Here's something unusual . . . MOVIE BUFFS Take Note: I have a wide selection of old B&W movie stills (photos) that cover from Conan The Barbarian to the Trinity movies. Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, to The Beast Within. 1,000,000 years BC (Racquel Welch) to Ringo Starr's Caveman. Burt Lancaster, Burt Reynolds, Alan Arkin, Richard Dreyfuss . . . About 4-500 in all. Collected over 20 years in the industry and carried carefully for the past 30 years. Time to clear out my nostalgia boxes and make room in the garage. I can't display them all but maybe you can. I also have a small range of Daybills, 1 sheet posters, production notes (anyone want an original Star Wars production script?) and press kits for movies from the 1960's to 1980's. If you would like to see them, inbox me for a time and day and come on over! prices start from just $5.00 - $10.00 per still (some are much rarer and collectable than others), or buy heaps and get a really good deal.
IMDb/Bio Trivia About Greg Greg studied improvisation-in-acting with Oscar-winner Alan Arkin, founding member of Second City and co-star of Ben Affleck's film, "Argo." As a Hollywood biographer, profiled and then became close friends with and a protégé of James Andrew "Andy" Hervey (May 31, 1901-Dec. 2, 1987), the first head of publicity for Warner Brothers in the 1920s who then worked for MGM and Paramount as a "story planter" until his retirement in 1956. Hervey knew and worked with Hollywood legends from D.W. Griffith and Charlie Chaplin to Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, Spencer Tracy, James Stewart, Joan Crawford and William Holden, among others. Profiled some of the leading cartoonists and animators of the 20th century: three of Disney's "Nine Old Men" core animators from the studio's golden era (Ollie Johnston, Ward Kimball, Frank Thomas), Chuck Jones of Warner Brothers and MGM (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote), Joseph Barbera of Hanna-Barbera Productions (The Flintstones, Huckleberry Hound, Top ...
In a last-ditch effort to save his career, sports agent J.B. Bernstein (Jon Hamm) plans to find baseball's next star pitcher. He heads to India to find a cricket player whom he can nurture into a major league star. With the help of a scout (Alan Arkin), J.B. finds teens Dinesh (Madhur Mittal) and Rinku (Suraj Sharma), who haven't a clue about baseball but throw powerful pitches. As the boys adjust to American life, J.B. learns valuable lessons about teamwork and family.

Not only does this movie have a cast rich in talent (in one form or another), it's HILARIOUS! WHY have I never even HEARD of this movie before today??!!? It's. HOOT! :D
Million Dollar Arm Judd: In Million Dollar Arm, Jon Hamm plays JB Bernstein, an sports agent who, after working for “the big guys”, strikes out on his own. He’s got it all. A big house, a Porsche, pretty women – all, but an important client to pay the bills. About to lose his office and in a moment of desperation, JB figures out the next big untapped market is India and decides to scout cricket players to make into the next big American baseball star. Supporting cast includes Lake Bell, Alan Arkin, Aasif Mandvi, Madhur Mittal and Suraj Sharma. Swanner: Disney has really tried to capture the feel good sports movie genre in the last few years with Remember the Titans, Miracle, Secretariat and Invincible just to name a few. Million Dollar Arm tells a good story of a guy just trying to break out on his own and the young athletes he inspirers. It’s been very successful movie model for Disney. The movies are all very well received by the audiences and this one should fit in there nicely. Judd: Sports ...

Million Dollar Arm: Lake Bell, Bill Paxton, and Alan Arkin individually drastically improve any movie-- and all three are in this one.
Premise JB Bernstein, a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. He and his partner Aash (Aasif Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if JB doesn’t come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation? Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout (Alan Arkin) in tow, JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called “Million Dollar Arm” where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two Teenage finalists, Rinku and Dinesh (Suraj Sharma, Madhur Mittal), emerge as winners. JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House (Bill Paxton). The goal: get the boys signed to a major league team. Not only is the game itself difficult to master, but life in the U.S. with a committed bachelor makes things even more comp ...
Saw Million Dollar Arm last night. Good Fun! Usually films based on true stories exaggerate / hype-up the real-life feats / actions that they portay. This film does exactly the opposite. This almost 'chronicles' the story, adding limited drama to the story, and focusing primarily on the story per se. That is both refreshing and makes you exercise your imagination. The lack of melodrama in this film makes you try and imagine what the boys must have gone through in reality. And that is when you truly develop a renewed understanding of their struggle and hence, their success. The movie per se is fast & pacy. John Hamm does well and so do Surat Sharma & Madhur Mittal. Bill Paxton and Aash support well. Alan Arkin adds the extra special dose of humour. The one thing that the film could've done better is that it could've been more about the boys than about Hamm. However, since his story too, I can understand it being told from his point of view. All-in-all, Million Dollar Arm is a definite must-see. Hugely insp ...

Couildn't sleep, Got up and what was on TV. The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming. It has been years since I saw this movie but, it struck me that a movie made in 1966 during the cold war could be so appropriate now.. How did they know in 1966, how this over the top movie would be so prophetic in 2014. Pick your own political statement and you can find a character in this movie that fits it perfectly. Jonathan Winters, Paul Ford, Alan Arkin and most of the known character actors of the period including Carl Reiner. True satire only works when the political landscape is recognizable. And it is very recognizable. Norman Jewison was a genius.
The classic "The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming!", which will teach you more about the cold war than any history, is now on TCM--great turn by Alan Arkin--
Hadn't realized Alan Arkin was in it, he just about steals it. Bill Paxton also terrific as USC pitching coach. Definite see.

Just watched The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and it is absolutely hilarious and it is the granddaddy of all magician films. I thought Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi were well matched as superstar magicians, Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton and Jim Carrey proved to be a good comic foil as Steve Gray, Burt's rival magician. In addition, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, Jay Mohr, Brad Garrett, etc. have small memorable roles as well. James Gandolfini had an amusing role as Doug Munny, the owner of Bally's casino where Burt and Anton perform. The scene when Burt entertains a magic show for Judah at Judah's birthday party and Steve upstages him is a riot. A must see movie if you love Steve Carell or Jim Carrey or if you love magician movies. Rating 9/10.
There needs to be a Pixar film about Grumpy Cat, preferably voiced by Alan Arkin or Clint Eastwood.

is on. The Oscar race for supporting actor that year was so tough. Alan Arkin vs. Eddie Murphy. Both excellent. Tough to choose.
Same here! My parents loved to quote really oddball stuff, too, like The In-Laws with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin.

Movie review Grudge Match PG-13 1:53 Starring: Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone, Kim Bassinger, Alan Arkin, Kevin Hart, and Jon Bernthal When I first saw the previews of "Grudge Match" I exclaimed “Seriously! who is goanna want to watch 70 year old men box.” I thought it was going to be a cheap resurrection of Rocky vs Raging Bull. But I am happy to report I didn’t feel that way after watching it. Despite its many flaws Grudge Match delivered: it had an interesting plot and there was a steady stream of laughs. My best friend Sharon Cliché who lives in the US saw it first and said she liked it but I was still dubious and would not gone to see it hadn’t it been on her say so. This despite their nothing being on for us to watch this weekend at the movies Devil’s Due – not for me. The plot: Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone star as old boxing rivals who come out of retirement for one final match. On their first encounter in decades, their long-festering feud erupts into an unintentional ...

Just remembered an old movie from the 70s that I adored: The In-Laws starring Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. They asked for a caption to a shot from the film and I came up with: "We just risked our lives for the International Monetary Fund? I mean what the *** is that ..." (Falk).
