UPDATE: After an hour and a half on the phone with an amazing Air Canada representative, we have successfully changed mine and Mycah's ticket from April 2nd to tomorrow. I then booked 2 tickets for Rob and Sammy to come tomorrow as well. SO, we will be heading to Saskatoon tomorrow morning at 10:30 am. Alright, so the much anticipated update to my post last week. Most have guessed that it has to do with snow. So here is the skinny. mid-week last week through Saturday the storm in question was being shown on all the weather models as a monster, on the order of the GHD blizzard of 2011. The last couple of days have seen some dramatic changes for areas East of the Mississippi river. Those changes have appeared to be caused by the following: 1. Monster blocking in Southern Canada extending into the South-Eastern US 2. The lack of phasing (combining forces) of the sub-tropical and polar jet streams 3. Early "bombing out" of the surface low pressure system and its subsequent occlusion and weakening afterwards. So what does that mean? Basically the blocking is preventing the storm from progressing East - NorthEast in a steady fashion, causing it to stay in the same general vicinity too long (Colorado and Oklahoma area). Got two adjacent 3rd floor rooms but my keys didn't work; long hike back to the front desk to have them reinitialized. Finally sat down on our balcony overlooking the ocean around 12:45. Two triple rum & cokes later to bed at 2 AM. A day to forget!

They showed us Kris’ check in photos, he was taking Air Canada so we decided to have lunch first. You all know that I "dislike" Fox News and their blatant manipulation of the facts. I've seen a lot of people claiming that Fox News sued for the right to lie and distort the news. I never posted anything about the claim since I couldn't find any reputable sources to substantiate it. I finally found the actual appeal. Here's the deal. The court found that the FCC’s news distortion policy is not a “law, rule, or regulation� under section 448.102. The court did rule that while the FCC has a rule against distortion, it is not enforcable as a law would be. You can, however, file a whistle blower complaint if you get fired for threatening to expose them for trying to distort the news. "Fox News" did not go to court for permission to lie and distort the news. This was a small affiliate of theirs who was taken to court by a couple of former employees that they had fired. A very strong low pressure system tracked over eastern NS yesterday afternoon then passing just east of PEI yesterday evening and now located near Port Aux Basque Newfoundland. This system dropped about 5 cms snow before changing over to rain and freezing rain before dawn. 27.2 mm rain was recorded by late Sunday afternoon. Western PEI stayed in the cold air longer thus more snow and freezing rain occurred there. The center of the storm crossed eastern PEI during the early evening hours. Calm winds and the moon even came out as the center crossed. Once the system tracked to the northeast of the island, colder air flooded back with strong NW winds developing. Snow redeveloped and by 8:00am this morning I has recorded another 9 cms snow combined with blowing and drifting snow. As I see it we have 4 areas of concern here---Legals, Illegals, border jumpers and Drugs. Okay...so lets break this down. Boarded my Air Canada flight Saint John to Toronto at 5pm. Got off the airplane at 2am. Kept on aircraft for 9 hours. Divert to Hamilton, sat for 3 hours, no AC presence in Hamilton means sit on airplane. Eventually flew over to Toronto, sat off gate for over an hour. If I understand the Captain correctly it was the weather and Nav Canadas fault, not theirs in the least. I am sure he would have blamed Westjet as well if he thought it would have worked. FTLOC.

Wow, i continue to be impressed by Southwest Airlines. They put Air Canada and West Jet to shame. I leave in 2 weeks for San Jose and just discovered they have the flights I booked on sale. The flight on the way there went from $120 to $95 and on the way back from $170 to $95. A few clicks of the mouse and the difference was credited to my account. No change fees, no hassle. I am now flying round trip direct Seattle to San Jose for $190 including Taxes and 2 free bags! If i were to book with Air Canada out of Vancouver it would be $586.78 with layovers in Denver both ways and with West Jet it would be $751.38 with layovers in LA both ways.

TORONTO — Air Canada unveiled its new low-cost leisure airline, Rouge, Tuesday with high hopes it will help restore its balance sheet to the black.When it launches in July, Rouge will fly primarily from Toronto to Athens, Venice and Edinburgh, as well as to Cuba, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. It will also offer a twice-weekly service between Montreal and Athens. While the carrier will launch with two Boeing 767s and two Airbus 319s, Rouge plans to expand to more than 50 aircraft in the next three to five years. Air Canada will upgrade its morning departure from Gander to Halifax to meet growing passenger demand. The morning flight is currently served by a 50-seat CRJ200 but this aircraft will be replaced by a 75-seat CRJ-705 effective Feb. 1 and running through the end of the winter schedule. The CRJ-705 is configured with10 executive and 65 economy class seats. Most importantly: all seats feature Air Canada’s in-seat on demand audio/visual entertainment. Here's another dog at the airport story to rival the limo drivers who wouldn't take Kishka and me. Tonight the two of us were delayed at Customs for 1/2 hour by an agent who claimed Kishka needs to be able to STAND up in his travel bag ... the same bag that is mandated by Air Canada for use so I can put him under the seat in front of me. Air Canada also says Kishka has to be zipped up in the bag and laying in it quietly. But the Customs agent said I could be fined for not allowing him the space to stand up in the bag. Yikes! The world is going absolutely mad!!!
