Which branch of service does your family's hero serve in? Please comment & share. With the 2014 Army vs. Navy game history, we are back to all playing and supporting "America's Team." America's team has a few names - Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, National Guard, Navy and Marines. So, which type of uniform does your American hero wear? (You can have more than one answer.)

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 (also known as Veterans Day), Franchisee Doc Wilhelm and his team at IHOP in Warrenton, Virginia created a "Table of Honor" to remember fallen veterans from each of the four military branches. They also placed a flyer on every table, providing guests with information about the Table: Table of Honor Honored guests, as you entered the dining area, you may have noticed a table centered in our dining area, raised to call your attention to its purpose -- it is reserved to honor our missing loved ones and comrades in arms. Set for five, the empty places represent Americans still missing from each of the five services -- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard. This Honors Table symbolizes that they are with us here, in spirit. Some of our honored guests today were very young when they were sent into combat; however, all Americans should never forget the brave men and women who answered our nation's call to serve and served the cause of freedom in a special way. Matters not if they are overseas or at their duty station in the states they are not at home with their loved ones. THANK YOU one and all men and women serving our country. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard. May the LORD guide, protect and bless you.
Happy Veteran's day to all that have served past and present. It was an honor serving with many of you and I have since been lucky enough to support the Navy and Air Force as a civilian. There is no bigger honor than serving a cause bigger than yourself. I wish more Americans could have that feeling by serving or volunteering for some service; military, Coast Guard, Red Cross, Peace Corps, etc. Service is what makes our country great.
Whether it was the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard, or the National Guard,
Veterans Day Thank You by James D Carter Sr. (Covington, GA, USA) They volunteered, they were drafted, they started a family tradition or carried one on. They left farms, small towns, big cities and high paying jobs. They are male and female, Sons and Daughters, Moms and Dads, Husbands and Wives. They leave with tears of sadness and come home with tears of joy. Sometimes they come back covered with the American Flag, sometimes the Soldiers body never makes it home, but their souls live and wait for loved ones in the comfort of Heaven. Sometimes they come back without body parts and disfigured, suffering the rest of their days on earth in pain. All times they serve because they are a special breed, they are Soldiers, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard. They do it for you and me, they do it so Americans can live in freedom, yes even those who protest against them live in the same freedom, “The United States of America.” We shed tears when they die and we don’t even know who they are, but they ...
God Sunday morning everybody. This is the day that many churches, and Patriotic Americans will celebrate the freedom enjoyed by those brave men and women that have served us in the diverse Military Services whether Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard. When we raise our flags, please put your hand over your hearts as you say the pledge of Allegiance. I so appreciate our troops, and the love of our great God, that I can't stand to see the flag burned, spit on, and people doing the same with God. God resist the proud but gives grace to the humble. Did you know the worm in the apple did not bore into the apple, but the egg was laid in the flower, that turned into the apple, and that means the worm bore out of the apple. This will preach ya'll. The seed of sin is in the heart from birth because of Adam's sin, but by the great grace of God and by Christ blood, we can have victory in the Holy Ghost. God bless the troop, and God Bless America. Love you all.

I absolutely HATE it when people mess up The National Anthem (or in tonight's case - God Bless America) when singing at sporting events. Just sing the friggin' song - everybody already knows you're good or you wouldn't have been invited to sing the song on television at a major sporting event - don't try and impress viewers/listeners with your improvised/personalized (and sometimes unrecognizable) rendition of a song everyone knows - it just shows us (a) how impressed with yourself you are for no apparently objective reason, or (2) your complete lack of appreciation for people who are not tone deaf and are moderately familiar with national songs - one or the other. And I don't care if you're a multi-platinum super rock/country/hip-hop/jazz star or an Air Force Master Sergeant - STOP IT. And to event coordinators - wanna get all us all goosey-bumpy with patriotic chills running up and down our spines and tears in our eyes? Get a Marine, Air Force, Army, Navy or Coast Guard band to play the *** song - t ...

Science says... WHO FORMED THE IDEA OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL? The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was founded by Jan Scruggs, who served in Vietnam (in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade) from 1969-1970 as a infantry corporal. He wanted the memorial to acknowledge and recognize the service and sacrifice of all who served in Vietnam. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. (VVMF), a nonprofit charitable organization, was incorporated on April 27, 1979, by a group of Vietnam veterans (John Wheeler, Chairman of the Board for VVMF, served in Vietnam as a captain at U.S. Army headquarters from 1969-1970; Robert Doubek, VVMF project director, then executive director, served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 as an Air Force intelligence officer) in Washington, D.C. Jan Scruggs (President of VVMF) lobbied Congress for a two acre plot of land in the Constitution Gardens. Significant initial support came from U.S. Senators Charles McC. Mathias, Jr. (on November 8, 1979, Senator Mathias introduced legislation to authorize a site of nation ...

I must speak of the VA scandal. We in the military have known this since the Viet Nam war. If you have to go to the VA for medical care there is a good chance you won't survive. Not all VA hospitals are bad.but when they are bad they are worse than bad. In 1979 I raised my hand and vowed (made a promise from my heart in front of God and country) to defend this nation against all enemies foreign or domestic. In exchange for 20 years of my life, giving up freedom of choice and where I wanted to live, and for not the greatest pay in the world, the government promised to take care of me the rest of my life through retirement pension, use of base facilities such as legal, commissary, and health benefits. This VA scandal has me down right livid.I am outraged to the point I'm almost ashamed to call myself an American. It's not about me. I made sure that I have civilian insurance in case I get sick. But my brethren, from the Air Force, Marines, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard sometimes don't have the benefits that I ...

We put “Frankenstein,” primarily because that’s precisely the name of the role used ON Saturday Night Live (as seen in the image linked to this post). We know, as most learned people do, that the character is actually Frankenstein’s monster. However, since SNL used “Frankenstein,” that’s what we put. We temporarily lost the 7 here, bu ...

Okay so have you ever been soo bored that you end up looking at the different branches Uniform regs? Lol i'm soo tired and strung out I found myself looking at the Coast Guard uniform regs cause I was wondering about their Tropical Blue uniform and completely forgot to look for what I was originally looking for. All I wanted to know is if they wore a tie with their short sleeves like the Air Force does. Oh well. :P Personally I think a tie with short sleeves just seems wrong. ~Swisher
OK everyone - I was given permission to post this - so here goes: Y'all may remember that in Dec. I posted that my son, Cody Smith was taking his physical to get into the Coast Guard. I didn't update because he was told he didn't pass and would have to have a waiver (governmental red tape/approval for a potential future problem) which meant he might or might get the waiver; might or might not be taken with a waiver, etc. It was a very trying time - thought he'd have to change or give up his plans of service altogether. A couple of weeks ago, the recruiter called, said the waiver went through, and said that even though Cody was considering the Air Force, would he still be interested. Long story short - the recruiter called again this week, told Cody that everything was cleared, they had a space for him, and he would get the job he was interested in (Medical Technician) and he would be leaving no later than September of this year. Cody called him on Thursday and told him he would go Coast Guard. So as of F ...

The Gendarmerie and the Coast Guard, both of which have Law Enforcement and military functions, operate as components of the internal security forces in peacetime, and are subordinate to the Ministry of Interior. In wartime, they are subordinate to the Army and Navy. The President of Turkey is the military's overall head.
On this day be thankful for all of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and everyone else that put their lives on the line for our freedom. And the Police, Firemen and all the folks that put our safety and freedom first priority.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE BADLY CRITICIZING THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT FOR ITS POOR SLOW RESPONSE. PLEASE READ THIS COMMENTARY. = This calamity, this disaster, is the worst of its kind in the WORLD. It might just be the strongest, most destructive typhoon in the history of human civilization. Any country who would experience this would be dealt upon a great blow. Now, please consider these: 1.) The Philippines is a third-world country. The country's entire Air Force owns only three working C130 (cargo) planes. Only three! And it's supposed to serve a country of 100-million citizens! So are they too slow in delivering relief goods, medical equipment, personnel, etc.? But of course! Let us understand that they are limited by the resources that they have. I could imagine how eager our military/government personnel are to help! 2.) In Tacloban, out of around 200-plus police officers, only twenty of them reported for duty the day after the storm. Yes, 20! The couple of hundred others cannot be reached or found. Most l ...
Order of Precedence for Flag Display According to the Department of Defense Directive 1005.8, the prescribed precedence of military flags is determined by service birthdays. The appropriate order is given below: Army Birthday --14 June 1775 Marine Corps Birthday – 10 November 1775 Navy Birthday – 13 Oct 1775-Abolished Feb 1781-Reinstated 7 Sep 1781 Air Force Birthday – 18 September 1947 *Coast Guard Birthday – 4 August 1790 *During peacetime the Coast Guard falls under the Department of Homeland Security. During wartime, if the Coast Guard comes under the control of the Department of Defense, then the Coast Guard flag would come before the Air Force flag in order of precedence.

The Core Standards of Veterans Day by Tim Ramsey Throughout the week, students and their teachers bustled about covering every window, door, wall, fence - every inch of the campus with red, white and blue decorations. Streamers hung from the ceilings inside, from the rafters outside, and even from every tree in the courtyard. Celebrating Veterans Day is a big thing at my school - almost as exciting as the Christmas season that follows. Last minute touches were being made as the sun began to set Thursday evening. Finally, students began calling their parents for late rides home. When the sun rose less than twelve hours later, these very same students and their teachers were back hanging balloon arches, additional signage and streamers. They set up chairs for the many veterans who would attend the annual ceremony. They greeted men and women representing the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard. They escorted each to the hospitality room for coffee and pastries and then to their seats. T ...
On Veterans Day remember those few that have sacrificed so much for so many. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard &…
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns fell silent in the War to End all Wars. In 1919 the first day of Remembrance was observed. Eventually Veterans Day was incorporated into the day the Armistice was signed. This is a day to honor our Veterans both living and passed on. Each and every man and woman who served deserves a place of honor in our hearts. They served knowing they could be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice for a nation that didn't even know their name. It didn't matter whether they served in the Army, Army Air Corp/Air Force, Coast Guard, Maries, Navy, Reserves or Merchant Marine. They SERVED. I can not begin to name all of the Veterans that I know and admire but to name a few my father Robert James Hough. my grandfather Delbert Hough, my uncle Delbert Hough Jr., my brother Thomas Hough. Just remember that without our veterans we would be a subject people. when you see one today, take time to shake his/her hand and let them know you appreciate th ...

Thankful for all men and women who have placed their own lives on pause to join and serve our nation and our ideas. Whether it be Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. Reserve, Active Duty, and National Guard. Without anyone willing to do so; there is no way to know what or who we would be; but, we probably would bot be Proud Americans.
Great use of a pumpkin! Go Navy for Rick, Neil, Brent, Keith; Army for Andy & Sam; Marines for Roy (KIA); Air Force for Roy, Ross, Bill, Val, and last but not least Coast Guard for Allen. And that's just a few of my family member who have served or are now serving. Thank You and the Rest who sacrifice(d).

Every Marine should have one. BTW, where are you Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard members? I would bet y'all can get one too!

This may be long, but this is a topic that we should all be focusing on right now! Sexual Assault is NOT acceptable and does NOT belong in our Armed Services. The Military's 'Broken' System Dayton Daily News July 7, 2013 Pg. 1 Victims: Complaints bring retaliation or no action against the perpetrator. Air Force: Commanders must retain authority to discipline service members. By Mary McCarty and Barrie Barber, Staff Writers There... have been many days after her brutal sexual assault when former Coast Guard seaman Kori Cioca wishes she could die -- when the only thing that keeps her tethered to this world are her 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. "I'm disgusted by my own body," she confessed, "and I want out of this body so bad sometimes." The 4-foot-11-inch, 100-pound Warren County woman wishes she could obliterate the memory of her 6-foot-3-inch, 275-pound attacker slugging her in the jaw and, days later, dragging her by the hair into his berth and raping her. She wishes she could erase the respons ...
Happy Birthday America. As you get older, you learn lots of lessons and figure out what is important in life. I always struggle with Independence day because it is so bittersweet. I am thankful for my country, and remember those who died and were hurt fighting for its liberties and freedoms. I think America will look in the mirror today and say, "Yes, I'm one year older. Where am I going from here?" And we as a nation have to stand up and say, "This is your goal. This is what we should fight for this year." Thank you to all our friends in the Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, National Guard, Reserves and veterans groups.

Just think if Hitler had the same kind of data center that was built in Utah in his time? He wouldn't have needed neighbors to turn in neighbors. There probably wouldn't have been any Jews left in Germany. Well, I guess this is mainly for Tea Party, Christians, right-wing, conservatives, Jews, people with a different opinion, ex-Army, ex-Navy, ex-Marines, ex-Air Force, maybe even the Coast Guard, if you and yours weren't mentioned, feel free to add your name too. So, Bush gets the Patriot Act passed, construction begins, Obama, says he won't do wire tapping etc. 2007, and he's been checking on the AP, Fox News Reporters, but don't worry he's not going to read this post. Excuse me, I hear a knock at the door, Well hello there Officer. You say, you received an anonymous tip there is a disturbance at this address and you would like to look around? Well, I would officer but there's this thing called the 4th Amendment to the Constitution so I'll decline your offer but thanks anyway.
I'm former Air Force (1980 - 1984). My dad was retired Air Force. All my life I've been around Military, and families of military, and all of them have my sincere gratitude. I make my living as a professional musician because of the greatness of our nation, which is protected by our Armed Forces. I'm very proud of my Air Force heritage, and the role played by that particular branch of the service in securing our freedoms. My friends, my father and other loved ones made it a better place, and I'm VERY proud of them. To my Marine, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Reserves Brothers and Sisters: I understand and honor the special intensity that your service calls for. To my Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement, and other First Responders: I honor you on this day also. You all put your Country and Communities above yourselves, and "No man hath greater love..." Blessings to all of you, and your families on this, and every other day. I don't often sound off on my Patriotism, because it sounds like jumping on a ...

She thanked me for my service and turned to her Granpaw and asked him if he was going to thank me also and he said "no, Veterans don't thank each other for their service", "We thank each other for Our 6". Took me a moment, before I got it and I replied,Got your six, Sarge. He said no just an oiler and left. Sat in my rig and thought about it.
