Hello Everyone! I would like to introduce myself as one of the new admins for this page. I have been in the military for 10 years now almost 11. Boy how time has flown. I started my journey as an Air Force Fire Fighter and than after 4 years a friend talked me into becoming his flight medic on his Blackhawk so I switched over to the Army National Guard. When we returned from Iraq they remission our unit and I was given the option to find a new job or get out. I didn't want my career to end so I went to the Air National Guard as a medic and became the Functional Training Manager for the medics in my unit. I have worked as a fire fighter paramedic in the civilian world at a fire department in the Kansas City Metro for 8 years now. I started at a private company 12 years ago as an EMT. I decided to finish my education and received my Bachelors in Human Services and am currently working on my Masters in Psychology right now. I just started my own Crisis Intervention Practice in the Kansas City area wor ...

By Spc. Donald E. Williams 129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment   CAMP GUERNSEY, Wyo. – National Guard Soldiers and Airmen teamed up to perform a combat airdrop training mission at Camp Guernsey, Wyo., June 13, 2014. This event was coordinated between the Texas Army National Guard 1st Battalion (Airborne), 143rd Infantry Regiment and Wyoming Air National Guard 153rd Air Wing as part of the 2014 Golden Coyote training exercise. “We have so many paratroopers that it’s not feasible for us to jump out of anything but Air Force aircraft,” said Maj. Wade Aubin a drop zone safety officer for the 143rd. “Golden Coyote was the first time we [partnered with] the 153rd Air Wing out of Cheyenne and they have been great to work with.” The airdrop was a historic event as it was the first airborne mission conducted during the Golden Coyote training exercise. “We’re the first Army National Guard infantry battalion to perform an airfield seizure on Camp Guernsey,” said Aubin. Remembering D-Day and my Uncle Frank who served in WWII. Though he passed just 1 month ago at 94, I would like to share again his distinguished service record that included many flights during the Normandy Invasion. Thank you Uncle Frank for your service. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Mountain Lakes, NJ before moving to Boonton, where he has resided for most of his life. It was in 1940 when living in Mountain Lakes, NJ 18 year old Frank enlisted in the 102nd Cavalry Regiment, NJ Army National Guard. The Regiment was called into Federal Service in January 1941. Private Wiswall was a horse cavalryman in B Troop where he made many lasting friends. When the horses were to be retired and the squadrons fully mechanized, Wiswall volunteered for the US Army Air Corps. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and became a bombardier in the 8th Air Force, flying 25 combat missions from England in the famous Boeing Flying Fortress - B-17E, F & G models. Veterans Day Essay 2013 Part 2 Part 2 is a salute to My Dad; Today on Veteran day I had breakfast with my Dad, this is something that we do since 11/11/11 to celebrate the morning. Richard Finch served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1975. He is 80 years old now and a survivor of cancer, a veteran of Korea, Vietnam also served in Japan and Greenland, awarded the Bronze Star, and the Joint Chief Of Staff Badge and a great Dad, grandfather and great grandfather. We normally have breakfast with my Brother Robert, but he was unable to be here today. Right now Robert is somewhere on vacation between San Antonio and Tennessee. He also served in the Army National Guard, and a retired Deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. We had a good breakfast and talked about our experiences while in the Military, he has a clear memory of the hardships of his first duty station in Korea. He started his journey from Corpus Christi,Texas aboard ship and arrived weeks later off the coast Chinhae, Korea or also know a ...

Active vs. Guard: An Avoidable Pentagon War By Sydney J. Freedberg Jr. on June 28, 2013 WASHINGTON: Last year, the US Air Force fell face-first onto a buzzsaw when it proposed dramatic cuts to the Air National Guard, whose supporters raised a storm of protest in the Congress. Now there are signs that the next big budget battle will be between the regular active-duty Army and the Army National Guard. Or, under the pressure of sequester – a $500 billion cut to defense spending over the next ten years – could there even be a broader conflict that pits all four armed services’s full-time forces against their respective reserve components? “Yes to both,” said Andrew Davis, a retired Major General in the Marine Corps Reserve and now director of the influential Reserve Officers Association, in a remarkably candid conversation in ROA’s offices across the street from the US Capitol. Indeed, said Davis, “The Army has already had… tension between the three elements of their pyramid[:] the active, Res ...
House panel votes in favor of common combat uniform across services: Two war veterans succeeded Wednesday in convincing the House Armed Services Committee that the services should agree on common camouflage patterns for uniforms rather than each having its own. Rep. Bill Enyart, D-Ill., a retired Major General and Vietnam veteran who has served in the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Army National Guard before retiring in 2012 to run for Congress, and Rep. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., an Iraq war veteran who still serves in the Illinois National Guard, combined efforts on an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act requiring — with a few exceptions — the services to have a joint combat uniform. The measure passed by a 32-30 vote. READ MORE
Today is day to remember those military personnel we have lost in the past and present, who fought so bravely for what they believed in and to those in the present who are still serving or have served (retired). Our family sends out a great big THANK YOU. Even those two words seem so inadequate today. I especially would like to say that even though my dad and Michael's biological dad have passed, they too fought for our freedoms. My dad was in the Marine Corps and Michael's was in the Air Force. Also thank you to my husband Michael (Army, Army National Guard), my brother Michael (Army), my brothers father in law Joe Musick (Army), my uncle Sonny Haskins (Navy), our friends Clifton Cox (Navy),Daniel Hampton (Army), Jason Arnold (Army), Justin B (Army), James Sheppard (Army), Ron DeLoach (Army), and Manny Leander (Army). Let's also not forgot all the military canines who serve or have given their lives to protect others. Sending special thanks to all the spouses and children of all military members who ...

National Guard (in Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of November 6, 2012 The Army National Guard, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard announced this week a decrease in activated Guard members and reservists while the Army Reserve and Navy Reserve announced an increase of activated reservists. The net collective result is 619 fewer reservists and National Guard members activated in comparison to last week. At any given time, services may activate some units and individuals while deactivating others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease. The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 44,372; Navy Reserve, 4,538; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 9,363; Marine Corps Reserve, 2,713; and the Coast Guard Reserve, 691. Charles Smith Ofs Weaponized Laser Equipped Drone Testing On July 26, the U.S. Air National Guard will get the green light to begin firing lasers from unmanned attack drones in a vast swath of skies over North Dakota, despite the concerns of local commercial pilots. At the Devils Lake home of the North Dakota Army National Guard, pilots train on MQ-1 Predator drones — the most prevalent unmanned attack vehicle in the military arsenal. In late June the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) published an updated set of rules and regulations covering Devils Lake, creating several large restricted airspaces over the Camp Gilbert C. Grafton military base. The reason: the Air Force plans to begin tests of potentially dangerous lasers shot remotely from the drone. “Sorties will be limited to the minimum necessary for training, be confined to restricted airspace, and be executed against ground targets for laser designation, completely within an existing Army small arms weapons training range,” Billie Jo Lori ...
