringent financial fair play regulations". Some supporters have criticised the club's failure to make any permanent senior signings since June 2013. Strikers Luuk De Jong and Loic Remy on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach and QPR respectively, have been the only additions to manager Alan Pardew's first-team squad in that time, with France international Yohan Cabaye sold to Paris St-Germain for £19m in January. Arouna Kone could be Joe Kinnear's 1st piece of business as Newcastle's director of football as they hope to prize him away from Wigan this summer. Kone bagged himself 13 goals in a season that saw the Latics relegated to the Championship and with a £5 million minimum release clause has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs. Alan Pardew is keen to bolster his sides striking options as he lost Demba Ba to Chelsea last January for a cut price of £7.5 million. If Newcastle are to snap up the 29 year old they will have to fight off competition from former Wigan boss Roberto Martinez at Everton as well as Liverpool. Pardew is thought to be interested in Aston Villa out of favour Darren Bent but the Magpies have baulked at the £8 million valuation placed on him by the Villans. Kone would prove a significantly cheaper option with the club already having spent upwards of £18 million in the January Transfer Window this year.
Newcastle have made enquiries about signing Portugal striker Eder. The 25-year-old is valued at £16million by his club Sporting Braga, though Mike Ashley would hope to come to an agreement whereby £8m was paid, plus add-ons. Alan Pardew is desperate for a striker to fill the hole left by Demba Ba's departure in January and are working through a list of targets. /Loraine
Alan Pardew shat on his own cereal when he bent over backwards for Demba Ba. Playing Papiss Cissé on RW? I wouldn't even do that on FIFA.
Demba Ba set to sign for Chelsea, Alan Pardew has confirmed."
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is not expecting a slice of Mike Ashley’s £100m windfall to assist him through another summer recruitment drive. The sportswear magnate this week sold a four per cent stake in his Sports Direct company just weeks after bankrolling Pardew’s January spending spree, which netted five senior players. However, despite reaping a swift return on the club’s investment in Frenchmen Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Massadio Haidara, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran, the manager insists the model on which the club has operated since his arrival remains very much in place. Pardew said with a smile: “No, I don’t think any of that will be coming my way. “The windfall is earned from the success of his companies and what we have to do is get our own success here on and off the pitch, and we are working well towards that to generate our own money. “That’s the brief that we have got and that’s what we will have to do.” Andy Carroll’s £35m sale to Liverpool in Jan ...

Tottenham vs Newcastle Match Preview Newcastle’s French revolution will take on Tottenham in the early kick off on Saturday as they look to continue their mini revival. Since the influx of French signings on Tyneside, Alan Pardew’s side have won back to back games against Aston Villa and Chelsea which has seen them move away from the relegation zone. They will face a Spurs side who are currently unbeaten in nine Premier League games as they look to establish themselves as top four regulars. Spurs will enter this game with confidence, having not conceded a goal against Newcastle at White Hart Lane since 2008. In this time, the home side have scored 8 goals without reply and manager Andre Villas-Boas will hope for more of the same as they look to extend on their current 3 point lead over 5th place Everton. Newcastle though, have found some much needed confidence in recent weeks and have finally shown signs of replicating last years form which saw them challenge for Champions League places. Alan Pardew s ...
Moussa Sissoko scored twice as Newcastle overcame Chelsea 3-2 in a thriller at St James' Park on Saturday afternoon. Jonas Gutierrez flicked a header home to give the Magpies the lead, but Frank Lampard and Juan Mata turned the game on its head after the break before Sissoko struck twice to win a massive three points for the Magpies. The hosts were unchanged from their 2-1 midweek win over Aston Villa, while Rafa Benitez elected to play Demba Ba from the start on his return to St James' Park and gave John Terry a first Premier League start for nearly three months after a knee injury. Ba was booed and jeered whenever the ball went near him in a quiet start that saw Petr Cech make simple saves from Yoan Gouffran and Davide Santon. The visitors worked their way into the match patiently and should have taken the lead on 15 minutes. Mata's excellent chipped pass found Ashley Cole on the left whose cut-back came to Lampard 12 yards out, but the midfielder lashed over with his left foot. Alan Pardew's side were ...

Magpies manager has seemingly short memory. “I saw a headline saying Arsenal are flying the flag for Britain in the Champions League, but I had to wonder where that British involvement was when I saw the team. “It is important we don’t lose sight that this is the English Premier League and English players should be involved. I know it is difficult to buy British players because the market is expensive.” – Alan Pardew, West Ham United manager, 2006. Howay! Have you forgotten that Alan? Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is seemingly in possession of a very short memory. fanatix has found an old news report on ESPN in which Pardew criticises Arsenal at some length for their focus on foreign imports. Fast-forward to the future and Pardew is currently operating on a seemingly self-imposed ban to only purchase players from France’s Ligue 1. Sky Sports News--Newcastle have agreed a fee with Nancy for Massadio Haidara, according to Sky sources. The France U21 defender emerged as a target for Alan Pardew earlier this month and has also been linked with Roma. Haidara's priority is to join a Premier League club, and he could now get his wish after Nancy accepted an undisclosed offer. He said recently: "Newcastle do appeal to me, but everyone has to agree. "I would be very happy to play there. My preference is England. It is the league which attracts me the most and would suit my game the best." Haidara is the third French defender pursued by Newcastle this Transfer Window. Mathieu Debuchy has already arrived and a bid for Montpellier's Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has been agreed.
Arsenal to Launch £16m Bid for Newcastle United Winger Hatem Ben Arfa by Christian Bailey January 18th, 2013 Comments 13 Ben Arfa Arsenal Deal Emirates Stadium side ready to make concerted push to bring in long term Wenger target. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a January bid for Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa, a move that could tempt the French international into a move to the North London club. The Gunners boss is said to be ready to spend the transfer warchest he has been handed in order to strengthen his squad in pursuit of a top four finish and the coveted Champions League berth that is considered the very least Wenger must garner from the current campaign. Chelsea vs Arsenal tickets still available Alan Pardew has seen Demba Ba leave for Chelsea and now has to deal with the fact that his club captain, Fabricio Coloccini wants to return to his native Argentina. This may leave Ben Arfa considering his options, not least because the St James’ Park side have had a poor season and ...
Newcastle are targeting a £9million deal for Ajax playmaker Siem De Jong in a bid to save their torrid season. The Magpies have seen the loss of their top goal-scorer and talisman so far this window, with Demba Ba completing a long-awaited £7.5 million move to Chelsea. Only full back Mathieu Debuchy has been added to the rank so far at St James, another transfer that was a long time in the waiting. However Newcastle will miss the goals of Demba Ba and had thought they had found a natural replacement in Marseille striker Loic Remy. Top talent spotter Graham Carr had watched Remy numerous times and even Alan Pardew thought that the deal for Remy would go through this month without too many complications. That was until Harry Redknapp's QPR stepped in with their astronomical £80,000 a week offer for Remy to join their fight for Premier League survival. So Pardew has now turned to Ajax star Siem De Jong to help change Newcastle's fortunes. De Jong can play in midfield but is more well known for occupying t ...
Alan Pardew is planning to lure Ajax captain Siem De Jong to St James’ Park and hopes that Ajax are amenable to Newcastle United’s £9m offer, according to the Daily Mail. It’s been a busy January for the Magpies. Demba Ba left for Chelsea and Mathieu Debuchy finally completed his long awaited move to the North-East. Then captain Fabricio Coloccini stated his intention to move back to his native Argentina and today it appears that Marseille forward Loic Remy, who was due for talks about completing a move to Newcastle United on Sunday, is set to move to QPR instead. Therefore Pardew will hope that he manages to seal the deal to strengthen his attack with the potential addition of Dutch international De Jong. De Jong moved to Ajax’s academy at the age of 16 from De Graafschap and is now in his sixth season in the Amsterdam side’s first team. His efforts over the past two seasons, scoring a total of 33 goals, have helped the club to back to back domestic titles and the forward may feel tempted by a ...

French club Valenciennes say Newcastle have made a bid for their left-back Gaetan Bong. Newcastle have already strengthened their defence with the signing of France defender Mathieu Debuchy from Lille but manager Alan Pardew is keen to bring in further reinforcements. And it seems that Bong, who has been capped by Cameroon on 10 occasions, is also on the Magpies' radar. Valenciennes president Jean-Raymond Legrand told le10sport.com: "Newcastle are very interested, they have made an offer. "We will wait and see but I will not sell players unless I can replace them." Asked if defence remained an area he was keen to address, Pardew said: "It's a position that we really need to strengthen, as we have let in some loose goals this year because we have not had the competition, and the likes of Davide Santon have needed a rest at times. That sort of pressure has told on us." Following the departure of Demba Ba, Pardew is also in the market for a striker but confusion surrounds the future of long term target Loic ...
Demba Ba: “I do not like when I compare with Mario Balotelli, before everything … I do not smoke and drink alcool, and I pray 5 times each day in the mosque” Alan Pardew said: ‘You have to respect that some players have a different religion to most of the footballers in this country. We need different facilities for them. It’s important that whatever the religion, we take care of it and understand it.’ Dedicated prayer rooms are not new in English football although they are few and far between, and the Premier League’s first multi-faith prayer room inside a stadium was unveiled only four years ago at Blackburn. That was as much in response to the multicultural make-up of the local population as to the demand from players. Bolton also have a prayer room, as do Manchester City who have four practising Muslims in their first-team squad — Yaya and Kolo Toure, Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri. Other Premier League stars sharing their faith include Ali Al-Habsi of Wigan, Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh, ...
Newcastle United have been in the news since the January Transfer Window opened as they have already sold Demba Ba to Chelsea and brought in Mathieu Debuchy from Lille (via BBC Sport). Along with the two deals, the Magpies have been linked with plenty of players, most of them coming from Ligue 1 which has become a breeding ground for potential Newcastle players since the arrival of manager Alan Pardew. However, the latest bit of transfer news about the club should concern fans on Tyneside the most as defender Fabricio Coloccini reportedly wants a move back to his homeland of Argentina in January (via BBC Sport).
Loic Remy has told close friends that his most likely destination this January will be Newcastle United. The Chronicle understands that despite talk of interest from the Bundesliga, the 26-year-old France international will either sign for the Magpies – or stay with Marseille until the summer if Newcastle and the Velodrome club can’t agree a fee. Both Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund have expressed an interest, yet Remy’s preferred destination is thought to be the Premier League. Toon officials are in France trying to thrash out a deal for the forward as they continue their bid to replace Demba Ba. Meetings which took place last week at Newcastle’s Benton base resulted in Mike Ashley giving the green light to pursue Remy, and a fresh plea from Alan Pardew in the aftermath of the 2-0 loss at Brighton in the FA Cup have also increased the intensity of chase. Newcastle have not submitted an offer for Remy at this stage with Marseille understandably keen to see if there are any additional offers for t ...
Marseille coach Elie Baup has hinted Loic Remy might stay at the Ligue 1 club and scupper Newcastle's chances of signing the talented striker. Magpies boss Alan Pardew has identified Remy as his preferred replacement for Demba Ba, who left Tyneside to join Chelsea earlier this month. Pardew is believed to face competition from Bundesliga sides Schalke and Borussia Dortmund to secure the signature of the France international, but according to Baup, Remy could just as likely stay at the Stade Velodrome until the end of the season. "For a year, every Transfer Window, we have been talking about his departure," Baup told La Provence. "But he is still there. Maybe he still will be in the summer." It was rumoured that Remy had travelled to the North East earlier this week ahead of a medical, but that was disproved when he was confirmed in the Marseille squad that travelled to Morocco for a training camp.

QPR jump ahead of Newcastle in the race for £10m Loïc Rémy. Queen's Park Rangers last night emerged as the frontrunners to sign the Marseille forward Loïc Rémy. The 26-year-old forward has been the subject of intense interest from QPR and Newcastle. Marseille will sell the player for £10 million and both clubs are prepared to meet the Ligue 1 club's asking price. Rangers, however, have the wage structure to see off Newcastle and they believe they can put a package to Rémy this weekend that will be financially strong enough to see off Alan Pardew's side. Harry Redknapp needs firepower to have any chance of keeping the Premier League's basement side in the division. Rémy had scored 37 goals in all competitions in France in the last two full seasons. He has also been capped 17 times by France and has scored four goals for his country but has fallen out of favour this season and that has alerted several English clubs. Newcastle desperately need a centre forward to replace Demba Ba, who completed his ...

Alan Pardew has called upon owner Mike Ashley to back him in the January Transfer Window in the search for a new striker, but as we already know, it can be easier said than done when searching for a new addition to the Newcastle United striker force. After Andy Carroll's deadline day departure, and despite Demba Ba's summer move to St James' Park, it took 12 months for Newcastle to sign a striker Pardew could consider a genuine replacement in Papiss Demba Cisse. With The Magpies on the precipice of the relegation zone, Pardew can ill afford any delay in finding a replacement for Ba, but has to battle against the crowded marketplace that is the January Transfer Window. So what options are available to Pardew in the unforgiving mistress that is the New Year Transfer Window? IBTimes UK looks at the contenders. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Saint Etienne The 23 year would provide an alternative option in attack, with his tendency to sit on the shoulder of the last defender and goal poaching style a far cry from ...

Kevin Keegan has told Newcastle fans not to worry about the sale of Demba Ba - as Yohan Cabaye is the key to the club's future. - Blog: Newcastle slump to defeat The French international midfielder is sidelined with a groin injury and wasn't expected to come back until February, but he has begun light training and could be in the first-team fold again by mid- January. His return would be a massive boost to manager Alan Pardew, whose side have been hit by injuries to other key players including Hatem Ben Arfa and Ryan Taylor and have been on a run of form which has seen them lose nine of their last 11 Premier League games. The expected sale of top scorer Ba to Chelsea is another blow for Pardew, but ESPN lead football analyst and former Newcastle boss Keegan thinks that Cabaye's influence will steer the club to safety. "Losing Demba Ba will be a blow but I think they would have expected that," Keegan said. "I think the biggest problem Newcastle have at the moment is the fact that Yohan Cabaye is injured. H ...

Demba Ba 'has been honourable' says Alan Pardew
Newcastle United chairman Mike Ashley's canny wage structure has been revealed by Demba Ba's move to Chelsea. The Daily Mail says Ba transfer saga has revealed Newcastle owner Ashley’s salary strategy — to keep the basic wages as low as possible but hand out incentives for success. Ba, who wants £80,000 a week at Chelsea, was on about £40,000 at St James’ Park, plus another £20,000 per appearance. In the same way, manager Alan Pardew is comparatively poorly paid for a top Premier League manager but has big bonuses built in and the security of an eight-year contract with no break clauses.

"I don't have any official information," Benítez said after the home defeat by Queens Park Rangers. "I know that Alan Pardew is talking but officially he is not our player, so I cannot say too much. Newcastle to break bank for Osaze…May replace Ba Newcastle’s boss, Alan Pardew, is reported to be interested in Nigerian International, Peter Odemwingie, in case Demba Ba leaves this month. According to The Sun(London), Newcastle wants Odemwingie to replace Senegalese striker, Ba, who has sparked off interest from a number of clubs including Chelsea. It’s not the first time Newcastle has been linked with the striker, but at 31, he’s the same age as compatriot, Shola Ameobi, and Peter hardly fits the profile of players Newcastle would want to sign in January. The Sun reported that talks were ongoing with West Brom about Osaze as it seems they may be willing to sell the Nigerian star, who joined West Brom in 2010 from Russian club, Lokomotiv Moscow, and before that he played at Lille with both Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy. Odemwinge has a decent record at West Brom having appeared 73 times for them with 30 goals, and this season, while he’s only appeared nine times, he’s still managed to sco ...

Demba Ba: Chelsea trigger Newcastle striker's release clause Comments (373) Chelsea have triggered the release clause in Newcastle forward Demba Ba's contract. Ba, 27, has been given permission to speak to Chelsea and will miss Wednesday's game against Everton. It is believed his contract contains a clause which allows him to speak to other clubs in the event of a £7m bid. The Senegalese, who joined Newcastle from West Ham in June 2011, is currently joint-second top scorer in the Premier League with 13 goals. Did you know? Ba has scored 36 Premier League goals since arriving in 2011. Only Robin Van Persie (64) and Wayne Rooney (44) have more in that era. Newcastle have attempted to negotiate a new deal with the Senegal international in recent months, which would remove the clause, but it became active on 1 January. Debuchy signing can lift Toon - Pardew Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is hoping a successful pursuit of Mathieu Debuchy will help to secure the club's biggest names. The Magpies are hopeful of pushing through their protracted move for the 27-year-old Lille full-back later this week after tracking the France international for more than a year. At a time when the future of striker Demba Ba is looking increasingly uncertain, that would represent a major boost for Pardew as he looks to build his team around the likes of Tim Krul, Fabricio Coloccini, Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse and Debuchy's close friend, Yohan Cabaye. He said: "When you sign good, senior international players, which he is, it's going to give everybody a boost, your senior players too. "I hope that's the case - but we are still far from a deal yet." In the short term, Pardew's only focus, however, is the clash at Everton in which the Magpies will attempt to avoid a ninth defeat in just 11 Barclays Premier League games. Pardew's problems have been ...
For the next month, on and off, I'll keep you updated on the likeliness of transfers. I know it's just a way to get hopes up, but I feel like being optimistic. So. Let's start off on a somewhat sour note. There is no way that Demba Ba will be joining Arsenal, if the reports about the reasons behind the collapse of his transfer to Chelsea are true. Apparently his wages are the problem, suggesting that the 27-year old or his agents want a lot more than the £70,000 a week that the Blues were offering. It cannot be over the fee because we know that his release clause will be triggered at £7.5 million. Ba is a talented and powerful striker, but Arsenal will not pay over £100,000 a week because of the strict nature of the wage structure. Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, is now hoping that he will be able to hold on to his top scorer. “I feel a bit sorry for Demba, because the people representing him are not representing him. There are people out there fuelling it who are not involved. “I still think i ...

GUNNERS FIRE 7 PAST NEWJust three days after after scoring three times but leaving Old Trafford pointless, there was more late heartache for a beleaguered United at the Emirates on Saturday night. But if the last-gasp loss to the Red Devils was cause for both pride and frustration, then our fifth successive loss away from St.James' Park was rather more humiliating. Once again United managed to work themselves into a position of sharing six goals at the three quarter mark of the game, but then proceeded to unravel alarmingly - conceding seven goals for the first time since April 1986. We'd questioned what Alan Pardew's side had left in the tank after their Boxing Day exertions and they duly succumbed in the closing stages to a team granted a seven day Winter break. And it showed. The Magpies were arguably the better side in the first half and enjoyed the majority of possession, but were only still on terms after Demba Ba's free-kick was deflected into his own net by Jack Wilshere. Theo Walcott had given th ...
Newcastle: Alan Pardew's failed attempt to land Lille Right Back Matheui Debuchy looks like it will happen in this window and with the likely departure of Demba Ba they will be targeting Loic Remy (Marseille)
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed he still fears striker Demba Ba will leave in January as he has yet to renew his contract
Newcastle United will only rake in £5 million from the sale of Demba Ba in January. The Sun says Ba has a clause in his contract stating he can go if a club offer £7.5m — but £2.5m of that will go to the player himself. That leaves Toon boss Alan Pardew with virtually nothing to spend on a top-class replacement. Ba, 27, has resisted all efforts to get him to sign a new deal which would scrap that £7.5m clause. And his main reason for rejecting Toon’s offers is that agreement in his current deal which entitles him to the £2.5m pay-off
Newcastle boss Pardew hopes to keep hold of Ameobi Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew remains hopeful of keeping hold of Shola Ameobi. Ameobi is in line to join Nigeria for the African Nations Cup. Pardew said: "It's something we are trying to clear up with the authorities there, and I don't really want to say anymore than that. "We seem to have two different messages coming out. We should hopefully clear that up over the next couple of days and have a more definitive answer for the media before the start of next week." The nightmare scenario for Pardew would see both Demba Ba leaving and Ameobi rendered unavailable, leaving him with just a single striker, although he does not expect that to happen. He said: "No, I don't think that will happen. We have obviously got a scenario where we have got to protect ourselves."

Alan Pardew will not endure another summer of Demba Ba release clause talk - even if that means selling him
Demba Ba will be sold next summer if he fails to sign new deal, warns Alan Pardew
Javier Hernandez snatched victory for Manchester United in a pulsating and controversial 4-3 Premier League victory over Newcastle at Old Trafford in which Alan Pardew's side led on three occasions. The Red Devils looked as though they would have to settle for a point at best but struck at the start of added time as the Mexico striker applied the finishing touch to Jonny Evans' cross to spark jubilation from a previously furious Sir Alex Ferguson as his side moved seven points clear of Manchester City following their shock 1-0 defeat at Sunderland. Newcastle made a dream start as they were gifted the lead with only four minutes on the clock. Michael Carrick failed to control the ball in midfield with Demba Ba advancing towards the United box before unleashing a low shot which David De Gea could only push into the path of the grateful James Perch to tap home. United were back on terms in the 25th minute when Evans applied the finishing touch at the right end from close range after Tim Krul could only half ...
Manchester United 0 vs 0 Newcastle United - Pre Match I'll try and keep the festive puns to a minimum today, promise. As for the game today, the Red Devils saw their lead slip at the top of the table to four points after a 1-1 draw away to Swansea, and Sir Alex Ferguson has reacted by dropping Wayne Rooney from today's squad altogether. Alan Pardew meanwhile will be hoping Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse can bully United's leaky defence and steal the points for his side. The team news is in... Manchester United: De Gea; Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Scholes; Chicharito, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Vidic, Buttner, Wootton, Cleverley, Fletcher, Tunnicliffe. Newcastle: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon; Perch, Anita; Marveaux, Bigirimana, Cisse, Ba. Subs: Elliot, Tavernier, Ferguson, Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Campbell, Shola Ameobi. So with Rooney and Ashley Young injured and Danny Welbeck ill, it would be fair to say that the home side's attacking options look a little limi ...
Arsene Wenger looks set to complete the £7.5m signing of Newcastle United striker Demba Ba early next month. The Arsenal manager is reportedly closing in on the Senegal international signing having given up his pursuit of Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntlelaar. The Gunners boss will meet the 27 year old’s much publicized release clause and offer the Magpies striker a deal said to be in the region of £100k a week. Arsenal are set to beat off interest from other prospective suitors and have been greatly aided in their pursuit of the French born forward due to his keenness to play under revered boss Wenger. French source Canal+ had seemingly let the ‘cat out of the bag’ earlier this week about a likely move to the Emirates Stadium for the Newcastle United marksman but Alan Pardew has attempted to calm talk of such a switch with key matches against Man United & Arsenal to deal with before the Transfer Window re-opens on January 1st. However a deal is seemingly done but is being kept under wraps until a ...
Shola Ameobi scored his third goal of the season as Newcastle handed Harry Redknapp his first defeat as Queens Park Rangers manager. It looked like being a frustrating day for the Magpies, who had lost six of their previous seven games, as Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse missed good chances. But substitute Ameobi rifled in a shot with nine minutes remaining for his first league goal in nine months. QPR battled hard, with striker Djibril Cisse missing their best chance. Rangers, who defended stoutly and looked dangerous on the counter-attack, thought they had done enough as they looked to continue their mini-revival under new manager Redknapp. However, it was Redknapp's opposite number Alan Pardew who changed the course of the match, with two of his substitutes having a direct influence in the match-winning strike. Sylvain Marveaux replaced Cheick Tiote with 13 minutes left, and his extra quality created the opportunity for Ameobi to collect the Frenchman's pass, cut inside and find the back of the net with a cl ...

Alan Pardew won't be afraid to leave out Papiss Demba Cisse – if he can’t hit form alongside Demba Ba.
Demba Ba has told Alan Pardew that Arsenal transfer talk was lost in translation.
Newcastle United are well placed to close a deal for Marseille striker Loic Remy ahead of Premier League rivals. The London Evening Standard says Arsenal, Chelsea and QPR are all believed to be keen on a move for the 25-year-old France international but they will face further competition from the Magpies, whose boss Alan Pardew is steeling himself for another month of uncertainty over current leading scorer Demba Ba. As the London trio consider their options ahead of a bid during the January Transfer Window, Remy recently admitted in an interview with a French TV company that the Gunners would be his preferred destination.
Alan Pardew reveals his January targets in answer to your questions ALAN PARDEW today insisted Newcastle United will "definitely" look to add another player to his squad in January - and for the second window running attempt to keep together the side that guided the Magpies to fifth place last season. Pardew has never shirked his responsibilities when it comes to answering the fans, and after the Chronicle's Big Toon Survey, the United boss was happy to answer the five most popular themes in a Q and A session. Understandably, Pardew is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to the identities of January targets. But with one player set to come through the door in the New Year, Pardew also revealed his hopes that he could retain his squad and keep Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Cheick Tiote. And with scores of fans asking the same question about investment in January, Pardew said: 'It is a difficult window, but I think we would like to get - definitely - one player in and not lose an ...

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is ready to replace Demba Ba with Dynamo Kiev striker Artem Milevskiy. (The Sun)
Alan Pardew is a little worried that Demba Ba may leave the club in January, when his release clause becomes active again, and we are likely to see another circus created by his agents, who are trying to make money off him.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is still hoping to secure a new deal to keep Demba Ba at the club. Talks with the striker, aimed at replacing a £7.5million release clause, have stalled in the last month, with Arsenal and Liverpool monitoring the situation. After Ba took his season's tally to 10 with two goals in last night's 3-0 win over 10-man Wigan, Pardew said he is confident Ba will stay beyond next month's Transfer Window. Pardew said: 'He loves it here, he understands it is a football city. We have tried to do a deal to take the clause out and we have not managed to do it yet so it is hanging over us and it makes it difficult for me, for Demba and the club in the next window. 'He is inspirational and has been brilliant for us. He has never looked me in the eye and said he wants to do anything other than stay. I hope he does.' The victory ended Newcastle's run of four straight losses and Pardew added: 'It was a massive victory. Four defeats in this city is not easy.' Ba's first - from the penalty spot ...
Despite scares at St James' Park last night, Alan Pardew is confident Demba Ba, Cheik Tiote and Davide Santon
TRANSFER RUMOUR: Alan Pardew wants to bring Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate to Newcastle in January. It is believed that the Newcastle manager is a big fan of the 22-year-old central defender, who has made 44 appearances since joining Anderlecht from Brussels in 2008. Kouyate is already familiar with Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse having played for his national side Senegal five times.
Alan Pardew says a few key mistakes cost Newcastle, as the Magpies suffered back-to-back defeats at St James’ Park, losing 2-1 to Swansea. Goals from Michu and Jonathan de Guzman gave Swansea a 2-0 lead before Demba Ba grabbed a consolation for the lacklustre Toon. After the game, Pardew said:...
Senegal are heading for a confrontation with Newcastle United after threatening to prevent Papiss Demba Cisse from playing against Swansea in the Premier League on Saturday. The Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has been stunned by claims from Senegal that Cisse is not injured and should have played for them against Niger on Wednesday. Cisse was taken off at half-time during the 1-0 defeat by West Ham last Sunday and did not travel for international duty because of a back problem. Senegal, however, are furious and insist they will invoke Fifa’s five-day rule, which will stop the striker playing for his club on Saturday as they say they have not received any proof he is injured. The five-day rule is designed to give national teams the power to punish clubs for not releasing players when requested. It bans the players for five days after the international fixture they missed. Pardew is adamant Newcastle, who also employ Cisse’s international colleague Demba Ba, have done nothing wrong, ev ...

Manchester United's blistering start blew away Newcastle as the visitors won 3-0 on Sunday to move up to second in the Premier League table.. Sir Alex Ferguson's side were handed a flying start as the Magpies' makeshift defence crumbled horrifically on two occasions inside the opening 16 minutes to allow first Jonny Evans and then Patrice Evra to head home. Alan Pardew's men rallied in determined fashion and might have been back in the game five minutes into the second half, but Demba Ba's header came back off the bar and Papiss Cisse's follow-up was clawed on to the post by keeper David De Gea with the home contingent claiming the ball had crossed the line. But Tom Cleverley's 71st-minute strike from long range ensured the visitors avenged their 3-0 defeat at St James' Park last season in fine style.

A classic Premier League rivalry is renewed on Sunday afternoon, as Manchester United travel to Newcastle. Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for a response from his side after they lost to Tottenham in their last Premier League fixture, although Robin Van Persie inspired a Champions League victory in midweek. Alan Pardew will play his first home match since being awarded an 8-year-contract, and is expected to start with the leagues most in form striker Demba Ba for the visit of United. Ba opened the scoring in the corresponding fixture last season, with a superb half volley. Newcastle ran out 3-0 winners that night, in a match that eventually had a huge baring on where the title ended up. Pardew named a strong side for the midweek win over Bordeaux, but the fact the likes of Ba, Ben Arfa and Davide Santon remained unused substitutes suggested they will start Sunday’s clash. Defenders Fabricio Coloccini (hamstring) and Steven Taylor (calf) and Ryan Taylor remain unavailable. United have a long injury lis ...

Demba Ba at odds with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has read the Riot Act to Demba Ba.
So it seems there is something going on between Demba Ba and his boss ,Alan Pardew at Newcastle?
Everton were left feeling robbed of victory after Demba Ba's last-minute equaliser gave Newcastle United a point at Goodison Park. Ba levelled after substitute Victor Anichebe looked to have given Everton victory two minutes from time - after earlier having a header ruled out despite the ball appearing to cross the line. In a thrilling encounter, Everton dominated the first half and led deservedly through Leighton Baines's early strike until Ba's introduction after the interval transformed Newcastle's attacking threat. He was on target within four minutes but Goodison Park was infuriated when Anichebe's header dropped behind the line after being parried by Newcastle keeper Steve Harper 12 minutes from time, only for referee Mike Jones to wave play on after looking to his assistant. "Everton bossed the first half. I was really impressed. Kevin Mirallas was absolutely fantastic. Alan Pardew made changes for the second half and Everton took their foot off the gas. They allowed Newcastle back into it. From th ...

Chelsea v. Newcastle Preview (Sky Sports) Roberto Di Matteo and Eden HazardChelsea host Newcastle United in the Saturday evening kick-off looking to make it a perfect three wins on the bounce in this season's Premier League. Roberto Di Matteo's early league leaders followed up their 2-0 away win at Wigan on Sunday with a pulsating 4-2 home victory over new boys Reading on Wednesday. The Blues had to come from behind to beat Brian McDermott's side and Di Matteo will be looking for his team to tighten up at the back, especially against top strikers Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba. Cisse notched a brace - including his curling wonder-goal - as the Magpies downed the Blues 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in May last season. And Ba - who is hoping to be fit from a sore shin - showed his own goalscoring prowess with the opener as Alan Pardew's side beat Former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas' new team Tottenham 2-1 last weekend to get their season off to a winning start. Hatem Ben Arfa stroked home a late winner from the penalty spot as Alan Pardew's Newcastle rode their luck to get their new Premier League campaign off to a flying start with victory over Tottenham. The Frenchman sent Brad Friedel the wrong way in the 80th minute having been hauled down by Rafael van der Vaart, restoring the Magpies' slender advantage after Spurs had pulled back to level four minutes earlier. A low-key encounter had sprung into life in the 55th minute when Demba Ba fired his first goal since February to put the home side ahead before Jermain Defoe prodded a 76th minute equaliser at the second attempt. The late drama proved too much for Pardew, who was sent to the stands by referee Martin Atkinson for a furious response to a touchline incident shortly before Andre Villas-Boas' men had snatched their leveller. The visitors had looked sharper in the first period and were desperately unlucky not to take some kind of lead into the half-time break after both Defoe and Gareth Bale clattered shot ...
