Clean up job at Newcastle Newcastle United have surprisingly deemed the likes of Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa and Gabriel Obertan surplus to their requirements at St. James’ Park, reports the Daily Mail. Manager Alan Pardew seems to be plotting more wholesale changes to the make up of his squad as he looks to compete higher up the Premier League table.can they make the Europa League spot this coming season?
There had been rumors of this in the last couple of months of the season, and in France today news outlet Mercato 365 is reporting that Yanga-Mbiwa will be allowed to leave Newcastle United this summer. Mapou joined us from Montpellier in January of last year, when he was one of five French players brought into the club that month, but he has never really settled down in English football, and manager Alan Pardew has decided to let him go, so we will see at least one new center-back coming into the Tyneside club this summer. When he was signed sixteen months ago, he was thought to have been a good signing for about £7M for the Magpies, since he could play anywhere across the back line, but after some solid performances, he put in some performances where he looked anything but steady. One of those performances was at Everton last year, when he was hauled off at half time, after Newcastle were 3-0 down at the time, and Mike Williamson came in and was first choice for the rest of the season, and Mike became ...
Hatem Ben Arfa's Newcastle future has been thrown into more doubt after Alan Pardew confirmed he trained away from the first team.
(Puts it all into perspective really. I bet Newcastle, utd and even Chelsea would like to have our team and our supporters, not to mention the owners and Brendan. Look what we have achieved in such a short time) Newcastle United’s fans staged a mass exodus of St James’ Park as they protested against owner Mike Ashley and manager Alan Pardew during their final home match of the season - as star forward Hatem Ben Arfa watched from the stands. The Toon Army left the stadium in their thousands on 69 minutes as they called for Ashley to leave the club and Pardew to be sacked. The Newcastle United Supporters Trust had encouraged fans to walk out during the game against Cardiff City. The significance of the 69th minute is that the club last won a trophy in 1969, the year of their Fairs Cup triumph. A statement released by the NUST on Friday read: 'As fans we have deep concerns at the direction Newcastle United is heading in, both on and off the pitch. 'The vast majority of supporters are angry and frustrated ...
If Magpies are going to rebuild, they have to buy British By Don Hutchison Newcastle United have been a comedy club this season but no-one is laughing. The moment that summed up Newcastle United’s sorry season for me came on Saturday as the team trudged around a half-empty St James’ Park for a supposed lap of honour. Alan Pardew was nowhere to be seen as the team walked around the pitch but Hatem Ben Arfa was there, soaking up the applause. He has fallen out with the manager to the extent that he’s watching the games from the stands but there he was on a pitch that his manager wouldn’t dare to tread on for fearing of getting booed or jeered by the supporters. That isn’t right but it says so much about the situation at Newcastle at the moment. It’s turned into a bit of a comedy up there in the last few weeks – but no one who cares about that club is laughing at the moment. There were a few pundits saying on Saturday that Newcastle’s supporters had let their club down by walking out on 69 mi ...

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that French midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa does have a future at the club
As the final whistle beckoned Alan Pardew became so engulfed by nerves that he covered his face with his hands when Aston Villa mounted a late counter-attack. After a run of five home defeats Newcastle United's manager openly acknowledged he was "under pressure" but then, deep in stoppage time, Loïc Rémy controlled a deflected Luuk de Jong cross with his right foot. Having deposited a deceived Ron Vlaar on his backside by shaping to shoot before switching possession to his left foot, Rémy then unleashed a shot which flew past Brad Guzan. Suddenly transformed, a beaming Pardew turned to the directors box and waved to his family. Earlier Newcastle's manager had made quite a statement by dropping Davide Santon after a disappointing performance from the Italy left-back in the recent 4-0 home defeat against Tottenham. Pardew did not even offer Santon a place on the bench but might have regretted that decision as he watched his replacement, Paul Dummett, struggle to gain a foothold in the game. Presumably no ...
Newcastle United vs Aston Villa : Match Preview, Lineups and Prediction on February 23, 2014 Newcastle United vs Aston Villa 23 Feb., 1330 GMT Venue: St. James’ Park Ninth placed Newcastle United host Aston Villa who are currently placed at the twelfth spot at the St. James’ Park on Sunday. Following the transfer of mid-fielder Yohan Cabaye to PSG, Newcastle United have failed to win a single match – losing all three last matches and when they host Aston Villa on Sunday, they will be in the quest to turn their fortunes around. Similarly, the Villians too haven’t had an impressive form as they have registered only a win in their last six games ( 1 W, 3 L, 2 D). However, Aston Villa who impress in the away games more often, won’t leave a single chance to bag all the three points against the out-of-form hosts. For the Toons, Loic Remy returns from suspension and this will certainly be a huge boost for Alan Pardew as they have failed to score in the past four matches. Similarly, Cheick Tiote and Co ...
Sylvain Marveaux has been told to train with the U18's! Marveaux played a cameo against Spurs but was understood to have come under fire during Alan Pardew's Post-Match debrief along with Hatem Ben Arfa. The bookies say that Newcastle will finish ninth and only title winning form and favours from elsewhere will change that With Newcastle United now 13 points away from the top five and 13 points clear of the relegation zone, many have read the last rites to the 2013-14 season for the Magpies. You could say the season is over in the second week of February – six weeks before the clocks go forward for British Summer Time, two months before the cricket season even gets under way and way before many of us are even contemplating the end-of-season break. There’s not much to play for, but that didn’t stop Alan Pardew revealing he was annoyed by claims from anybody who said the season was over. But with 12 games to go Pardew must lift his side as the season heads for the final straight. United were dumped out of the domestic cups early on this term and fans must spend FA Cup fifth-round weekend in the role of spectator. You have to turn the clock back to 2006 for the last time United played a part in the las ...

Alan Pardew is prepared to let Hatem Ben Arfa leave Newcastle United in the summer, a report claims.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is hoping that the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa will fill the creative void left by Yohan Cabaye when his side take on Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby on Saturday.
Newcastle Boss Hails Ameobi Jnr -Big Brother, Shola Also Plays Newcastle United youngster, Sammy Ameobi has won accolades from The Magpies coach, Alan Pardew, after the attacker found playing time alongside his older brother, Shola Ameobi in a goalless draw with Norwich City in an English Premiership game on Tuesday night. Sammy was handed a rare start against the Canaries, while Shola had to settle for a place on the bench, and the younger of the Ameobi brothers saw 87 minutes of action. Sammy put up an impressive performance for the visitors before he was taken off for Massadio Haidara. While Shola came on for injured Hatem Ben Arfa in the 75th minute. In response, Pardew hailed the performance of Sammy after the game and said: "We were terrific tonight. Hatem [Ben Arfa] and Sammy [Ameobi] were terrific. "We hit the woodwork three or four times. I can't remember the last time we created so many chances and did not score away from home. We defended well and I'm very proud of the performance."
Newcastle United are on course for success as outlined in Mike Ashleys ten year plan, hovering just outside of the top ten European teams at the top of the league, the sale of Cabaye is propelling United towards ashley's goal. Sitting on ashleys knee with a hand up his back, right hand, alan pardew commented 'you know this is a great move for the club by mike, sometimes the fundamentals have to be sacrificed at this level to achieve your goals, when I say goals,I am speaking metaphorically obviously, as the football part of Newcastle United Football Club was sacrificed some while ago at the start of the plan, as anyone who understands our aim will have realised. Perhaps with a bit of luck, and the sale of Collicini, Ben Arfa and Tim Krul we can be pushing for a top six place in the European richest clubs league, it would be a fantastic achievement for mike after all he has given this club and the Geordie people . It really is exciting times'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has named a strong side for the Magpies' FA Cup third round tie against Cardiff at St. James' Park (3pm kick-off). There are seven changes from New Year's Day's defeat at West Brom, but it still includes seven full internationals from the off. Four of those changes are enforced, with Mathieu Debuchy suspended and Yohan Cabaye, Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini all injured, while Mike Williamson, Loic Remy and Shola Ameobi also drop out. Coming in are Rob Elliot, Steven Taylor, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Massadio Haidara, Vurnon Anita, Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse. United will line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Elliot protected by a back four of Davide Santon, Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa and Haidara. Captain-for-the-afternoon Cheick Tiote will patrol the engine room alongside Anita, with a trio of Ben Arfa, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran just ahead of them. And Cisse will lead the line on his own as he looks for his third goal of the season in all competitions. On the substitutes' ...
Alan Pardew urges Hatem Ben Arfa to prove mettle
Alan Pardew has challenged French midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa to rise to the battle for a starting place in the Newcastle side.
French attacking midfielder *** winger Hatem Ben Arfa has brushed off questions about a potential departure from current club Newcastle. Ben Arfa, who was linked with Liverpool over the summer, has not started a game for the Magpies since playing against Sunderland on 27th October. He has though made regular forays from the bench for Alan Pardew's men.
Newcastle United will be facing an injury hit Southampton team at St James’ Park. The fixture could be one of the season’s major turning points as the Magpies could put a six point gap between themselves and the Saints. United will be without suspended Yohan Cabaye for the clash but long-term injury victim Ryan Taylor is the only player unavailable to Alan Pardew against his former club. The Saints jetted north today without Victor Wanyama, Nathaniel Clyne, Guly do Prado and Danny Fox. They are also enduring a goalkeeping crisis with Paulo Gazzaniga set to start in goal as Artur Boruc and back-up Kelvin Davis remain out. **Premier League PREVIEWS** Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make late decisions on central defenders Fabricio Coloccini (groin) and Steven Taylor (hamstring) ahead of Sunday's derby trip to Sunderland. Defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is suspended following his red card in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last Saturday, while midfielder Jonas Gutierrez remains in Argentina after being given leave to deal with a personal issue. Pardew reserves praise for Ben Arfa ahead of Liverpool clash
Alan Pardew has compared the importance of Yohan Cabaye to that of Wayne Rooney and Ben Arfa's display at Aston Villa to Luis Suarez
Why no mention of Alan Pardew's scathing attack on Hatem Ben Arfa 'He did some really poor things, poor decision making'.
Newcastle United could face a battle to keep hold of star Hatem Ben Arfa, according to reports in France. AS Monaco, newly promoted to Ligue 1, are splashing the cash this summer, and it would seem Ben Arfa is on their shopping list. Magpies boss Alan Pardew won’t want to lose the 26-year-old, who is under contract at the club until 2016, but a big-money offer may prove too good for owner Mike Ashley and chairman Derek Llambias to turn down. Ben Arfa missed a lot of last season through injury, but his skilful attacking play has made him a firm favourite with fans on Tyneside. And the United star provides the team with a real attacking threat when fully fit. Monaco have not been put off by the player’s injury record while on Tyneside. Ben Arfa made the move to St James’s Park from Marseille three years ago, and has appeared in just 49 top-flight matches and 56 fixtures in all competitions for Pardew’s men. However, reports in France say Monaco are prepared to launch a £10m bid to get their man. Sh ...
Hatem Ben Arfa could make a shock return against Sunderland after Newcastle boss Alan Pardew revealed he is closing in on a return.
Alan Pardew: Hatem Ben Arfa is the new Luis Suarez Admin : samatoz
There was a report out in the Daily Mail earlier today that Ben Arfa was doubtful for tomorrow’s game against Stoke City becasue of a dead leg, but it looks like he will be OK according to the local news in Newcastle, and Ben Arfa is expected to be ready to play in the game tomorrow. And the proof that the French wizard will be involved tomorrow, either starting or coming off the bench comes directly from manager Alan Pardew. Considering it was Ben Arfa’s first senior game for three months last Thursday night, we thought he did very well, and of course he will only get better with more matches played. And if Papiss Cisse had been fit on Thursday night, the Senegal striker would have started and Ben Arfa would have been on the bench, and we suppose it could be the same thing for tomorrow, with Cisse still doubtful for that game with a virus. But Alan Pardew also has Shola Ameobi who could play the striker role, and so can Frenchman Yoan Gouffran.

Football Latest: Pardew: Ben Arfa our Suarez - Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is relishing the opportunity to unleash Hatem Ben Arfa on the Premier League again.
For those that thought that the Ben Arfa injury rumour was fake sorry to disappoint yous but i have read that he has a dead leg which he picked up in Europa League match with Anzhi. /Sam
On an absolutely freezing night in Moscow Newcastle were sound and resilient and kept players like Eto’o at bay to record a very good result of 0-0, and that was the first time in eight home matches in the Europa League that Anzhi have not won. Ben Arfa in action last night in Moscow After the game Alan Pardew has this to say to the Newcastle Journal: “With our crowd behind us we are in a good position. Our crowd can make players do strange things.” “But we’re pleased with a professional job. They are a good side.” “It was on a difficult pitch that we aren’t used to.” “That’s about as good as we could have played on that. They were right at it.” “And they have some fantastic players but we were so sound defensively.” “Rob had to make a couple of saves. Mapou was magnificent too. It all bodes well for next Thursday. If you are going to go through we need to win – now all we need to do is win any way we can.” “Rob made one outstanding save down to his right-hand side.” ...
MATCH DAY! Bring it on!!! Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse is out of Thursday's Europa League last 16 first leg match at Anzhi Makhachkala. Cisse did not travel to Russia because of a virus, meaning Shola Ameobi had to be drafted into the squad. "I didn't have any intention of bringing Shola," said Newcastle manager Alan Pardew. "[The Luzhniki Stadium] is a surface that he's been advised in the past not really to play on." Defender Fabricio Coloccini (back) also stayed in Newcastle. Winger Hatem Ben Arfa is in Russia and Pardew is hopeful he will play some part on Thursday. Ben Arfa has not played since tearing a hamstring during the 2-1 Premier League defeat at Fulham on 10 December. Pardew is expecting a tough encounter against a side that has the likes of ex-Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o and former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra in their ranks. "You need some luck, but you need a good technical game and you need to have the right mentality in the group. I think our mentality is strong," said Pard ...
Hatem Ben Arfa turns 26 years old this week. That's the age when footballers cease being young prospects. At 21, 23, 25, a top young player has the allure of untapped potential. They are talked about in terms of what they might achieve in the future. Whatever delights are being served up on the pitch in the present, there is always the tempting thought that it could get better. Better goals, breathtaking dribbles, and perhaps a career defining transfer to the pinnacle of the game. Ben Arfa has reached a crossroads in his career as he returns from ten weeks out with a serious hamstring injury. He is a genius. We've seen it in flashes at Newcastle. The stunning individual goals against Blackburn and Bolton, the electricity in the crowd when he gets the ball and has space. He can pass, inject pace into a move, and tear full backs apart. Or decide to rocket in a shot from long range. So already Ben Arfa is the real thing. For all the top class talent, mainly French, that Newcastle have assembled, Ben Arfa is ...
Ben Arfa has been working on his fitness over the last week at an accelerated pace, and that includes coming in over the weekend and doing extra work in an attempt to get him fit as soon as possible. Ben Arfa – could play on Thursday night And it looks like the French International will get some playing time in Thursday night’s Europa League tie in Russia, although his is unlikely to start that game. This is what Alan Pardew told the Shields Gazette today: “I think he’s got a chance.” “We wanted to put some work into him – he’s a little bit short.” “Whether he gets 20 or 30 minutes towards the end of that game, I don’t know. That’s probably the most he could get.” “We’ll see how he shapes up. He worked all weekend. Hopefully, we’ll get him even closer.” It could be a difficult game on Thursday night, as it’s being played on the artificial pitch of Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, which is the 78,000 capacity home of both Spartak Moscow and CSKA, but it’s a long long way fr ...
Following the unlucky defeat at Swansea, Alan Pardew updated everybody on the fitness of Fabricio Coloccini and Hatem Ben Arfa. The manager made it clear to the club’s official TV channel that he expects Ben Arfa to be available on Thursday but that Coloccini will be ruled out because of the astroturf pitch potentially aggravating his back injury, though he could return next Sunday for the Stoke match. Alan Pardew; “I think Hatem will feature on Thursday (v Anzhi) but not sure Colo will as it is on Astroturf and he’s obviously got aback injury, so that would be foolish on everybody’s part. I think there is half a chance for Colo on Sunday (v Stoke)”. With the Russian team second favourites to win the Europa League, it would be a massive help if Hatem Ben Arfa is available, even if it is only to come on for the last twenty or so minutes and have ago at them. Things appear more complicated with Coloccini, as reports this weekend had stated he was expected to be out for at least a month, as alway . ...

Arsenal to Launch £16m Bid for Newcastle United Winger Hatem Ben Arfa by Christian Bailey January 18th, 2013 Comments 13 Ben Arfa Arsenal Deal Emirates Stadium side ready to make concerted push to bring in long term Wenger target. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a January bid for Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa, a move that could tempt the French international into a move to the North London club. The Gunners boss is said to be ready to spend the transfer warchest he has been handed in order to strengthen his squad in pursuit of a top four finish and the coveted Champions League berth that is considered the very least Wenger must garner from the current campaign. Chelsea vs Arsenal tickets still available Alan Pardew has seen Demba Ba leave for Chelsea and now has to deal with the fact that his club captain, Fabricio Coloccini wants to return to his native Argentina. This may leave Ben Arfa considering his options, not least because the St James’ Park side have had a poor season and ...
Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa claims he is now interested in a move away from St James' Park, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool being his preferred destinations. The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a transfer away from the Magpies in the summer but he eventually chose to stay in the North East. The France international has now revealed that Chelsea were interested in signing him but he decided to continue with Alan Pardew's side, who finished above the Blues in the Premier League last season. "I am interested by Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Today, these clubs are over Newcastle," the former Marseille man told Goal.com, adding, "During the summer, there was contact with Chelsea. But I wanted to stay in Newcastle. Whoever tasted England, it's hard to go elsewhere. There is everything to be happy. Today, my goal is to stay in England." Ben Arfa has three goals and two assists to his name from 13 league appearances for Newcastle this season. The Frenchman has also stated that it would comple ...
Alan Pardew wants experienced players "We've got numerous injuries, we had a very young midfield today and if we had a bit more experience we could have got something, We've got no Cheick [Tiote], no Hatem [Ben Arfa], no [Yohan] Cabaye, no [Jonas] Gutierrez...blimey. "We've given a great account of ourselves but we've got no points, and that has to hurt. The goals against us were too soft and that's something we have to address. The last goal should be avoided really, it was a simple goal...and you end up with a really horrible afternoon when it could have been so much better for us." "It was a great effort but unfortunately no points. Our fans were brilliant today and we should have got something or them in my opinion."
Newcastle United vs Manchester City Missing Players Newcastle United Yohan Cabaye Haris Vuckic Steven Taylor Ryan Taylor Dan Gosling Gabriel Obertan Doubtful Manchester City Aleksandar Kolarov Micah Richards Gareth Barry Vincent Kompany Doubtful James Milner Doubtful Jack Rodwell Doubtful Team News Newcastle United Newcastle's injury list is slowly shortening, with Ba, Santon, Tiote and Ben Arfa all having come through the Fulham game last week unscathed. However, they still remain without 5 players, while Gabriel Obertan is a doubt and probably won't make it, though even if he is fit he would be unlikely to displace any of the forward 3. Alan Pardew will probably field a similar lineup to the one he did at Fulham, though may even drop Cisse and add in another central midfielder against a strong team like City. Manchester City Captain Vincent Kompany was forced off early on against Manchester United last week with a hamstring injury, and he is a severe doubt to make it back for the trip to Newcastle, with ...
Premier League Weekend Team News * A round-up of team news ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures. * Newcastle vs Manchester City * Newcastle boss Alan Pardew could be without Hatem Ben Arfa for Saturday's Barclays Premier League meeting with Manchester City. Steven Taylor (hamstring) and Yohan Cabaye (groin surgery) remain on Newcastle's long-term casualty list. Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is a major doubt for Saturday's trip to Newcastle. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew: "We've got our renewed energy back and got our senior players playing at the level they should be. We've got better balance to the team. Monday night gives us that extra day and this is massive for us. We're in good shape and we're in a good mood in the changing room. "Hatem [Ben Arfa] does the unexpected. Dimitar Berbatov is a class act for Fulham, but Hatem is that for us. Those two players are key tonight. It is up to us to keep Berbatov quiet.

A classic Premier League rivalry is renewed on Sunday afternoon, as Manchester United travel to Newcastle. Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for a response from his side after they lost to Tottenham in their last Premier League fixture, although Robin Van Persie inspired a Champions League victory in midweek. Alan Pardew will play his first home match since being awarded an 8-year-contract, and is expected to start with the leagues most in form striker Demba Ba for the visit of United. Ba opened the scoring in the corresponding fixture last season, with a superb half volley. Newcastle ran out 3-0 winners that night, in a match that eventually had a huge baring on where the title ended up. Pardew named a strong side for the midweek win over Bordeaux, but the fact the likes of Ba, Ben Arfa and Davide Santon remained unused substitutes suggested they will start Sunday’s clash. Defenders Fabricio Coloccini (hamstring) and Steven Taylor (calf) and Ryan Taylor remain unavailable. United have a long injury lis ...

Dear Newcastle and Alan Pardew, Let's have another successful season. Repeat Europa Leagues will be sufficient for me. If you wanna push to win it and earn yourselves a Champion Leagues spot, thats ok too... If you wanna somehow suck it up and win the Premier League, this is also O.K.! I'll definitely settle for another 5th place finish though. Maybe Alan, you should make a few extra signings just to be safe. I know Mike Ashley has one of the tightest *** in the world (usually due to his monster gambling problem) but try and squeeze a few GBP out of him. P.S. Don't spend more than 10m pounds on buying back Andy Carrol. Please. If you do, get Kevin Nolan back for less than the whopping 4m pound you sold him for, cause Carrol can't do it without him. PS.S. If you want to send me a free long sleeve 12/13 jersey with Ben Arfa "10" on the back that would also be quite nice. Joe Van Der Heide
