Air Force & Marine Corps

An air force, also known in some countries as an air army, is in the broadest sense, the national military organization that primarily conducts aerial warfare. A marine is a member of a force that specializes in expeditionary operations, such as amphibious assault and occupation. 5.0/5

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 (also known as Veterans Day), Franchisee Doc Wilhelm and his team at IHOP in Warrenton, Virginia created a "Table of Honor" to remember fallen veterans from each of the four military branches. They also placed a flyer on every table, providing guests with information about the Table: Table of Honor Honored guests, as you entered the dining area, you may have noticed a table centered in our dining area, raised to call your attention to its purpose -- it is reserved to honor our missing loved ones and comrades in arms. Set for five, the empty places represent Americans still missing from each of the five services -- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard. This Honors Table symbolizes that they are with us here, in spirit. Some of our honored guests today were very young when they were sent into combat; however, all Americans should never forget the brave men and women who answered our nation's call to serve and served the cause of freedom in a special way. Texas to Honor 10 Latino Generals from Across the Services San Antonio -- They'll be honored as "Las Estrellas de Tejas," stars of Texas. As 10 of the state's pioneering Latino military generals, they indeed retired with stars on their uniforms signifying service to the nation in the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps. On Wednesday at St. Mary's University, the Hispanic Heritage Center of Texas will honor their contributions as it always does -- by reaching back into history. Today's South Texas Latino servicemen and women in faraway lands and under constant danger are the descendants -- in some cases literally -- of the state's first Spanish and Tejano soldiers and settlers. When they began to arrive in 1690, they not only took up their posts but helped build the state's first roads, towns, ranches and governments, says Rudi Rodriguez, founder of the center, one of the state's newest historical organizations devoted to the Tejano experience. Those military leaders did double duty, serving as the state's fi ...

Expanding U.S. Strikes to ISIS in Syria, Has Obama Opened New Phase of "Perpetual War"? The United States has launched airstrikes in Syria targeting the Islamic State, as well as members of a separate militant organization known as the Khorasan group. The Pentagon says U.S. forces launched 47 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles from warships in the Red Sea and North Arabian Gulf. In addition, U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps fighters, bombers and drones took part in the airstrikes. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 20 Islamic State fighters were killed in strikes that hit at least 50 targets in Raqqa and Deir al-Zor provinces in Syria's east. The United States says Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had either participated or supported the strikes against the Islamic State, which has seized swaths of Syria and Iraq. The United States acted alone against the Khorasan group, saying it "took action to disrupt the imminent attack plotting against the ...

President Obama has returned to the White House and tomorrow is scheduled to speak before the American Legion 96th National Convention in Charlotte, NC. I want everyone to remember what Obama has done to our military. He has enacted policy decisions resulting in an Army as small as it was in 1940, before conscription; a US Marine Corps resembling post World War I numbers; a Navy the size it was in 1917, before our entry into World War I; an Air Force flying the oldest — and smallest — fleet of planes in its history; and a nuclear arsenal no larger than it was during the Truman administration. And let us not forget Obama embraced the family of a deserter while deserting Marine SGT Andrew Tahmooressi. He continues to tell our enemies what HE is not willing to do -- and the result of that weakness? A beheaded American. So what lies will be spun tomorrow as he takes the stage? Obama has rejected the Reagan policy of "peace through strength" and his administration has not been truthful about the VA scand . ...
If your prior Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.. I salute your service.. But enough of making fun of the Air Force.. Many who serve there serve with pride and in most respects.. its the pilots who do the major war fighting within that branch. most of the enlisted force purpose is to support the war fighting component.. So if you think that people who serve in the USAF are not in the military.. then you really never bothered to learn the mission of that service.. I can point to those in the Army, the Navy, the Marines who really don't do anything either..

The Dark Side of Mefloquine A Nightmare Drug, Military Suicides and Killings by MARTHA ROSENBERG The malaria drug Lariam (mefloquine) is linked to grisly crimes like Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales’ 2012 murder of 16 Afghan civilians, the murders of four wives of Fort Bragg soldiers in 2002 and other extreme violence. While the FDA beefed up warnings for mefloquine last summer, especially about the drug’s neurotoxic effects, and users are now given a medication guide and wallet card, Lariam and its generic versions are still the third most prescribed malaria medication in the US. Last year there were 119,000 prescriptions between January and June. Though Lariam/mefloquine is banned in Air Force pilots, until 2011, it was on the increase in the Navy and Marine Corps.

The Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan, which has served as the Department of Defense's primary air mobility hub supporting the U.S. Central Command area of operations since late 2001, is closing in July 2014 and a large part of its mission is shifting to Mihail Kogalniceanu (MK) Air Base, Romania. MK Air Base is located adjacent to the city of Constanta, home to the Black Sea's largest port, and has been used for years as a multi-modal, multiservice cargo hub and has routinely hosted U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps forces for training and exercises. With the closing of Manas, MK is now adding the mission of serving as a primary transit center for personnel retrograde operations from Afghanistan, led by U.S. Army Europe's 21st Theater Sustainment Command in concert with Romanian forces, the Air Force, Army Materiel Command, the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, and other Army and U.S. Transportation Command partners. Proposal to Cut Active-Duty Air Force Would Free up Funds for Equipment and Training National Journal, 31 Jan 14 Sandra Erwin math is still a bit fuzzy on exactly how much money the U.S. Air Force could save if it shifted jobs from the active-duty force to the National Guard and Reserve. But there are, for sure, big savings to be had, insists retired Marine Corps general Dennis M. McCarthy. McCarthy, chairman of the National Commission on the Structure of the Air Force, pressed his case during a meeting with reporters Jan. 31 following the release of the panel’s provocative report, which calls for a significant transfer of responsibilities from the active to the reserve force. Air Force leaders have wrestled for years over ways to cope with financial pressures, such as the rising cost of airmen compensation and benefits, and the impact that these programs could have on other portions of the service's budget. They worry that, in the face of flat or declining budgets, the cost of people will eat into big- ...

As I write this in, my amazing son is in processing at MEPS in Cleveland for entrance into the United Sates Air Force! Some of you may know he was in the Marine Corps but tore his shoulder labrum in bootcamp after it had already been fixed. He has spent the last year rehabbing and training with the single minded purpose of going back into service. He chose the Air Force since the marines would make him wait another year before entrance. USAF disqualified him for Military Service initially but the Surgeon General of the Air Force reversed the decision! Something I am told rarely happens! I'm so proud of him, so please send blessings his way today for a successful ASVAB score and smooth processing. He will be testing all morning and spending all day in red tape. I am SO proud of him! Thank you to our Military members, past/present and to their families...it takes a lot of guts, strength and love to sign on the dotted line.love you buddy!

The birth of a United States Marine.. The Armed Forces are unique in many ways, all are held to a high standard, but there is one very major difference in the service they serve in... ABOARD THE USS LAKE ERIE — Approaching from the Hawaii coast, the mosquito-shaped helicopter buzzed around this guided-missile cruiser twice before swooping toward the landing pad. The Navy crew on the deck crouched, the helmeted faces betraying more than routine concern as the aircraft, flown by a pilot who had never before alighted upon a ship, hovered a foot off the tarmac and then set down with a thud. The sailors’ trepidation was prompted by three words painted in black block letters on the drab olive fuselage: United States Army. The Army, which fights on terra firma, does not usually land its helicopters on ships — the domain of the Navy and the Marine Corps — but these are not usual times in the U.S. military. As the Obama administration winds down the Army-centric war in Afghanistan, Pentagon leaders are seeking to place the Air Force, Navy and Marines in dominant roles to counter threats in the Asia-Pacific region, which they have deemed to be the nation’s next big national security ch ...

No if u join the military look into Marine Corps, Navy or Air Force
You might enjoy this from Col D. G. Swinford, USMC, Ret., and history buff. You would really have to dig deep to get this kind of ringside seat to history: 1. The first German serviceman killed in WW II was killed by the Japanese (China, 1937). The first American serviceman killed was killed by the Russians (Finland 1940); highest ranking American killed was Lt. Gen Lesley McNair, killed by the US Army Air Corps. So much for allies. 2. The youngest US serviceman was 12 year old Calvin Graham, USN. He was wounded and given a Dishonorable Discharge for lying about his age. His benefits were later restored by act of Congress. 3. At the time of Pearl Harbor, the top US Navy command was called CINCUS (pronounced 'sink us'); the shoulder patch of the US Army's 45th Infantry Division was the Swastika, and Hitler's private train was named 'Amerika.' All three were soon changed for PR purposes. 4. More US servicemen died in the Air Corps than the Marine Corps. [Actually the 8th Air Force alone suffered about 5,000 ...

Marine Corps - Army - Navy - Air Force rld is knowing that someone else doesnt like you,
Analysis, Military, Stratagem October 22, 2013 Army’s next challenge: The ocean Source: Politico The U.S. Army has proved over its 238-year history that it can fight and win almost anywhere — in the jungles, deserts or mountains. The next venue, however, might prove to be the most difficult: oceans. President Barack Obama’s strategic “rebalance” to the Western Pacific was good news for three Military Services: the Navy, whose ships sail on or under the vast ocean; the Marine Corps, whose troops deploy from them; and the Air Force, which needs long-range weapons and aircraft to cover the skies. Less so for the Army with its heavy tanks and infantry formations. The Army says it has an important role, too, but selling its sibling services, Pentagon leaders and Congress on what that is has become a full-time job. As the Army gathers this week for its annual meeting at the Washington Convention Center, attendees are reminded that it’s playing for the highest stakes. If it can convince the Pentagon ...
Spending the evening with my dad and uncle, both combat veterans of the Vietnam War, at a military reunion. My dad (Air Force) and uncle (Marine Corps) served multiple tours in Vietnam and were stationed at and around Da Nang at the same time in 1965. I absolutely love getting the opportunity to hear stories about their experiences.
why is it so hard for people to know the difference between the Army, Marine Corps, Navy & Air Force ?! they aren't all Soldiers
You'd be a Corporal in the Marine Corps & Army, a Petty Officer Second Class in the Navy, & an Airman First Class in Air Force.
"The Army and the Navy are run like traditional Military Services, Air Force like a corporation. But the Marine Corps …

Daily Paul Liberty Forum DP Original Let's take another trip down the rabbit hole, shall we? Lost in the Edward Snowden debate is a critical look at his former employer, the company doing the spying on Americans in the first place: Booz Allen Hamilton. Booz Allen Hamilton is a government contractor, with 99% of its revenue coming from the US government. Not only does it receive money from the NSA, but also the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and ... the IRS. In addition, Booz Allen is heavily connected to the CIA. Among the individuals involved in running the company, we have: James Clapper - current Director of National Intelligence (DNI), head of NSA, the man who lied to Congress about the fact that NSA is actively spying on Americans, is a former executive Mike McConnell - a current executive of the company, had Clapper's job (DNI) during George W. Bush's administration (keep it in the family, eh?) -- he worked for Booz Al ...
The Future of Joint Operations When I joined the Army in 1974, the United States military claimed to be committed to joint operations, but it was not. In Vietnam, the Air Force, Army, and Navy all fought completely different air wars, and Army and Marine generals sometimes disagreed on basic strategy on the ground. Almost a decade later in Grenada, tactical coordination between the Army and Marine Corps had improved only marginally. Incompatible communication systems caused numerous problems between ground forces and naval aviators, and led to a friendly fire incident that wounded 17 soldiers. By the 1991 Gulf War, inter-service cooperation had progressed, but not enough; the Army excluded the Marines from much of their ground operations planning and all of the services disagreed on how to use their respective air assets. More than 40 years after the creation of the Department of Defense, the U.S. Armed Forces still struggled to shoot, move, communicate, plan, or cooperate as a fully joint force. Today, t ...
Cleaning Up Shop Inspectors on fleetwide hunt for anything offensive (NAVY TIMES 24 JUN 13) ... Tony Lombardo Navy and Marine inspectors have less than two weeks to roam all workspaces and community areas to root out anything that hints at being lewd, crude or just plain offensive to your co-workers. The workplace inspections are a mandate from Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel as part of ongoing efforts to curb sexual assaults plaguing the services — and a culture that has tolerated them for too long. Hagel ordered in May that the Army, Navy and Marine Corps conduct inspections similar to ones conducted by the Air Force last year. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus outlined how he wants his services to proceed via a fleetwide message, ALNAV 038/13, issued June 7. Leaders have since been hustling to execute the order.
The Navy is expected to announce today that it will purchase 99 V-22 Ospreys for $6.5 billion. The order will include 92 MV-22 Ospreys for the Marine Corps and seven CV-22 versions for the Air Force, with advanced radars and extra fuel tanks for Special Forces operations: do you think of the purchase?
The director of our Operations Division (which includes HR/personnel) did some tallying and shared the following: 100 out of 140 GDVS employees (71 percent) have proudly served our nation: 57 Army 4 Marine Corps 17 Navy 19 Air Force 1 Coast Guard
I am Don (US Air Force, Alabama Air National Guard) Father of Matt (US Army, Tennessee National Guard, two tours in Iraq) Father-in-Law of Mark (US Marine Corps) Son of Milton (US Army, World War 2, North Africa, Sicily, and Italy) Son-in-Law of Otis (US Navy, World War 2, Atlantic and Pacific Theaters) Nephew of Joseph Donald (US Army, World War 2, Burma Campaign) Proud cousin and nephew of other military members. I can trace my line to two Civil War veterans. To all those brothers and sisters who have served and are now serving, you have the respect and thanks of a grateful nation. We all understand that the preservation of the Nation is more important than the life of an individual - if you don't understand this, ask someone who knows and be prepared for the answer.
From "American Minute" for May 19th: Army Day, Navy Day and Air Force Day were combined in 1949 to be Armed Forces Day, celebrated the 3RD SATURDAY IN MAY. Army Day formerly was the date the US entered World War I. Navy Day was President Theodore Roosevelt's birthday. Air Force Day was the day the War Department established a division of aeronautics. President Richard Nixon remarked on Armed Forces Day, MAY 19, 1973, at Norfolk Naval Base: “Men and women who wear the uniform of our country are supposed to salute the Commander in Chief...but on this day, I, as your Commander in Chief, salute you, each and every American who serves in our Army, our Navy, our Air Force, our Marine Corps, and our Coast Guard. Your courage, your steadfastness are the backbone of America's influence for peace around the world... We owe you...a debt of gratitude we can never fully repay... -to the more than 2 million men and women now serving in uniform; -to the millions of veterans who have returned to civilian life; -to tho ...

Retired U.S. Air Force pilot Ken Lang is quick to agree he is a lucky man.  He flew 100 reconnaissance missions over Viet Nam and came home safe. So did his son, who was a U.S. Marine Corps pilot in Afghanistan.  When he made this milestone 100th blood donation at the Dayton Community Blood Center (CBC) Monday, May 13 it was with the spirit that he must have more than enough luck to pass around. “I don’t do a lot of charity work,” he said.  “This is my one small way of helping out.”  Ken, who lives in Beavercreek, has been helping out for a long time.  In fact, his 100 milestone reflects only the blood donations on record with CBC. “I used to donate when I was in the Air Force,” he said. “I was a flyer, so I had to make sure I wouldn’t be flying for about a week. They didn’t want you to fly right after donating. I started doing it to help out my fellow Air Force people and it went on from there.” During his 15 years of Active Duty he flew trainers then piloted the RF-4C Phantom ...

Due to the sequester, the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard have all cut tuition...
The Tuition Assistance program has been cancelled in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps. What...
Massive budget cuts have forced the Army, Marine Corps, and Navy to cancel the tuition assistance program. Experts say the Air Force will likely follow suit. The program provides up to $4,500 dollars per year, for each student. It's been a major perk for new recruits, moving from the ditches to a desk. It gives service men and women a head start on higher education. It all stems from sequestration. Steve Duncan PhD, director of military programs at East Carolina University admits it's a major cut. "In the army alone, army, National Guard, and reserves, there is a little over 200,000 students who are using this benefit," he explained. The cuts do not affect the G.I. Bill benefits once service members finish serving. There are also still grants and scholarships specifically for service members. But with the Department of Defense facing millions of dollars in cuts, it's either benefits or bullets. "When Defense has to make cuts, they try to take things that have the least impact on combat readiness," Duncan ...
“In the Army, you can be “An Army of One.” You can “Aim High” in the Air Force, you can “Accelerate your Life” in the Navy, and you can earn money for college in the National Guard. But only in the Marine Corps is the emphasis on contributing to a success-oriented team. For that reason, the camaraderie among Marines, the loyalty to the Corps and to each other, is unmatched.” Excerpt From: Angie Morgan & Courtney Lynch. “Leading from the Front.” McGraw-Hill, 2012-05-09. iBooks. One of my favorite books. No excuse leadership tactics for women from female Marines.
"Why did you choose the Marine Corps?" Army Navy wasn't for me, Air Force was too easy.
Military Common Sense Rules A lot of life's problems can be explained by the U.S. Military and its applications of common sense ... 1. "Sometimes I think war is God's way of teaching us geography." (Paul Rodriguez) 2. "A slipping gear could let your M203 grenade launcher fire when you least expect it. That would make you quite unpopular in what's left of your unit." (Army's magazine of preventive maintenance ). 3. "Aim towards the Enemy." (Instruction printed on US M79 Rocket Launcher) 4. When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend. (U.S. Marine Corps) 5. Cluster bombing from B-52s is very, very accurate. The bombs always hit the ground. (U.S. Air Force) 6. If the enemy is in range, so are you. (Infantry Journal) 7. It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed. (US Air Force Manual) 8. Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons. (Gen. MacArthur) 9. Try to look unimportant; they may be low on ammo. (Infantry Journal ...

The Military Officers' Wives' Club's Krewe of CAMAN (Coast Guard, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy) entertained more than 300 Active Duty, reserve and retired military officers and their guests at the krewe's 40th annual Carnival ball Saturday evening (Jan 5) at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. The ball's theme was "Hats Off to Paris." Mrs. Terry Paulson, Queen Festivities began with a welcome extended by ball captain Ms. Brenda Sinclair. She then introduced the ball lieutenant, Mrs. Bobbie Whiddon, wife of retired Capt. David Whiddon, U.S. Navy. As tradition dictated, the Marine Forces Reserve Band entered at the sound of the whistle and proceeded to play under the direction of Drum Major Staff Sgt. Joe Keogh. The band was led by Band Officer Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bryan Sherlock with the assistance of Bandmaster Maj. Sgt. Kevin Hunter. What would you like to see in VINYL--Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force (and props to my cousin, Coast Guard) or/and civillians?
Ok, so it's Monday, it's too totally freaking cold for it being the "Sun City!" But you know what? I chose this life, because.I AM AN ARMY WIFE! AND A *** PROUD ONE AT THAT!!! Good morning all my Army wives, Navy wives, Marine Corps wives, Coast Guard wives, Air Force wives, National Guard wives! Past, present and future, active and reserve! We are strong, proud and loud!
Do you know about Scott & Becky Anderson? Former Staff Sergeant Christopher Scott Anderson (US Marine Corps) and Captain Rebecca Anderson (US Air Force) came and paid us a visit from Hickam Air Force Base, all the way in Hawaii! They were in town for family, and they took the hour-long drive on the Wednesday night we spent outside to see our group. They didn't know they were going to be my example of service! What you don't know is that both are a constant encouragement to me, helping me focus on God's goals instead of my limits. When we went through Daniel, Scott even shipped over 4 huge books (tomes!) for me to study in preparation. They didn't need to do any of that at all, but they are a God-focused family. When His work is being done, they do all they can to support (or become) the workers. They are my sister and brother-in-law, and they'll be in town the weekend of March 9th for some reason. If you see them, thank them for their service to our youth group and to our country!
yes but there is also Air Force, Marine Corps, Army, and I think National Guard too. All right next to each other.
Joining the Navy... tossing bulimia: I pulled up to the building divided into Marine, Army, Air Force, and Navy recruiting offices. I’d seen it several times because I used to pay my cell phone bill next door. I would look at it, rolling my eyes at the thought of anyone wanting to enlist. It seemed like such a ridiculous establishment full of rules and mindless drills. But there I was, feeling as out of place as ever at the mere thought of what I was about to do. President Bush had just declared the War on Terrorism a few months before. I knew that joining the Army and Marine Corps would be a one-way ticket to some Middle Eastern battleground. I may have been loaning my freedom, but I was never willing to die for my country. I felt zero drive to sacrifice my own life for the conflicts between politicians. With no desire to wind up in some nowhere town like Tinker, Oklahoma, I skipped the Air Force section and went right for the Navy. With the Navy, I had a high probability of getting stationed in a beac ...
Good morning, Okinawa! For those of you Single Sailors out there enjoying a plate of delicious Christmas Cookies, I wanted to post this note from Lynn Maucieri who led the remarkable team of Air Force, Navy, Army and Marine Corps wives who contributed their time (and ovens) to get them to you. Stormy Dear spouses and volunteers, Words can not express the togetherness and love I felt from this years "Cookie Drive." From start to finish everyday I felt the highest respect for each of you. What you have done to pull this all together and work as a team is amazing! I am proud to say that I was part of your team. So I have a few numbers to pass on. This all started with the Civil Engineering Group ladies stepping up to handle the advertisement with flyers. They distributed about 600 at the Exchange and Commissary along with candy canes asking people to bake. Ms. Yolanda led a great team, collecting all the cookies, setting them up and keeping all the bins filled. Starting on the 11th, Ms. Tina lead a g ...

It's a chance for the community to come together to support those in need right in our own community. Air Force, Army and Marine Corps holiday relief programs will all be on hand taking donations. We're honored to have the Airman & Family Readiness Center joining us with the Angel Tree program. The Angel Tree helps provide financial relief through the pu...rchase of gifts for children. Contributions can come in the form of an Army and Air Force Exchange Service or Commissary gift card. In 2011, 251 KMC families and 482 children received donations through this program. It's a simple program with a big impact! The Commissary will also be on site with us to make purchasing gift cards for the Angel Tree even easier. We'll broadcast live on our AM & FM stations from 10 to 6 Friday.
We provide vehicle and equipment maintenance for the United States Army, Air Force, Marine Corps as well as companies in the private sector.
duty of a person is to earn an extra star in professions, for career progression, having 3 meals a day and a sex every night, are not everything in life. Mayor, city of LA = 4 star rank, same as an army general. 1 to 4 generally in a state. LAPD Chief = 2 star, equals to a marine general, 2 star can actually flip fingers at 4 star, same as Korean military coup leaders. LA City Councilman = starts at 1, like Brigadier. Chair of City Council = 3 in LA. Governor[8] = eight star rank Senator = 7. Congressman = starts at 3 star then 3, 4, 5 (Chair), 6, 7, etc. County Supervisor = 4 star, same as army, navy and air force leaders. County Sheriff = 3 star, can be compared to the Lt. General of Marine Corps or Air Force. County Prosecutor or District Attorney = 4 star, should be good enough to be a Vice President at universities. Therefore, C O U N T Y [6] = Mayor of LA, DA and 4 Country Supervisors. Problem is Cal State Northridge, CSULA, CSULB, CSUDH and Cal Poly Pomona, that causes 5 supervisors. University Pre ...
