Maitama Sule writes Jonathan, warns of disastrous consequences A former Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Alhaji Maitama Sule, on Monday called on Nigerians to put the nation’s interest above their personal interest. The ex-diplomat added that he had written a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan and the governors, warning of what he called disastrous consequences if the prevailing trend in the country was not arrested. Sule made the call when the Arewa Youth Development Foundation paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Kano. The elder statesman said, “That was what our founding fathers like Zik, Obafemi Awolowo, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sardauna, Aminu Kano and Tarka did. “These leaders belonged to different political parties, tribes and religion, but they lived and worked together because the unity of the country was their main interest. “About two weeks ago, I wrote to the Chairman of Northern Governors Forum and his colleagues. I also wrote to Mr President abo ...
Someone who unplugs your phone at 3% to plug his own at 97% is capable of killing you - Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (650AD)
Nigeria at Critical stage in 2014 Nigeria has now reached a critical stage in her history. We must seize the opportunity which has been offered to us to show that we are able to manage our own affairs properly. Every Nigerian, whatever his status, and whatever his religion, has his or her share to contribute to this crucial task. I appeal to all my countrymen and women to cooperate with me and my colleagues to create a better understanding among our peoples, to establish mutual respect, and trust, among all our tribal groups, and to unite in working together for the common cause, the cause for which no sacrifice will be too great. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa 1957 Speech First Nigeria Prime Minister.
As far as leadership is concern, our leaders of today are not leaders rather larders to climbed above all living human. We have to put our country first than any other things. In my country my leaders did not put the country (Nigeria) first rather they put regional, tribal or political sentiment first, this will not promote the country but demote the country in the face of the world. Our leaders are wicked to the extends that one cannot expressed this views (political, regional, tribal or religious). Denial of the people right lead to real corruption in a country which we are in now. We will be very happy if our leaders today would have follow the foot steps of the previous leaders (Dr. Azekuye, Sir Abubakar tafawa Balewa) and likes, those people worked for the people and the country despite all challenges then. May Allaah help our leaders to have concern of their followers.
Opinion: Our attitude towards Nigeria by Sabella Abidde Why bother to faithfully serve this country when at the sunset of your life, she is likely to abandon you? Why? We are also a nation without heroes. New heroes, that is. Aminu Kano, Bala Usman, and Ayodele Awojobi are all gone. M.C.K. Ajuluchukwu, Obafemi Awolowo, and Tai Solarin all left us a while back In democratic and non-democratic settings, citizens relate to their countries in different ways. In democracies, for instance, people tend to invest more goodwill and other tangible and intangible resources in the affairs of their country. In general, they love their country more than any other country in the world. And it shows! They join formal and informal organisations whose main duty is to safeguard the nation’s integrity. They also take it upon themselves to positively project their nation’s image; and help extend its sovereignty and lifespan. Simply put, they have a stake in the survival and the continued existence of their country – e . ...

The spate of insecurity is becoming more worrisome by the day, this is not the time for pointing accusing fingers,or formulating stupid conspiracy theories like "Its because the president is a minority" Mind you, minorities have been ruling this country since independence...Abubakar Tafawa Balewa is a minority,Gowon is a minority,Abacha too is a minority Kanuri...IBB and Abdulsalam are both minority Nupes... If you are the president of the largest black nation in the world and the biggest economy in Africa and still think you're a minority, then surely theirs some thing wrong with you... If you also come up with religious theories like "It's because the president is a Christian,ok Gowon is a Christian and he ruled for 9 years, and that's the longest anyone has ever been president in Nigeria.. And if you say it's because Gowon was a military man, what about Mathew Aremu Obasanjo? He also ruled for 8 good years as a civilian president. When some miscreants tried rubbish in Zaki Biam and Odi,OBJ treated their fu .. ...
By Abba Mahmood, Source: Leadership The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) was launched on May 25, 1963, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It started its operations on September 13, 1963, when its Charter was adopted. It was founded by 32 countries and, over the years, 22more states have gradually joined, South Sudan being the 54th member two years ago. I was privileged to have met one of those who drafted the OAU Charter, now a professor of law in the United States. He told me that Addis Abba was chosen as the headquarters of the OAU due to the fact that Ethiopia is the only African country that has never been colonised in its entire history. According to the Charter, the OAU seeks to promote "an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena". This was the ideal of the founding fathers which, 50 years on, has not been realised. Africa is not integrated but fragmented; it is not prosperous but poor; it is not peaceful but conflict-ridd ...

A prominent Northern Nigerian, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who was destined to become the first federal Prime Minister, remarked in 1948: 'Since 1914 the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country, but the Nigerian people themselves are historically different in their backgrounds, in their religious beliefs and customs and do not show themselves any signs of willingness to unite... Nigerian unity is only a British invention.'

I want us to know that NANS is not a business organization, but an Association of bringing change and promoting students interest. History have never teaches or told us that, their should be two kings in one kingdom, no matter what the hardship, we must have only one king, if their is Confusion that means their must be d real king that deserve to be sworn in while the other one is just trying to cause more problem to his people. For me, the situation we are in presently on NANS issues is just like a dog given birth to a cat, which shall forever be impossible. Having two Senate President in one administration is: 1. Lacks of morality 2. Lack of Loyalty 3. Lack of control 4. Selfish Interest 5. Lack of discipline 6. Lack of knowing human right 7. Lack of Corporation John Shima & Maxwel soye ...
We need more of the sort of leadership our leaders of old provided. They were not saints but they put the people's interests before their individual and family's interests. We had the examples of the man in this story, Nigeria first Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Sage, Obafemi Awolowo and the great Nnamdi Azikiwe and others. We can collectively work to restore the old order.

AFRICA DEFINE YOURSELF: I’M SICK BECAUSE THE SPIRIT OF GADDAFI ET AL LIVES IN ME. By Senzo Scholar I'm sick, dying of the very strange diseases which can only be cured by no men alive. My sickness is caused by the daily pain of seeing native Africans falling in love and sleeping with their enemy. My sickness is actuated and sustained by witnessing perpetual twisted romance between our African brothers and sisters who have embraced white supremacy and black subjugation as oxygen and water. I'm sick because of the spirit of Muammar al-Gaddafi, Marcus Garvey, Malcom X, Kwame Krumah, Martin Luther King, John Langalibalie Dube, Ahmed Sékou Touré , Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi , Robert Sobuke, Emperor Haile Selassie; Gamal Abdel Nasser; Nelson Mandela, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa; Patrice Lumumba; Ahmed Ben Bella; Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere; Kenneth David Kaunda; Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Ahmed Sekou Toure; and William VS Tubman. When I discuss politics with fellow Nigerians, the discussion always starts post-independence, as if things post-independence happened with no connection to the past and like Nigeria has been controlled without western influence after 1960. When I try to explain that the issues Nigeria faces stem from the formation of Nigeria by British colonials and that Nigerians have not seen good governing for a lengthy period of time post-independence because of it, it doesn’t register. This is in part because many Nigerians are ahistorical. We don’t look back to the past to see how we got here, and what we can improve and learn from. Unless you have a passion for Nigerian history, many Nigerians know next to nothing about Nigerian history. They will tell you the latest Wizkid jam, but talk about the assassination of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello and it’s all crickets. Learning our history isn’t cultivated by Nigerian leaders or in the education system. Nigerian children will learn about Shakespeare ...

The Sons of Sardauna 29 Apr 2014 -By Henry Omoregie As the National Conference gathers steam, it will be an end game for Nigeria if we allow this opportunity to build trust and engender real unity (as opposed to the surreal marriage we have) slip us by. In trying to build consensus, I am of the view that delegates, especially those from the North, must consider the political philosophy of the late Sardauna of Sokoto with a view to drawing needed lessons on how he was able to build unity amongst the disparate people of Arewa. An expert at building consensus, Ahmadu Bello did not practice isolationist politics. He was very inclusive in his administration and outlook and realised that a leader must be conscious of posterity not prosperity. Ahmadu Bello was so altruistic that even when power was within his grasp, he restrained himself just like Gandhi did and empowered a Northern minority, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, from the Northeast, assisting him to become the first Prime Minister of Nigeria as Gandhi did for ...

Vanguard Sovereignty belongs to the people as National Confab begins on March 22, 2014 / in Special Report 12:01 am By Emmanuel Edukugho The much-awaited National Conference started on Monday with most of the 492 delegates drawn from all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory of Abuja attending the inaugural session. This is not the first national dialogue since return to civilian rule in 1999 after a long spell of military administration which began in January 15, 1966 when the democratic government under a parliamentary system headed by Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was toppled and Major General Thomas Aguiyi Ironsi became first military Head of State. Then came the civil war which was successfully fought by General Yakubu Gowon with no foe no vanguished. Shagari: Northern Leaders Should Reciprocate S’South’s Gesture by Re-electing Jonathan • President greets Shehu Shagari at 89, condoles with Kano Emir on Tafidan’s death The Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, Monday stressed the need for northern leaders to reciprocate the support given to the North by the South-south over the years, by ensuring the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. He also said the average northerners were preoccupied with meeting their basic needs and not really against Jonathan’s aspiration, despite the propaganda and misinformation being peddled in the region that Jonathan is anti-north. Speaking in an interview with THISDAY in Sokoto, Shagari maintained that Northern leaders should reciprocate the gesture of the South-south over the years, saying the relationship between the North and Niger Delta was not brought about by the present politicians but by the late Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Shehu Shagari and Melford Okil .. ...

Dreams of our founding fathers: On Saturday, October 1, 1960, Nigeria became an independent nation. What follows is Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa's speech delivered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos at the Independence Ceremony. (Please read and share your thoughts with me about the dreams of our founding fathers). "Today is Independence Day. The first of October 1960 is a date to which for two years every Nigerian has been eagerly looking forward. At last, our great day has arrived, and Nigeria is now indeed an independent sovereign nation. Words cannot adequately express my joy and pride at being the Nigerian citizen privileged to accept from Her Royal Highness these Constitutional Instruments which are the symbols of Nigeria’s Independence. It is a unique privilege which I shall remember for ever, and it gives me strength and courage as I dedicate my life to the service of our country. On the proposed National Confab. Whether confab or not, Nigeria has come to exist. But, if I may ask this question, what is our existence platform? How did the Federating units come to exist with each other? Is it under duress? But forgive me if I am commenting on the no go areas. Our famous nationalists had this doubt about our existence, when Sir Ahmadu Bello wrote that the North had as far back as 1914, would have preferred to take her own way. Nigeria existence is a thing of question, which this present National Confab cannot give a solution. Who will bail the Cat? Even some of our famous Nationalists questioned the existence of Nigeria. The same kind of opinion was contained in Chief Awolowo's statement when he said "Nigeria is not a nation; it is a geographical expression. There are no Nigerians in the sense as English or'Welsh' or French; the word Nigeria is merely a distinctive appellation to distinguish those who live within the boundaries of Nigeria from those who do not. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY FOR THE NORTH The clamour for the next president of this country to come from this or that geo-political region, or from this or that religion is not part of my belief or submission. All I am after is to have a president from whichever tribe, religion or segment of the country who can effectively handle the affairs of the country well. Demarcating political offices along sectional, religious and tribal grounds have rub this country from allowing able hands run the affairs of the country. I would like to caution people advocating rotational presidency and other political offices on sectional parameter should get ready to embrace other rotational indices like religion and tribe. Some Northern Nigerian groups, specifically, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) have gone far in their advocacy for the next president to emerge from the north forgetting that, in the north we have two major religions (Islam and Christianity). Worst of all, is the likes of sheik Abubakar Gumi who chooses to adver ...

When and why did Nigeria turn into *** ?? Nigeria is a country blessed with peaciful, courageous, talented, educated, respectable, regious, trustful and dedicated to their dear country. But when the people scrifice and dedicated their entire life to serve the country but when they expect the coutry honour in-return by appretiating and comenting their effort and hardwork, but they end up being chase, hurnted and in some instances been called traitors or these plotting treason. Actually Nigerian situation is really terrible as the country turn into darkness. The leaders have became rulers, these in power turn to dictators, traditional rulers became political beggers seeking asylum, religious mornach become manupilated to be used as political tools, the youth became political thugs use to create chaos and hoax in their verious respective society. "Our political advance will be of no value if it is not supported by economic progress. It is therefore most important that the development plans throughout the country should be carried out with vigor in order that we may have a proper financial standing when, in three years’ time, we ask the world to regard us as an independent self-governing nation .On no account should we allow the selfish ambitions of individuals to jeopardize the peace of the thirty-three million law-abiding people of Nigeria. It is the duty of all of us to work for unity and encourage members of all our communities to live together in peace and harmony. The way to do this is to create understanding, mutual respect and trust. It is important that we should first show respect to each other before asking the world to respect us" . - An excerpt of speech delivered by Sir. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa on October 1st, 1960.

Let’s Find A Better Way To Waste Our Time… Jonathan’s National Conference has dominated discussions lately and I really wonder why. I do not know what can be achieved by an unconstitutional National Conference and I wonder why some people want to participate in what is clearly a waste of time. I think they should find a better way to waste their time. For starters, a conference whose participants are chosen by Jonathan and his friends cannot be called a National Conference and cannot represent Nigerians. For a long time, I have been listening to agitators for a National Conference. Some of these agitators are really angry. In fact, it is hard to find an agitator for a National Conference who is not very angry. When you ask what they want, they angrily say Nigeria should be restructured because there is too much corruption and Nigeria is not working.. At the end of the day, if you are patient enough with them, you will discover that all they want can roughly be summarised under one heading: Federali ...

REVELATIONS: HAUSAS HAVE NEVER RULED NIGERIA By NewsRescue Jan 13, 2014 In our effort to reveal the amazing truths hidden in popular narratives, NewsRescue once again breaks a rather interesting piece of history about Nigeria. The Hausa ethnic group has never ruled the nation. A group 'marginalized' as are most of 516 ethnic groups in Nigeria, popularly attributed Hausa rule has actually been Fulani only. Hausa's are about 20.6% of Nigeria's population, the second largest group after Yoruba's (21%). The Fulani are about 9%. Usually, Hausa and Fulani are combined to create a largest block of 29%. The Igbo are about 18%, followed by the Ijaw, 10% and Kanuri, 4%. NewsRescue is not in the least piqued by ethnic rotation, and ONLY supports the selection of morally upright and intelligent candidates from whatever region of Nigeria; however this piece of news is fascinating headlines. Please review list below: 1. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (Middle Belt Bauchi) 1960-1966. (Sefawa) -Nnamdi Azikiwe 1960-1966 (Igbo) 2. ...

Muslems Today shall never forgive the illegal killings of their brothers and sisters throughout the world. I am using this valueable opportunity to notify my people that Nigerian Massacre against Islamic communities by the Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is fully supported by some prominent Northern rulers as IBB, Abdulsalamu Abubakar, Aliyu Gusau, Sule Lamido, Isa Yuguda, Attahiru Bafarawa, Dahiru Bauchi, Halliru Maraya, Ahmad M. Makarfi, Namadi Sambo and more other unmentioned Northerners from North. That's why the Northern problems will be difficult to be solved because we lack the unity to do so. Decades back, those greedy Igbos killed our Northern elites not because the committed crime but because they were muslems because on the 15th January, 1976 the cursed Col. Nzeogu Kd killed both the first and only Nigerian Prime Minister Sir. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa together with the Northern primier Sir Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna of Sokoto and many other involv ...

The issue is not that islam or Nigerian constitution prohibits personel acquisition of vehicles and houses. It is only being observed in fairness to ourselve that the total sum of our income as public officers at any given level seem not to legally justify the procurement and maintenance of these flamboyant assets. If you claim that such assets were acquired through private business, then you must have stolen substantial time from your official working hour or days.that again, you may have to explain or be liable before Allah(swt). But in Taraba state some public officers called themself as leaders have houses(like a mouse)all over the place. It is in the light of the above that one brings to mind the genuine sacrifices and personel discipline of past leaders like the late Sir Ahmadu Bello(sardauna of sokoto)and late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa-May Allah (swt) have mercy on both of them amin.

Brief History of Red Cross/ Red Crescent Soceity Origin of Red Cross can be traced back to the vital event that occurred on the 24th June 1859 at solferino northern Italy, three countries engaged in battle. The countries are: Austria, Italy, France-Sardinian armies. Shortly after the war, a young Swiss businessman (Jean Henry Dunant, born on Thursday May 8th, 1828 and died on 30th October, 1910) who was going to meet Napoleon III, on his usual business trip to Northern Italy came in contact with this scene. His father is a Swiss banker Jean Jacques Dunant. The fight lasted for 16 hours claiming over 40,000 lives and 40,000 injured. Having compassion on the wounded soldiers, he had to suspend his trip and with the assistance of the villagers around he attended to the wounded soldiers using churches, schools, mosques even private buildings as temporary hospitals for the treatment of the wounded, while the dead were buried. Late Sir Jean Henry Dunant later wrote a book titled: A MEMORY OF SOLFERINO in Novemb ...

Biography of Ahmadu Bello Al-Haji Sir Ahmadu Bello (June 12, 1910 - January 15, 1966) was a Nigerian politician, and was the first premier of the Northern Nigeria region from 1954-1966. He was one of the prominent leaders in Northern Nigeria, alongside Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, both of whom where prominent in negotiations about the region's place in an independent Nigeria. The Northern People's Congress, which he led, was able to win the pre-independence 1959 parliamentary elections. He worked hard to unify the peoples of Northern Nigeria. He is considered to be a founding father of the modern Nigerian nation state, which was formed October 1, 1960. Despite his popularity and political support, Bello chose to remain in the North instead of accepting the post of national Prime Minister, which would have required living in the South. He was a strong advocate of a federal system, which he believed was best suited to Nigeria's needs. He combined traditional leadership qualities with knowledge of Western governa ...
WHO’S TO COMPLAIN, MIDDLE BELT OR CORE NORTH? According to the Wikipedia the Middle Belt consist of Benue, Nassarawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, Southern Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Kwara, FCT, southern Gombe, And the two minority Local government of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro in Southern Bauchi State. Nigerian prominent and most ‘Remarkable’ Leaders, The IBB, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar all are from that region The Middle Belt likes of Yakubu Gowon and IBB reins of power are culpable for the success and clear failure of Nigeria more than any group. The presidents from Core North include; Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari, Late Musa Yar’Adua and Major General Muhammadu Buhari who is regarded by most Nigerians as best and at least corrupt leader, He Buhari rejected the IMF – SAP proposals which the middle Belt man(IBB) later accepted that crippled Nigeria, So why is Middle Belt blaming the Core North?. Nigerian Martyr: The Story Of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (Part1) Nigeria's first Prime Minister Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was written by a foreigner. Little is known about Balewa. In the first of a new series of articles on "Nigeria's forgotten heroes" Birth and Origins According to family oral history, Balewa's paternal grandfather Isa was murdered in front of his family by his rival's agents. Isa's widow then took her infant son to Bauchi, where the Madaki of Bauchi took her in. Abubakar was born in December 1912 in the village of Tafawa Balewa, in modern day Bauchi State. He was his father's only child. The name of his birthplace was appended to Abubakar's name (Abubakar Tafawa Balewa). Tafawa Balewa village takes its name from two corrupted Fulani words: "Tafari" (rock) and Baleri (black). This may have contributed to the "Black Rock" nickname he acquired in later life. Although it is widely (incorrectly) presumed that he was Hausa, Balewa's father Yakubu Dan Zala was in fact of Bageri ethnicity . ...

Nigerian unity is only a British. intention for the country" Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa 1948
Ameen Lukman Mai Borno Omololu Ogunmade refreshes memory with some of the key dates in history since October 1, 1960 when Nigeria became an independent country October 1, 1960 After about 100 years of British imperialism, the country obtained independence from the colonialists. Consequently, the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC) and the National Convention of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC) formed a coalition government that took over from Great Britain. Under this arrangement, the late Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa of the NPC became the first Prime Minister of the newly independent Nigeria, while the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe of the NCNC became the nation’s governor-general. Consequently, Nigeria adopted the parliamentary system of government as practised by its colonial masters. May 21, 1962 On this day, the Governor of Western Region, the late Sir Adesoji Aderemi, the Ooni of Ife, removed Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, the then Premier of Western Region following unhealthy rivalry between supporters of Akintola ...

Oh great now I can't watch Prime Minister and I without thinking about Sir Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa . Congratulations to both of them!
History Secession Main article: Nigerian Civil War 1960, Nigeria became independent of the United Kingdom.[4] As with many other new African states, the borders of the country did not reflect earlier ethnic boundaries. Thus the northern desert region of the country contained semi-autonomous feudal Muslim states, while the southern population was predominantly Christian and Animist. Furthermore, Nigeria's oil, its primary source of income, was located in the south of the country.[4] Following independence, Nigeria was divided primarily along ethnic lines with Hausa and Fulani in the north, Yoruba in the south-west, Ijaws in the south-south and Igbo in the south-east.[4] In January 1966, a group of primarily eastern Igbo led a military coup during which 30 political leaders including Nigeria's Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and the Northern premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello were killed.[5][6][7] In July 1966 northern officers and army units staged a counter-coup. Muslim officers named a Christian from a ...

Upon his return, he teamed up with other educated Nigerians from the Western Region to form the Action Group (AG) under the leadership of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. As the deputy leader of the AG party, he did not serve in the regional government headed by its premier Chief Awolowo, but served as the parliamentary leader of his party in the House of Representatives of Nigeria. THE INSANITY OF LABARAN MAKU. I want to tells MAKU that the present administration must be blame by we the northerners, particularly the GUDLUCK JONATHAN and his likes i.e Labaran Maku, Namandi sambo, Aliyu Babangida, Sule Lamido etc. The purpose of history is to know the first in order to adjust the present and plan for a future. History has already told us all about our great northern leaders in the Nigeria's first Republic. It is vividly cleared that when ever we are talking about northern leaders, we are simply referring to the great people like AHMADU BELLO SARDAUNA OF SOKOTO, ABUBAKAR TAFAWA BALEWA, MALAM Aminu Kano and their like or their successors. The leadership of the aforementioned leaders in the past Nigeria were fairly justice, honest and accepted by all inrespect of your Political inclination, Social class,Religious believe,Regional origin etc. During the time of those great leaders, the Northern Nigeria become united regardless of tribal differences, language variation, although perfection ...

Federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday in Abuja signed a resolution which is intended to end the strike that has shut public universities for five months. Supervising Minister of Education Nyesom Wike said the resolution was a result of the agreements reached at the final negotiation between the government and ASUU. The university teachers began the strike in July over non- implementation of a 2009 agreement reached with the government to adequately fund the universities as well as a rise in salaries and allowances of the teachers. All subsequent formal and informal talks between both sides had failed to resolve the dispute culminating in a threat by the government last week to sack over 33,000 teachers if they fail to resume work last Monday. ASUU called that bluff off but the government pulled back from carrying out its threat saying some respected Nigerian had called for restraint. A flurry of activities last week brought the two sides together again resulting ...
We cry restore, o LORD, the glory & dignity of Nigeria! It is sad how corruption can devalue & demean the worth & essence of a nation. Nigeria, a nation once known for bravery, sincerity & prospect; but now a shadow of its true essence. Our dear nation is being totally side-tracked in this significant time of applauding & appreciating the major actors, before the global world, that were instrumental to Nelson Mandela's release after 27years in solitary confinement, & subsequently, the freedom of the South African people. I could recall clearly the abuses of human rights & forceful dispersion of protesters among black South African citizens on television as well as the struggles championed by black activists & tracks of revolutionary songs of those days- these images lingered in my thoughts while growing up. How time pass & truths seem to fade away! I remember distinctly the defiance & insolence consistently demonstrated by the western powers during the regime of Margret Thatcher of Great Britain, Jimmy C ...
Please read if you are a youth and love this nation. Barr Tony Odey TO THE YOUTHS Youths are accurately recognized as the cream of the society. These segment of the populace is the driving force behind every dynamic society and it is unarguably the most suitable to take on responsibilities as it has the capacity to effect rapid delivery considering the large energy and verve with which the youths work. In recent times however, the plight of the young people of this nation is in such a sorry state and it demands serious and immediate attention. It could be remembered that in the immediate post independence era when things were going well in our country, the youths were at the helm of affairs, directing and piloting matters of state in a progressive fashion. But surprisingly, subsequent generations of youths gradually f ailed to build on the legacy of these initial crop of young leaders. They could not resist the manipulation, domination and repression foisted on them by the men in power. They failed to be ...

Nigeria under the leadership of Sir, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa fought apartheid
Today, as the world continue to pour praises for Madiba of the world. I remember our own ATB, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi Awolowo. These great sons of Africa, would have raised the glory of this nation high. But for the ambitious revolutionaries whom the only good to do, is not to talk about them now. A critical study of their lifes and time revealed that they had good intentions. They mearnt well. Infact, they are in a hurry to deliver. And most of their acrimony was born out of this urgency to get their in time. Those who do not know should know, and those who know should tell it accurately to those who do not know.

LETTER TO MADIBA Dear Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela, The world mourns, and still mourning your final demise! Of truth, there seems to be no one on Earth who has been and still being celebrated as you are in the last century. The whole of last weekend was dedicated to you in the soccer world. There was no league that did not give you a standing ovation in every of their matches played, Bundesliga, Barclays, Serie A, name it. It shows how revered you are held world over! And just before your obsequies, I deem it fit to pen down these laconic lines perchance you could help me deliver same to the great beyond and please Baba Madiba, don't say 'No'! But before I tell you my message, the need to provide a premise through which these messages are fundamentally germane and are worth delivering cannot be over-emphasized! For quite a number of decades, Nigeria has not had a Mandela-spirit-filled public servant like your humble self. Incorruptible persons like the likes of Buhari have constantly been rebuffed, vehementl ...

I got this in the genaral news of saturday 7th December, 2013 written by a Ghanian journalist, Cameron Doudo: '' As in our first meeting, Mr. Mandela astonished me with the sharpness of his memory. After 27 years in jail, he remembered names like ' Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto ( Nigeria) ' and Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Prime Minister of the federation of Nigeria ' with ease. He ( Mandela) told us the Sardauna of Sokoto, despite being largely written off as a 'Conservative' Anglophile, he had given the ANC ' ten thausand Pounds sterling ' - a considerable sum in 1962. '' Here I mourn our heros who got killed mischievously by first order tribalists.
We must know our enemies and those who helped in the killing of more than 3.5 million of our people. Today we want to look at the number one person and the real leader who masterminded the greatest genocide of the modern history and his name is General Yakubu Jack Dan-Yumma Gowon. Now who is General Yakubu Jack Dan-Yumma Gowon? Yakubu Gowon was born 19 October 1934 in a small village in the present Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State. He was the fifth of eleven children. He grew up in Zaria and had his early life and education there and in he joined the Nigerian army in 1954, receiving a commission as a Second Lieutenant on 19 October 1955. He also attended both the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, UK (1955–56), Staff College, Camberley, UK (1962) as well as the Joint Staff College, Latimer, 1965. He saw action in the Congo (Zaire) as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, both in 1960–61 and in 1963. He advanced to battalion commander rank by 1966, at which time he was still a Lieut ...

Vincent Bodam AND WE VISITED THE EMIR OF ZARIA, When the SOKAPU president, Dr Ephraim Goje called me and said he wanted me and 2 other Excos to come along to the Emir of Zazzau's palace, I was curious to know why. And he told me it was because of the petition and counter petitions on Professor Barnabas Quirix, the Vice Chancellor of KADSU. I became interested. When we met the Emir in his palace with the petitioners (ZEMDA), we were courteously taken into the meeting area and the Emir gave us a brief history of education in the North. He told us that the first college in Northern Nigeria was the Katsina College and the first set of graduates were people like Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Gwamna Awan, Ahmadu Bello, Kashim Ibrahim and others. He told us how the Sardauna as premier of the North paid more visits to Gwamna Awan of Kagoro than any other royal and how people from the sultanate were always wondering why this was so. He told us how they were closely knit together no matter their religious affiliation. He ...

One of the things thar endeared me to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa is his humanistic stance despite the fact he is a practicing muslim.
Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Foreign Policy:his foreign policy trust brought out Nigeria to the international arena, soon after Nigeria independence,he led a delegation to the U.N. General Assembly which Nigeria was admitted as the 99th member.in 1962 he convened a conference of African countries to discuss African Unity, this was a prelude to the formation of 0.A.U. He advocated againts Apartheid policies of SouthAfrica
*How Yakubu Gowon Caused The Nigeria- Biafra War By Lawrence Chinedu Nwobu Introduction: One of the greatest enduring myths in Nigeria is the lie that Yakubu Gowon fought the Nigeria- Biafra war to keep Nigeria united, whereas in reality not only did Yakubu Gowon whose Northern region had originally intended to secede (Araba) after the July 1966 counter- coup cause the unnecessary war through his failure of leadership, his aim for fighting the war was never in the least a genuine desire to keep Nigeria united but purely because of Northern economic interests. The economic interests of the hitherto secessionist North became the principal reason for the volte face from secession to “one Nigeria” after the British Government advised the Northern leadership of the economic disadvantages of secession. Thus unlike most civil wars where there is a genuine desire to keep the nation united for patriotic reasons, the Nigeria-Biafra war was an opportunistic war instigated by Yakubu Gowon and the North; not out o ...
The fact there this is a book in this world by Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and I am reading it is mildly disconcerting
SARDAUNA'S MODESTY AND GENEROSITY IN TELLING THE TRUTH: The Northern People's congress grew out of a purely cultural society of that name. This had been started in Zaria by Dr Dikko, who is now important figure in the Ministry of Health. After the 1951 elections-the electoral college ones-Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who had been a member of the original House of Assembly from the start and who always had a keen political sense,"asked me to join this cultural party",later to become our own political party with the same name. SIR AHMADU BELLO.KBE.1963. Premier of Northern Nigeria. -Note:some so-called progressive elements insinuate political dichotomy of royal and poor class in the composition of first republic,we accepted the fact, sardauna's political capital derives from the traditional political structure well established before the modern system. But his words here reflects modesty by giving credit to those considered at the bottom of the game,Dr dikko and tafawa balewa.Let us set the record straight.
What went wrong with Biafra —Ben Gbulie InterviewAugust 25, 2013 Col. Ben Gbulie is widely known for his role in the January 1966 coup in which he and other majors and captains upturned the political and military status quo in the country. Having been detained in Enugu alongside Victor Banjo and others who participated actively in the coup by the Federal Government, he was subsequently released by Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu at the outbreak of the Nigerian Civil War in 1967. He rose to the rank of a Colonel in the Biafran Army where he held important positions which included the de facto commander of the 7th battalion, Nsukka, Supply and Transport and later as the Military Administrator of Aba Province. In this interview with Edozie Udeze and Chris Orji in Enugu, he reiterates how he and Gen.Alabi-Isama and others joined the Nigerian Army in March 1960, why Obansanjo’s My Command is full of half-truths and how Nzeogwu was killed, among other salient war related issues. Gen Alabi Isama was emphatic in his bo ...

History, history, I love history! Dokubo asari vs preye aganaba. Read this: Mujahid Dokubo Asari Preye Aganaba..I would have prepared a lengthy response but on a second thought I realise your ill motives against us because of your bile against GEAJ ...You cannot destroy the Ijo nation like your father tried unsuccessfully before you.you have failed.Who was he to ask Chief Meford Okilo not to go for a second term?A mere warrant or government certified chief without any historical antecedent or roots.did he succeed? What positive contribution did he make on the path of progress and freedom of our Nation ? other than mischief and attempt to destroy what others laboured so assiduously to achieve. Little Preye Aganaba our authentic recorded history goes back over six hundred years. The first outsiders to encounter us in the 1500 were the Portuguese and the Dutch. It was Kalabari and Bonny they encountered. ..They did not encounter your forebears .It was we who told them we are Ijos...It took them over one hundred ...

Do we still have the Uztaz guys and their babes in the Universities? These student zealots used to disrupt any activity in the university that is not according to their religious doctrine or standard violently, forgetting that the university is not a religious institution. Even the school authorities are afraid or rather encourage them. Uztaz were like the cultist in other Universities. I remember when they disrupted activities of Mass Communication Student Association this one time in Old Site around 1998 in Bayero University Kano, because they said women were dancing advertising a show that was supposed to happen that weekend. The show never took place. I remembered when they attacked English students who were doing a show sometime in 2003 at University of Maiduguri. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi is a Uztaz haven as they have almost turned the University to Islamic University of Afghanistan as even a student was killed one time for what they termed blasphemy. Another haven for Uztaz activitie ...
Up to the time of Shagari, the visit of a leader was a great event that people welcome. They congregate by the roads to look at the person they admire and cheer. The story has changed. Now people abhor leaders and look at their visits as an unavoidable inconvenience. Oya, finish and go back to your city! May Allah give us leaders who we can love and pray for, who will care for the poor and weak, who will be beacons of unity, honesty and hope like Sardauna and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
GREAT SON OF AFRICA! Azikiwe was born on November 16, 1904, in Zungeru, Northern Nigeria. His parents were Igbo; his father Obed-Edom Chukwuemeka Azikiwe[3] (1879–1958), a clerk in the British Administration of Nigeria[4] and his mother was Rachel Ogbenyeanu Azikiwe.[3] Nnamdi means "My father is alive" in the Igbo language.[5] After studying at Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar,[6] and Methodist Boys' High School Lagos, Azikiwe went to the United States. While there he attended Howard University, Washington DC,[7][8] before enrolling and graduating from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, in 1930. He obtained a masters degree in Political Science from University of Pennsylvania in 1933 and another masters degree in Anthropology from Columbia University in 1934.[9][10] He worked as an instructor at Lincoln before returning to Nigeria. Newspaper career[edit] After teaching at Lincoln, Azikiwe, in November 1934, took the position of editor for the African Morning Post, a daily newspaper in Accra, Gha ...
ASUU rejects N600b offer Posted by: Bisi Oladele, Ibadan in Featured, News 13 days ago Varsity teachers remained adamant last night, saying their strike would go on, despite the government’s shifting of its position. The strike has been on for four months. More cash has been pledged for projects on the campuses. Besides, the earned allowances due to the teachers have been increased from the initial N30 billion offer, which the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) rejected. The teachers are insisting on the 2009 agreement, which they say President Goodluck Jonathan was part of. Besides, they say, they do not trust the government. According to a circular by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, to the staff of the school, quoted yesterday by the news website, Sahara Reporters, the government has pledged to spend N200 billion on the universities in the 2014 budget and the same amount annually for the next three to four years. This is in addition to ...

From self-government to independence Balewa administration Balewa entered the government in 1952 as Minister of Works, and later served as Minister of Transport. In 1957, he was elected Chief Minister, forming a coalition government between the NPC and the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), led by Nnamdi Azikiwe. He retained the post as Prime Minister when Nigeria gained independence in 1960, and was reelected in 1964. Prior to Nigeria's independence, a constitutional conference in 1954 had adopted a regional political framework for the country, with all regions given a considerable amount of political freedom. The three regions then were composed of diverse cultural groups. The premiers and some prominent leaders of the regions later took on a policy of guiding their regions against political encroachment from other regional leaders. Later on, this political environment influenced the Balewa administration. His term in office was turbulent, with regional factionalism constantly threate ...

NOVEMBER 16 History have a magical way of documenting things.which we will always call coincidental incidence. When the INEC chairman Prof Attahiru Jega picked up november 16,little did he know, that date was iconizied in Anambra state. On the same day NOVERMBER 16 he became the first Nigerian named to the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. With the proclamation of republic in 1963, he became the first President of Nigeria. Femi Abbas wrote: Dream land Nigerians of today have found themselves in a dream land. They are not only dreaming of what they ought to be as against what they are. They are also dreaming of the good old days in this same country that once gave them the confidence to build hope in their future as well as that of their children. That hope has practically become forlorn. Without necessarily sounding pessimistic, if there is any expectation for an ordinary Nigerian today, it is for death as despair is currently the song on most lips. Telling the history of Nigerian oil cannot end with the present generation. It surely extends to the future. Where are the founding fathers of Nigeria especially those who strove for the discovery of oil? Was the current situation their dream? Even as Prime Minister and Premier respectively, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto borrowed money from banks to purchase a car and build a bungalow. WHEN THE PRESIDENT IS NOT COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF All newspapers reported so without a denial from any one concerned. Though it seemed untrue and unbelievable, President Goodluck Jonathan had decided, no longer should he be addressed at public functions as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic. I thought it was a trivial correction that should just be brushed aside. The more I tried to do so, the more it bothered me. Why would the President of the Federal Republic, born and raised in the tradition of Presidents being so addressed and at times wearing the uniforms of the different arms of the forces of the land suddenly effect a formal rejection of being so honoured? For days especially given the vitriolic response in the social media, I hoped that an explanation of whatever might have influenced the decision would flow from the State House at Aso Rock and none came. In governance, symbolic gestures and policies go far to condition societal reaction and response to the whole process of ...
2015: WHY JONATHAN DESERVES NORTH'S SUPPORT- NDD Ahead of the 2015 general election, a group, the Niger Delta Democrat (NDD) has said President Goodluck Jonathan deserves to be supported by the entire Northern region, adding that both the region and the South-South have maintained a cordial relationship since the attainment of independence. The group, in a statement issued after its inaugural meeting, recalled that the late Prime Minister, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, due to the confidence he reposed in the South-South, appointed Festus Okotie-Eboh as Minister of Finance. NDD, in the statement signed by its national coordinator, Mr Udieme Paulker, said because of the deep relationship between Balewa and Okotie-Eboh, both of them were killed during the first military coup in the country in January, 1966. Insisting that both regions have had a continuous and untainted relationship, he also said the late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, who was from the Niger Delta, served under former Head of State, General Ibrahim B . ...

The Nigerian accidental progressives NIGERIA is a country that has the unenviable reputation of almost all its leaders having emerged by accidents. Some of the leadership accidents have been minor and caused little disruption, whilst others have been devastatingly ghastly. The first accident in 1959 was minor, just like a minor surgery: Sir Ahmadu Bello leads the NPC to win a plurality of the parliamentary seats. And, suddenly, he develops cold feet at leading the country, devolves the position of Prime Minister to his deputy and, accidentally, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa becomes the Prime Minister. Then comes the first ghastly accident which has affected the country ever since. On January 15, 1966, Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu leads a group of revolutionary soldiers to terminate the civilian rule in a bloody coup d’etat. Through accidental out-manoeuvrings, Aguiyi Ironsi, originally slated for assassination, becomes the country’s first military Head of State. Yet again, another ghastly leadership accident ...

"We do not have adequate representation at the Federal level. We do not have strong Ministries or strong and credible Ministers with a grassroots following, We cannot get jobs for our teeming youths or the kind of opportunities that are freely given to others. Our businessmen cannot get a fair share of government patronage and that which they already had and that they acquired before the advent of Goodluck is being whittled down and taken away from them. Worst still, the President has flippantly referred to our people as ''rascals'' on a number of occassions even though he came to power with the support and on the back of yoruba votes in 2011. Things have never been this bad for our people at the Federal level. Even under the military government of General Abacha who killed, jailed, assaulted and drove most of our leaders into exile we at least had a number two that was a yorubaman for most of the time. Yet under Goodluck Jonathan, such is his contempt for our people that we have absolutely nothing and mo ...
Speaking frm ma hrt: Now I av found the perfect spot for the calendar, very close to my bed, so that I would remember every morning that another “illegal” day has been added to my “supposed” five year course in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, thanks to the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (Asuu) and the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FG) *stressing the ’F’ words* It so disheartening and unfortunate that the battle between the high and mighty has, and will always continue to affect us, because there is ALMOST nothing we can do about it. Most of this so called “our Guys” that “we” voted for are only adding more to the problems they met on ground, as their seemingly redundant ears angers the public, especially the youths which holds the heart of the economy. The third month is almost over, and we are still being tossed here and there like a DSTV remote. Definitely, our dear leaders are not taking so many things into consideration. We can’t wait forever. Our Senators and Reps should know that they are not helping in wagging war against corruption in Nigeria. Consider China as the only nation really fighting corruption by enacting law which places public execution on anyone that steals, by any means, public fund. In Nigeria our Senators and Reps will not allow any law of that type to get one and half reading stages, because they know after office they may be worse hit. For instance, freedom of information law took almost eight years to be passed. Even at that it is only implemented on paper. Our fathers rendered selfless services. Take for example Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Awolowo and others. they did not amase wealth. Today our lawmakers are money bags. Have they forgotten that a dime made corruptively will lead one to *** everlasting punishment)?. Let them lay good example. The loophole in our laws should be closed. Imagine a thief stole billions of Naira and was asked to pay token while remainder is kept by him. No one could do something since if . ...
My fatherly advice to those in authority at the federal level and especially our amiable President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, is to learn from the mistakes of his very illustrious predecessor, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, by resisting any temptation to take the ‘west by all means.’” . From the Alaafin of Ọyọ: warning to other Nigerian nationalities that continually seek to subjugate the Yoruba nation Below is a statement issued by the Alaafin of Ọyọ, the current king of the northern kingdom of Israel (NB: Israel is not the proper pronunciation), which appeared in Osun Defender, in which he voices his observation of a sad repeat of history, another attempt by dominate the Yoruba. Though not mentioned, the Igboid (descended from Edo/Edom) and Ijaw groups have historically harboured ancient envy and hatred for the Yoruba, and repeatedly cooperated with the core northerners (Biblical Assyrians) who have repeatedly sought to dominate/enslave/rule the Yoruba who have been minding their own business. In the 1960s these jealous people instigated crises in Yorubaland but Nigeria suffered a retribution in the form of military coups and Igbo defeat during the civil war of 1967-`1970. Since the present administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Yoruba people have been deliberate ...
REMINISCENCE OF THE PAST: Alhaji Sir, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa: Nigerian First-Prime Minister. A village boy who became a village headmaster and a nation’s FIRST PRIME-MINISTER. He was a true leader who possessed the qualities of a true leadership; a true leader who led by example, a leader whose leadership was accepted by all and sundry irrespective of tribal or religion. A leader who led with the philosophy of a Fulani herdsman that sacrificed his health and comfort for his cattle. A political leader that came in to the politics to serve but not to be served, to give, but not to take. A leader whose philosophy then if he lives today could solve all the problems of this great country, security wise, politically, economically and socially. He was a leader whose leadership cut across tribal, religion and cultural boundaries. His greatest achievement is something that we should learn today. Tafawa Balewa under his leadership had the whole Northern Nigeria UNITED; there was no RELIGION OR INTER-TRIBAL VIOLE ...

In the summer of 1963, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was on his only annual leave as Prime Minister of Nigeria. He did not go to London, Paris or Washington to enjoy his annual vacation, but rather went to Tafawa Balewa village in Bauchi. A British photojournalist came to interview the Prime Minister, learnt the Prime Minister was on his annual leave and asked for his contact overseas. The journalist was amazed, when he learnt, that the Prime Minister was enjoying his annual leave in his Tafawa Balewa village. - THISDAY, THE SUNDAY NEWSPAPER. MARCH 10, 2013.
2015: Reject Bad Leaders – Buhari Former head of state and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 election, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday asked the electorate to reject bad leaders in future polls. Buhari blamed the parlous state of the country’s education sector on ineffective leadership. He spoke on“Uniting our People for Change” in Zaria, Kaduna State,at a conference organised by the Movement for a Better Future (MFBF). Buhari urged Nigerians to yearn for effective leadership in future elections. “The biggest problem of this ineffective leadership in Nigeria is education. If you deny people effective education you have finished them,” he stated. “Education is a vital tool for human existence and development. God has given Nigeria both material and human resources but we have not used them effectively. We have failed to organise ourselves to harness these resources. We have been talking about Sardauna, Awolowo, Azikwe and Tafawa Balewa as gre ...
PDP lies: ''nigerians should support continuity, vote for PDP''. ''Support Continuity'' has been a slogan during campaigns by the PDP. Is Second term NGF chairmanship of Amaechi not continuity.?
When the Western countries realise the impracticality of direct aggression, they work on a long-term plan to cultivate some stooges and bring them to power. In Iran they did this with the Shah. When he was toppled by Dr Musaddaq and Dr Fatmi, the CIA struck. The Shah was reinstated, Dr Fatmi was murdered and Dr Musaddaq was dumped in jail for years. The Iranians then had to wait almost 25 years for a messiah – Imam Khomeini – to free them from tyranny, corruption, murders, tortures, etc. Similarly, the independence hero of Algeria, Ahmad Ben Bella, was removed by an ungrateful army chief. The same fates struck Kwame Nkrumah, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nasser, Sukarno, Qaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Gen. Zia, etc., after their utility to the West had ceased to exist. Now they are after the blood of Bashar al-Assad. The Iranians are lucky in that they have honest, God-fearing, proud leaders (and public). Musharraf was thrust upon us and he served the US better than any American could eve ...

the ealier Nigerians understands that religion is not suppose to be part of ways government should do things the better. the matter of saperate campus for either female or male NYSC camps, the issue of most of the positions in a particular group or association are all christians or muslims, the issue that most states are for christians or muslims, the issue of a leader most be a muslim or christian should be dropped. all that is in mention afore are salty ways that leads to crash in a country. hundreds of years back american stablize its democracy by ruling out this out of its way. the eralier the better we the citizens begin to realise this the better. credibility can be and is found in all ethnic, religous and diversity of all sorts. back then, who cares about china? but today, china have risen to a level that is the most threat seen globally by all nations because they stood out to present them selves. and clearly conditions are lined for situatons and cases of twin nature as above. we shall in no way ...
Glo Premier League Wrap: Pillars maintain lead Table-topping Kano Pillars continued their top spot on the log despite losing two-nil to Elkanemi Warriors at the Elkanemi Stadium on Wednesday. At the Adamashingba Stadium, a sublime freekick by Kwara United midfielder Dare Ojo silenced Shooting Stars SC fans in the 45th minute. The away side were looking to go back to Ilorin with the maximum points before Taofeek Adepoju restored parity for the hosts with a 72nd-minute strike. It was an important goal for 3SC. The game ended one-all. Warri Wolves maintained the pressure at the top of the table as they staged a late comeback to force Sunshine Stars to a 1-1. The hosts took the lead early in the first half through Ogagathewo Oke’s header in the 68th minute. Later in the game their advantage was short-lived, however, defensive rock Ike ThankGod equalised and the game ended 1-1. The result ensured Wolves stayed within five points off the leaders. "JNI Wants Separate Camp For Male And Female Corpers" The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has called on the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to stop mixing males and females in the National Youth Service Scheme physical exercise at orientation camps as it violates Islamic tenets and offends the sensibilities of Muslims. This JNI Secretary General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar, said this at the end of a peace and unity conference for Muslim scholars in Kaduna State. Abubakar called on the NYSC to respect the decency and chastity of female corps members during physical exercises and other activities at the orientation camps, and provide alternative camps for female Muslim corps members. JNI also noted that the refusal of the federal government to institute a judicial process of inquiry or prosecute those arrested or accused of perpetrating violence in the country is an indication of a leadership that is not sensitive to the plight of the people, adding that the attacks and displacement of Muslims ...
Cannot for the life of me pronounce this Surname correctly: Griffith. How silly. In future I will just get out of it by saying: ' hello Sir'...
--The Hausa and Fulani uslim Elders Forum of Jos held a meeting on the 28th of December 2010 in Bauchi and published their resolutions in the Nation Newspaper of 30th Dec. 2010 saying: -- Muslims in the State shall ensure that a few months before the general elections, Jihad will be declared in the State which cannot be controlled even by security agencies, with great slaughter and massacre, which the Federal Government will have no option than to declare a State of Emergency in Plateau . The Hausa and Fulani Muslim s onslaught against Plateau State and other ethnic minority non Muslims in Middle-Belt States can best be explained in the context of the broader Islamic expansionist agenda of Othman Dan Fodio . These States are now being seen as Islam s defined territories of Dar Al Harb (House of war) to be intimidated and occupied for Islamization.
How i wish something of this nature could happen in Nigeria. I want to see a day when all Nigerians should come out massively and stage protest and riot against govt irrespective of religious, tribal or sectional differences
9 Most Dangerous Nigerians (Dead or Alive) Only call them dangerous and not evil. So here it is; a list of some of the most dangerous Nigerian men. Dangerous because their actions either changed the state of the nation to a large extent, Or their actions led to a multiplier effect; that is, set the pace for other actions to take place, Or they were not what a large percentage of the population thought them to be. Nigeria’s leadership has never thrived on individuals’ aspiration, as the recruitment process veers off weirdly from normal. It has always been some mutative force casting aside whoever nursed the ambition to whoever they please. It is a nation that has survived on the blood of sacrificial lambs, to leave the country in the hands of who never wanted to rule, a classical case of conspiracy of an evil hue. President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan has been a child of circumstance from the start, rising, politically speaking, from obscurity to become whatever any man alive or dead would wish. He confessed that he never dreamt of becoming the president of Nigeria. Awo, on the other hand, would have given a limb to be in Jonathan’s shoes. Or at the very least, wished for the same destiny for himself but it never came his way. Awo wanted to be Nigeria’s president. Some historians believe his betrayal of Biafra was part of his calculations to get there. Yet, everything ended as a daydream for the late sa ...

In the 1950s and 1960s…the “big man” syndrome did not exist. Even “Baba” Nnamdi Azikiwe, as a typical Lagos boy, knew how to socially relate with people informally. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa mixed with people as he visited friends unannounced in his Volkswagen Beetle car”

late Abubakar Tafawa balewa, the first Prime Minister of Nigeria and the member of the legislative council in 1948- said that many Nigerians. " deceive themselves by thinking that Nigeria is one. This is wrong ! I am sorry to say that the presence of unity is artificial and it ends outside this chamber ... This southern tribes who are now pouring into the North is ever increasing in numbers... Do not mix with the Northern People in social matters, as we in the North look upon them as invaders."

To further this overriding need for unity, my colleagues in the Council of Ministers and I have decided to give the country a lead by inviting the leaders of the Action Group to form with us a truly National Government composed of members of the main parties in the Country, and here I must pay tribute to Dr Azikiwe, to Chief Awolowo, Dr Endeley and to the leader of my own party, the Sardauna of Sokoto, for supporting me in this decision. President Goodluck Jonathan, former military dictator, Gen. They spoke in a compilation of tributes in the programme of events at the eighth day fidau for Mogaji in Lagos on Sunday. Hundreds of dignitaries from all walks of life thronged the Tafawa Balewa Square venue to pay their last respects. Let me make a comment as a historian. First let me drow ur attention to 1914 when Nigeria was amalgamated. By next year Nigeria will be a hundred years in amalgamation. Count the leaders that ruled from 1960 to date, make a table for those from the Sourth and those in the North. Find out the differences. Asked yourself this QUESTION who are responsible for making Nigeria what it is today? Northerners a claiming they want to break likewise the sourtherners. If we break who will suffer it most? Lets remove sentiment, religion and love our country and defend it together and their will be progress. Pray for Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.
