Abraham Lincoln & George Washington

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through a great constitutional, military and moral crisis – the American Civil War – preserving the Union, while ending slavery, and promoting economic and financial modernization. George Washington ( – , 1799) was the First President of the United States of America, serving from 1789 to 1797, and the dominant military and political leader of the United States from 1775 to 1799. He led the American victory over Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army from 1775 to 1783, and presided over the writing of the Constitution in 1787. Washington became the First President by unanimous choice, and oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the wars raging in Europe, suppressed rebellion and won acceptance among Americans of all types. 5.0/5

I really get scared when I see a sitting President lacking knowledge of our past president and there actions. You may Recall that a few weeks ago, President Obama spoke of three former Presidents making prisoner swaps at the end of wars that Took place on their watch, "much like his swap" he said Convincingly. CNSNews.com carried this quote, “This is what happens at the end of wars,” President Barack Obama boasted Tuesday when he was asked about swapping American Army Sgt. Deserter for five vicious Taliban terrorists. "That was true for George Washington... That was true for Abraham Lincoln and that was true for FDR. That’s been true of every combat situation, that at some point, you make sure that you try to get your folks back... And that’s the right thing to do.” Really? That statement blatantly demonstrates that the most powerful man in the World and term President of the United States lacks Even a grade school level of knowledge of American History; specifically, history as it Relates to th ...

War is when government tells who the enemy is ::: Revolution is when You figure it out for yourself :::."Government is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." - George Washington .GEORGE WASHINGTON, letter to Benedict Arnold, Sep. 14, 1775 Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote! It is interesting how history of the mid-to-late 1800s-period has been revised. Revision of history was ramped-up during the 1920s and 1930s. My generation which graduated in the 1960s was not taught these facts in most schools, but there were clues and hints that we were not being told the whole story. Many times history classes never got around to studying the Civil War. Generations were taught only about how good and how honest Lincoln was through the stories about his early life. In my elementary school there were pictures in the hall of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. I remember as a child believing Washington was the First President and Lincoln was the second President. I couldn't understand how their clothing was so different, but I never challenged the perception that Lincoln was the second President. Historians waited until all of the people who were alive during the Civil War and the Restoration were dead of old age. THEN HISTORIANS WROTE THE HISTORY BOOKS TO TELL THE STORY THE ...
Did you know... ... that today, besides being Independence Day in the United States (Happy 4th of July!), is Washington's Face Dedication Day? In 1934, at Mount Rushmore, George Washington's face was dedicated. Two years later in 1936, Thomas Jefferson's face was completed and dedicated. The following year on September 17, 1937, Abraham Lincoln's face was dedicated. The final carving, Theodore Roosevelt, was completed and dedicated in 1939. Celebrate our history today!
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln fought the red coats in WWI so we could celebrate today! Celebrate well!
Happy Fourth of July! Celebrate the spirit of independence with us. The Morgan is open until 5 pm! Pierpont Morgan collected Americana, including rare documents and objects, as a testament to his love for his country. Some of the world's greatest men and women have been saddled with disabilities and adversities but they have managed to overcome  and go on to greatness.  They have taught us that circumstances do not make us what we are, but they reveal what we are made of.       "Cripple him, and you have a Sir Walter Scott.  Lock him in a prison cell, and you have a John Bunyan.  Bury him in the snows of Valley Forge, and you have a George Washington.  Raise him in abject poverty, and you have an Abraham Lincoln.  Strike him down with infantile paralysis, and he becomes Franklin D. On this Flag Day here is a "Voice of the Flag": I am your Flag. I was born on June 14, 1777. I am more than just a piece of cloth shaped into a colorful design, I am a silent sentinel of freedom for the greatest sovereign nation on earth. I am the inspiration for which America patriots gave their lives and fortunes, I am the emblem of America. I have led your sons and daughters into battle from Valley Forge to Vietnam. I have been there through the Civil War, Two World Wars, at Gettysburg, Flanders, Korea, the Gulf War, and all of them. I was there with George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and I am here with you now. I have flown through Peace and War. Through strife and prosperity, and amidst it all, I have always been respected. My red stripes symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this glorious nation. My white stripes, the burning tears shed by Americans who lost their sons in battle. My blue field represents God's Heaven under which I fly, and my stars, cluster ...

I know that, but when I called you George Washington, you said something Abraham Lincoln said.
I am going to share with you the real last words of fifty famous and deceased individuals. And.go! George Washington's last words were "'Tis well." John Adams said, "Thomas Jefferson still survives" which, curiously, wasn't true; Jefferson had died earlier that same day, July 4th, 1826. Jefferson's last words were "Is it the Fourth?" When Henrik Ibsen's nurse said, "You seem to be feeling much better today," he said "On the contrary." Winston Churchhill said "I'm bored with it all." The Roman emperor Vespasian said "Woe is me, I think I'm becoming a god." Nero said, "What an artist the world is losing in me." Those Roman emperors sure knew a thing or two about humility. When Lady Astor woke up from a stupor to find everyone she knew in her room she said, "Am I dying or is this my birthday?" It wasn't her birthday. The poet Dylan Thomas's last known words were "I've had 18 straight whiskeys; I believe that's the record." Abraham Lincoln said to his wife, "They won't think anything of it," just before John ...

Quotes From U.S. Presidents About The Bible “Do not let any one claim to be a true American if they ever attempt to remove religion from politics.” - First President of the United States – George Washington “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” - Fourth President of the United States & founding Father – James Madison “That I am not a member of any Christian church is true; but I have never denied the truth of the Scriptures; and I have never spoken with intentional disrespect of religion in general, or of any denomination of Christians in particular….I do not think I could myself be brought to support a man for office whom I knew to be an open enemy of, or scoffer at, religion.” - Abraham Lincoln “Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet-anchor of your liberties; write its precepts ...
Very nice job by the kids at the Bradford elementary school "wax museum." The wax museum is a chance for second graders to learn about history. I was very impressed as the second graders told me about Dr. Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi.
Ladies and Gents - it's time for this old guy to put it to bed. Got a real good report from the Surgeon that did the work on my back. He said that I'm "ahead of the curve" with my re-hab. I guess one of the benefits of a lifetime of wrecks and fights is that I am really experienced at re-hab. So. I'll leave you with another joke tonight. Hope you get a smile out of this: When Abraham Liebowitz gets to school he discovers that he is the only Jewish kid in the class. But it's a decent town and nobody really bothers him. One day the teacher asks the class "Who was the greatest person who ever lived? and why?" And to make it interesting she held a twenty dollar bill in the air and said "whoever gives the best answer will get this twenty dollars". All of the kids called out their guesses. One said "George Washington - because he was the father of our country." "That's excellent" said the teacher. Another said "Abraham Lincoln - because he freed the slaves." "That's also good" said the teacher, reluctant to bes ...
Who are the true Ascended Masters of the I.I.A.? In the late 18th century, Karl von Eckartshausen, a Christian mystic, describes the true Adepts of the Rose Cross in the following terms: "These sages, whose number is small, are children of light, and are opposed to darkness. They dislike mystification and secrecy; they are open and frank, have nothing to do with secret societies and with external ceremonies. They possess a spiritual temple, in which God is presiding". Later, in the early 20th century, Max Heindel, a Rosicrucian Initiate, emphasizes that the roots of the Brothers of the Rose Cross, immersed in the western mystery tradition, are almost impossible to be traced as "theirs is a work which aims to encourage the evolution of humanity, they have labored far back into antiquity--under one guise or another". Famous Rosicrucian Initiates... George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Marquis de LaFayette Thomas Paine Arnold Krumm-Heller George Clymer Ethan Allen Hitchcock John Brown Willi ...
I don't like Barack Obama as a president, though I think he is probably a really cool guy. I didn't like George W. Bush as a president either, but he made it clear that no one messes with us and gets away with it. There are three presidents that I do like, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and FDR! I will never vote for anyone into office unless they have the characteristics of those three men. We need a president with some kind of back bone who isn't afraid to do what is best for the people and not for their pockets. FDR wasn't afraid to use his Executive Orders, he made over 3,000 Executive Orders. Did that make him a dictator? No. Our presidents today let congress control them like marionette puppets! So ridicule me all you want for having my opinions about our presidents today. You can vote for puppets all you want but you are blind to the fact that voting for the "lesser evil" is probably the most idiotic thing anyone can do. Either way evil will still be "running" this country. Now i am not just t ...
George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were all Land Surveyors before taking office as the President.
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of United States of America. He has been regarded as one of the greatest presidents of America. He was the first secretary of state of United States of America who has worked under George Washington. Thomas Jefferson was strictly against Slavery and called for abolition of Slavery in America. He is said to have influenced Abraham Lincoln in this regard.
I have confirmation that both Abraham Lincoln and George Washington will attend. I need a couple more presidents make up Mount Rushmore... who's in!? (Fine print: you don't have to be an actual president, dressing like one counts)

OBAMA HAILS UHURU:Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta, became the First President in the history of Africa to marshal all the 54 nations in Africa with the aim of amending an international statute that favoured his cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC). With a great smile and charisma and with the assistance of his Deputy, William Ruto, Uhuru traversed all over the African continent and eventually managed to force the amendments to the rules of the Assembly of State Parties which forms the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to a secret annual journal published by the White House last week, US President Barrack Obama described Uhuru as an “African leader who is loved by all Africans”. He said the African Union (AU)’s support for his case at the ICC is a good indication that Uhuru may onetime become one of the greatest leaders in Africa. “Europe has Winston Churchill, America has George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, Russia has Stalin and Khrushchev and Africa in the next decad ...
A 2010 Siena poll of 238 Presidential scholars found that former President George W. Bush was ranked 39th out of 43, with poor ratings in handling of the economy, communication, ability to compromise, foreign policy accomplishments, and intelligence. Meanwhile, the current president, Barack Obama was ranked 15th out of 43, with high ratings for imagination, communication ability and intelligence and a low rating for background (family, education and experience).[13][14] The C-SPAN Survey of Presidential Leadership consists of rankings from a group of presidential historians and "professional observers of the presidency"[15] who ranked presidents in a number of categories initially in 2000 and more recently in 2009.[16][17] With some minor variation, both surveys found that historians consider Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Franklin D. Roosevelt the three best presidents by a wide margin and William Henry Harrison (to a lesser extent), Warren G. Harding, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, George W. ...

National Day OF PRAYER The National Day of Prayer is held annually on the first Thursday in May. This day of observance, designated by the United States Congress, asks people “to turn to God in pray and meditation”. The modern law formalizing the annual National Day of Prayer observance was enacted in 1952 and each year since, the president of the United States has signed a proclamation, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. Prior to 1952, there were a few other individual National Days of Prayer in United States history. July 20, 1775 – The Continental Congress issued a proclamation recommending “a day of public humiliation, fasting, and prayer” be observed. In 1795 – George Washington proclaimed a day of public thanksgiving and prayer. May 9, 1798 – John Adams declared this day as “a day of solemn humility, fasting, and prayer”. March, 1863 – On March 3, Abraham Lincoln signed a Congressional resolution, during the Civil War, which called for April 30, 1863 as a day of f ...
It should be EVERY day, but.today is National Honesty Day April 30 is National Honesty Day in the United States. M. Hirsh Goldberg invented this day and chose the last day of April, as the first day of this month is April Fool’s Day, a day full of lies and pranks. On National Honesty Day, everyone is expected to answer truthfully to all questions they are asked. M. Hirsh Goldberg, author and former Press Secretary of Maryland, thought of this day in the early 1990′s while working on his book The Book of Lies: Fibs, Tales, Schemes, Scams, Fakes, and Frauds That Have Changed The Course of History and Affect Our Daily Lives. National Honesty Day may also have been designed to commemorate the truthfulness of presidents and other past noble leaders such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. This day can be used to tell of their great stories of honesty. As we all know…….. Honesty is the best policy.
I have been looking back at history, where I notice President Reagan was shot yet out of the list of Freemaons' who else...remember sorry Im an Australian. George Washington, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, James Polk, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, James Garfield, William Mckinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Warren Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George Bush were all Masonic Presidents of the U.S.A. When JFK was assassinated LB Johnson took over, then Andrew Johnson took over from Abraham Lincoln? I know Freemason's are normally good, however what I have found in Kings Cross a Lodge j which linked to the Grand Lodge No 2 in South Africia and the front in Sydney was just Freemason's.food for thought when we have Bush on the list.

NEW RELEASE - Four Great Americans by Baldwin - Learn more about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin and Daniel Webster
This is a letter that I was fortunate enough to read. Thought I would pass it along to those who might like to read it too. I wanted to share these with you as the movie Noah hits theaters and will no doubt saturate public conversation for a little while at least: Today the movie "Noah" is coming out to the big screen. And I want to share why Christians and churches should view this as a great opportunity to talk about their faith--and why it is foolish to waste time and energy attacking the film. In our secular world, getting people thinking about God is a good thing. The problem with much of our culture today--and certainly where culture is going--is the almost absence of God from the public square. Where as presidents, school teachers, and other public figures used to quote from Scripture, pray publicly, observe Christian holidays, etc. (read some of George Washington's speeches, or that of Abraham Lincoln--they are God saturated), today, for example, Governor Scott Walker is facing being sued for twee ...
Do I Know You All? Hi guys! I enjoyed writing, producing, and performing American Presidents. It was a fun challenge to research and rhyme this list of leaders (or puppets) (check out these American Presidents research blogs: It was a great intellectual discovery. Everybody is familiar with (or should be familiar with) the commonly highlighted names of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln, but very few people recognize the obscure names of James K. Polk, Franklin Pierce, and Calvin Coolidge. Admittingly, I did not even know about some of these American Presidents until I wrote the song. Oops! This is the hardest song for me to perform on the album. After Musical Poetry: Semester One was published, I started attending open-mic sessions in nightclubs in my city and state of Richmond, Virginia. For the most part, I performed my songs eloquently. But American Presidents gave me trouble the first two times that I performed it. At Addis Ethiopian Restaurant, I messed up the song. After I ...

“Obama has to be our funniest president yet” Have you met Abraham Lincoln or George Washington ?
Throughout our history, the United States of America has been blessed with outstanding leaders, starting with the Founding Fathers. Four of our best presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, are immortalized on Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Other great or near-great presidents might include Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and John Kennedy. What about great senators? In my lifetime, there have been some outstanding U.S. Senators, such as Mike Mansfield of Montana, Everett Dirksen of Illinois, Howard Baker of Tennessee, Philip Hart of Michigan, Richard Russell of Georgia, Sam Ervin of North Carolina, J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, Richard Lugar Indiana and Ernest Hollings of South Carolina. These men had a few things in common: courage, integrity, knowledge and wisdom. Moreover, they were able to rise above politics, putting the good of our nation as a whole ahead of partisan, parochial or personal interests. Although the true merits o ...
Mr Peabody and Sherman was so cute. Best part? Adult joke at the end of the movie. George Washington gives a speech and gives mr Peabody a Presidential Pardon. Abraham Lincoln stands up and agrees. Bill Clinton raises his hand and says "I've done worse." Lmao I burst out laughing in the theater :)
When asked to comment on the character of James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson stated, "Turn his sole wrong side outward, and there is not a speck on it." Imagine if we could say this about our current politicians? Our country has made some of the greatest leaps mankind has ever seen, but we have lost many of the aspects that made this country so great. I long for politicians that put their country, not party first. Politicians that truly care about protecting the inalienable rights of their constituents are few and far between. We need more God fearing leaders like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Ronald Reagan, to name a few. I urge you to find these leaders and elect them! We need to elect these men and women on the local, state, and federal levels.

Guess what my kids have been learning about in school for black history month? Neil Armstrong, Johnny Appleseed, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington (without the Carver) and so on and so fourth. I'm just so happy that we have a black history month where all kids no matter what walk of life can learn about black contributions to American society. Aren't you?!?!?!?!!
I went to Jacob's school where the 1st through 3rd grades were doing reports about US presidents while the 4th through 8th grades were doing oral reports for book reports. I got to learn about The Call of the Wild, Old Yeller, Pippi Longstocking, George Washington's efforts in the Revolutionary War AND Abraham Lincoln's involvement in the "Silver" War! Made my DAY!!!
On Presidents Day, why do we always see ads that feature George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, singing the blues for a car dealer or selling mattresses? Why not Herbert Hoover, William Mckinley or "Silent" Calvin Coolidge? Or at least Teddy Roosevelt or Ulysses S. Grant whose faces may be more familiar? Not to mention any president since Truman.
Jesse and his team investigate rumors that the government has developed secret time travel technology beginning with the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk Project and that it has been used as a weapon to alter historical events. Later they meet Andrew D. Basiago, a man who claims that as a child, he was "chrononaut" working for his father at the Los Alamos National Laboratory on a DARPA experiment called "Project Pegasus" and was sent back in time to meet historical figures such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
My Top 10 Presidents: 1.) Abraham Lincoln (Emancipation Proclamation. Slavery built America but would have also destroyed it. Pushed Human Rights forward by centuries. Gettysburg Address. Embodied Commander & Chief although not a military man. Saved the union. Had the south seceded they would be a 3rd world county.) 2.) Franklin D. Roosevelt (Ran the free world but couldn't walk. Inherited soup kitchens and empty financial system. Biggest turnaround of any POTUS. 4 Term Elected. Social Security. TVA. Used government correctly to empower not enable people. Kept the US alive in darkest hours of Great Depression. 3.) George Washington (His face is on the single! President of War. Extreme Tactical genius ahead of his time. Defeated best army in the world. Built the banking system. Helped transition from the articles of confederation to the US Constitution. Capital named after him. Monument symbolizes everything good and bad with geopolitics. 4.) Thomas Jefferson (Doubled US in size. Laid gr ...
Lance, my son said, "Dad, did you know George Washington was our First President? He's on the dollar. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president. He's on the penny and five dollar bill. And Barak Obama is the president now". I asked, "what money is Obama on?" He said, "Probably all of it. I think Washington was a better president than this one." Politically brilliant. Economically aware and historically correct. Think like a child.

Presidential Beer Facts: George Washington had his very own brew house on Mount Vernon and Abraham Lincoln owned several beer taverns. Prost to you Mr. Presidents!
Happy President's Day! I like to remind myself what a wicked cool country I grew up in by remembering my favorite Presidents on holidays like today. Of course Washington and Lincoln were singular characters, you could hardly imagine making up, much less digging on the fact they actually walked the planet. The actor David Morse played George Washington as a hulking, no nonsense warrior, who didn't waste a breath except to say exactly what was on his mind, when asked. Daniel Day Lewis playing Abraham Lincoln was nothing less than a revelation both as actor and the man he portrayed. My favorite President is Harry Truman, for his courage and fortitude against astounding pressures. I also like the drunkards and womanizers, who found life as a rock star a very real human challenge. One thing I picked up from watching the West Wing was a little speech Jedidiah Bartlet gives to someone who had the nerve to call him by his first name, and not the preferred Mr. President. The TV President explains why it's importan ...
I would never want to be president of the Unites States. The position is one that I can not even begin to understand the sacrifice and dedication needed. I may not have agreed with each of the presidents listed below, but each gave of their time and talent and skills to try and make the United States a better place. I bow my head in prayer of thanksgiving for each of these souls: George Washington (1789-1797) John Adams (1797-1801) Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809) James Madison (1809-1817) James Monroe (1817-1825) John Quincy Adams (1825-1829) Andrew Jackson (1829-1837) Martin Van Buren (1837-1841) William H. Harrison (1841) John Tyler (1841-1845) James K. Polk (1841-1849) Zachary Taylor (1849-1850) Millard Fillmore (1850-1853) Franklin Pierce (1853-1857) James Buchanan (1857-1861) Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865) Andrew Johnson (1865-1869) Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877) Rutherford B. Hayes (1877-1881) James A. Garfield (1881) Chester A. Arthur (1881-1885) Grover Cleveland (1885-1889) Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893 .. ...
Presidents Day Fast Fact: Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the First President of the United States. It is also a state holiday in most states where it is known by a variety of names including Presidents Day and Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday and officially celebrates, depending upon the state, Washington alone, Washington and Lincoln, or some other combination of U.S. presidents. Some states celebrate Washington and the third President Thomas Jefferson but not Lincoln. Colloquially, the holiday is widely known as "Presidents Day" and is often an occasion to celebrate, or at least remember, all presidents and not just George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Both Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays are in February. In historical rankings of Presidents of the United States both Lincoln and Washington are frequently, but not always, the top two presidents.

From Wall Street Journal by Tevi Troy. Our earliest presidents, George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, were all assiduous readers—of history and philosophy, and the Bible as well. During his student days at Princeton, Madison even studied Hebrew so he could better understand the Good Book. John Quincy Adams wrote letters to his son on the Bible's teachings, including his philo-Semitic but grim assessment of the Jewish prophets as "messengers, specifically commissioned of God, to warn the people of their duty, to foretell the punishments which awaited their transgressions." Abraham Lincoln was one of the most diligent readers of all U.S. presidents, though he had a limited selection of books as a child. Fortunately his books included the Bible, which he read and reread. From this he learned a common but elevated language, which allowed him to connect with ordinary Americans, who understood his frequent biblical allusions and references. Lincoln's famous opening to the Gettysb ...

Matthew 5:14-16 ~ "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." The Mount Rushmore National Memorial (cover picture) is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. With Presidents' Day on Monday here are some Fun Facts about our Founding Fathers.George Washington – President Washington had the misfortune of tooth loss from the age of 22. Contrary to the common myth that he had dentures made of wood, his dentures were actually made of ivory and gold and were made by his loyal dentist, John Greenwood. John Adams – Our second president might have been the worst offender yet. President Adams refused to care for his teeth and eventually lost them all. Refusing to wear dentures, he developed a lisp when he spoke from the missing teeth. The fact that he smoked from a young age might have contributed to his teeth’s demise. Thomas Jefferson – Not only did President Jefferson have the vision to order the Lewis-Clark expedition, he also took impeccable care of his teeth. At age 75, Jefferson penned, “I have not yet lost a tooth to age”. Abraham Lincoln – President Lincoln may not be that different than a lot of people after all. He was reported to be deathly afra ...

Faces of freedom emboss history like ink penned from a quill on fine parchment. The canvas ignites the cosmos with beauty and grace, leaving a lasting impression upon the perception of those who envision global fellowship ascending to the Almighty in unbreakable currents of life, power, and love. The rare fabric interwoven into the hearts of these men and women infused with the intricate tapestry from the Master Artist will never be torn by society, for it embraces a unique purpose for mankind in a history of war, saints, and the church—freedom in all its glory. History pages stained with the perseverance of civil libertarian fighters blazon a path for future generations. George Washington first instilled this ideology when he refused to be a king and chose religious freedom for a new nation. Abraham Lincoln bravely conceded to a war that threatened demise of a new nation, refusing to allow slavery to quell the rights of ALL men. Likewise, Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” and Rosa Parks ...

On September 18, 1982, in a Radio Address to the Nation, President Ronald Reagan stated: At every crucial turning point in our history Americans have faced and overcome great odds, strengthened by spiritual faith. The Plymouth settlers triumphed over hunger, disease, and a cruel Northern wilderness because, in the words of William Bradford, “They knew they were Pilgrims, so they committed themselves to the will of God and resolved to proceed.” George Washington knelt in prayer at Valley Forge and in the darkest days of our struggle for independence said that “the fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army.” Thomas Jefferson, perhaps the wisest of our Founding Fathers, had no doubt about the source from which our cause was derived. “The God who gave us life,” he declared, “gave us liberty.” And nearly a century later, in the midst of a tragic and at times seemingly hopeless Civil War, Abraham Lincoln vowed that “this nation, under God, shal ...

Part 3... Granted the relationships are sometimes distant 10th or 15th cousins, but in a country with hundreds of millions to choose from, this simply cannot be chance or coincidence. Gary Boyd Roberts, a genealogist at the New England Historic Genealogical Society thoroughly traced these connections in his book “Ancestors of American Presidents.” George W. Bush himself is directly related to 16 former U.S. presidents including George Washington, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, Grover Cleveland, Teddy Roosevelt, William H. Taft, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford. Bush is closely related to the king of Albania and has kinship with every member of the British royal family and the House of Windsor. He is related to 20 British Dukes, the 13th cousin of Britain’s Queen Mother, and of her daughter Queen Elizabeth. He is 13th cousin once removed from Prince Charles and has direct des ...
POLITICALLY INCORRECT THOUGHTS ABOUT WASHINGTON POLITICIANS, THEN, AND NOW 1. No career politician in Washington, today, respects the Framers, the Constitution, or even the idea that their power should be limited, and should not be trusted, at anytime, on anything. The Framers established a federal government with limited powers, which they enumerated in the Constitution, and, interestingly, set no terms of service for federal judges, but did so for elected officials whose terms were set for 2, 4, or 6, years. The Framers, thus, left it to the honor of elected officials to return to civilian life after rendering service to the nation, never intending politics to be a career; thus, any politician, who makes a career out of politics, insults the Constitution’s intent, and dishonors the Framers' attempt to make of public politicians, public servants. 2. George Washington, this country’s greatest President (historians who place Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt above Washington cannot be taken ...
We all know that the Declaration of Independence was adopted in Philadelphia, that Abraham Lincoln was tall, and that John F. Kennedy Jr. said, Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country. But there are literally thousands of great American-history facts that we don’t know about . Here’s a grab bag of twenty: 1. The shortest inaugural address in U.S. history -- 135 words -- was given in 1793 by George Washington. His dentures hurt, and he wanted to get it over with. 2. George Washington was also quite an alcohol manufacturer. In 1798 alone, he produced 11,000 gallons of whiskey. 3. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the great explorers of the Northwest, gave President Thomas Jefferson two bear cubs. Jefferson kept his new pets on the South Lawn of the White House. 4. Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod, but he didn’t stop there. He’s also credited for the urinary catheter. 5. Abigail Adams, foreshadowing later feminists like Susan B. Anthony, tartly r . ...

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are bad a$$... One fought the four horseman of the apocalypse and the other killed vampires!!!
Franklin Roosevelt was probably the most awesome president after Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. He brought change to the world
In a nutshell, here is the liberal, politically correct history of the United States: Native Americans evolved from apes. Columbus came and raped and killed Native Americans because he thought they were Indians. The Pilgrims came, gave Native Americans a Thanksgiving dinner, and ripped them off by buying Manahattan for glass beads and trinkets. Christian-hating Freemason deists George Washington and Thomas Jefferson invented slavery. Abraham Lincoln was a victim of gun violence that could have been prevented with gun control laws. Woodrow Wilson saved the world and invented peace. Franklin Roosevelt cured the Great Depression. Richard Nixon raped women at My Lai and was impeached for Viet Nam. Bill Clinton was the greatest president before Obama. BushHitler invaded Iraq. -Adapted from Charles Kimball with some changes by me.

MANDELA, MANDELA, THE GREAT Nelson Mandela IS DEAD. Other heroes went before him like Steve Biko. I am certain they will converse in Heaven about accomplishing their mission on earth. Mandela, the unknown prophet of God. Just like his counter part Martin Luther King. Mandela surpassed all Africans great heroes like Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkruma, Sekou Toure, Jomo Kenyetta, William V.S. Tubman, Houpheot Boigny, Haile Selassie, Thomas Sankara etc. He is now in the unique league of the World Greatest, heroes, Champions and Leaders; Mother Theresa,Harriet Tubman, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi, Mao Tse-tung,Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, and Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev. We could also put him in the league with great heroes and warriors like Julius Caesar,Napoleon Bonaparte and King James of England. I won't hesitate to include him in the class of Biblical Heroes an leaders such Abraham, Moses, Joshua, especially Joseph, Cleopatra, Esther, David, Mose ...

Once And For All Have you noticed throughout American History that the most popular presidents were the ones that overcame the most adversity to do the right thing. George Washington faced the impossible task of freeing this nation from the clutches ot England. While he was fighting for this end, many Americans did not agree with him, in fact he was hated by many, but he went on to do what they thought was the impossible. Here we are today. Abraham Lincoln was hated by a large portion of this country’s population for his fight to end slavery. Many thought that would be our downfall. How much more adversity can you face than watching so many of your citizens dying in such a senseless but necessary way? The only way, at the time, to overcome the ignorance he faced. He is now one of our most celebrated presidents because of it. Franklin Delano Roosevelt had to deal with a world war that he could foresee as possibly an eventual end to our freedoms. He also had a huge part of the population that did not ...

Isaiah 54:13 - All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children. I have heard the story of George Washington when he was faced with nearly being relieved of his command, he got on his knees and sought the Lord.after seeking the Father God he then took his troops and crossed the Potomac River. Abraham Lincoln a man like George Washington who was a man who read the Word of God; he also got on his knees often then was able to pass the Emancipation Proclamation. Both of these men had their lives based on the Word of God; they sought the Lord when they needed help and He answered them. Our children need the same hope for tomorrow.Jesus tells us in His Word how He brings us life and that life more abundantly, He gives us a future and He answers our prayers even our silent prayers.let's give our children a future based on the One Constant Truth - The Word of God. Beloved black brother and sister don't you go to the movie and see Abraham Lincoln and think that that man really he freed you ,he did not love you any more than George Washington. George Washington had many black slaves and Abraham Lincoln said that if he could keep the union without freeing the slaves he would never have freed the slaves . Go read the history and do not go based on Hollywood trying to put a good face on him .If he is the great emancipator then why are you still singing we shall over come he is not the great emancipator. You have not been set free that is what God has come to do and he is making the case for your true liberation .
Thanksgiving 2013 - "Our Eyes Are On Thee" by Hal Lindsey In the Christian life, Thanksgiving is more than a holiday. It is a means of stepping out of defeat and into victory. It can be the choice that leads to faith, and is often faith's first work. It's the open window that banishes the darkest hour. Praising God is not a Pollyanna denial of reality, but the sober acknowledgment of a reality bigger than our fears and pain. We thank God because He deserves our thanks. And when we thank Him, it activates and amplifies faith. Therefore, it is the stuff of miracles. An American Holy Day The Thanksgiving holiday has deep roots in the American experience with connections to the Mayflower, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln. Unfortunately, in this era a growing number of people criticize every mention of God in public life. They regularly attack having "In God We Trust" on our money, prayer at the beginning of important civic events, recognition of the Bible's role in the development of our system of law, ...
On holidays, I always like to look back and see the origins of each; that is something that is especially enjoyable during this time of year – especially with Thanksgiving. This holiday has been around for quite some time. We often hear that it began with the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock or that it began with George Washington or even Abraham Lincoln. The reality is all those stories are true and, quite honestly, there are many others that are also true, but there is one that sticks out in my mind and that is what occurred in 1863. Looking back, we know that Lincoln had issued various proclamations proclaiming a day of Thanksgiving and Prayer as was customary for each President. We also know that he was encouraged by prominent writer and editor, Sara Josepha Hale of New Hampshire, who wrote to the President encouraging him to proclaim a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving that would be uniform throughout the entire nation. On October 3, 1863, a little over 150 years ago today, President Lincoln issued ...

Definitions of Truth - Thanksgiving: A pagan blood sacrifice holiday to commemorate the slaughter of millions of native people on this land. People where ordered by George Washington to celebrate each massacre committed by the troops by having a feast. Finally made into a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln. On that same day, he ordered the massacre of the Sioux people of Minnesota.
Freedom of speech Throughout American History, it is fairly easy to identify those who have acted as catalysts in social, political, or economic change. History books highlight and praise the likes of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson. They all share two significant characteristics the pursuit to better their country and the bravery to stand up for what they thought was right. Without their bravery and the freedom to act on it, it is questionable whether America's courageous figures would have accomplished all that they did. For that reason, the American citizens' right to the freedom of speech makes their lives and their posterity's lives better. Freedom of speech not only allows for change, but it encourages freethinking and the open exchange of ideas. It fosters healthy debate, active participation in government, and reform when needed. By being able to discuss suspected problems and trying to work towards a sol ...
With every episode of Sleepy Hollow I watch, I am constantly reminded of how messed up and filled with fictional characters my view of history is. In my mind, the most important historical figures in the Revolutionary War were George Washington, Paul Revere, Ichabod Crane, and Johnny Tremaine. And Abraham Lincoln for some reason.
Remembering my mom taking me with her to vote when I was a little girl. We voted at our Public Library, and they had little voting machines for children. I voted for George Washington and Abraham Lincoln...and many other great American...and we got to take the little ballots home, hanging chads and all. Thankful for the privilege to vote peacefully today and for learning young the importance of voting. Now, off to vote, with my 3 blessings in tow:-)
Teachers should not be allowed live near their students we're like natural enemies like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln - Bart Simpson
I just heard teachers and their students are natural enemies. Just like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
I wanna get a tattoo of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Bush Jr and Ronald Reagan. If I have room as my Mount Rushmore on my body
History When I was a child in school we studied history. And we learned about the Presidents throughout our Great Nations History. Like George Washington who was our First President. Who fought for our freedom from the English. He first lead this new nation as General as he fought the English. And had to endure many hardships in the early years of this Great Nation. George Washington lead the people of United States to our Freedom that have now. And lead us as a Great President as we drafted the Constitution of the United States. Yes I think That George Washington was one of our Great Presidents that has held this office. This is what I studied in school. Abraham Lincoln was a Great President also in our History books. He took a Nation that was divided North against South in a bloody war. In the years that he was office he did many Wonderful things for this Nation. The Nation was brought back together as the war ended. And he freed all the black slaves. Making it possible for our current President to hold ...
You know you've spent to much time in the Halloween store or your just a really disturbed person (like me) when your client asks you to illustrate some dead presidents and your mind instantly envisions a zombie George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
I believe that is my favorite quote from the movie "Lincoln": "Abraham Lincoln: It was right after the revolution, right after peace had been concluded. And Ethan Allen went to London to help our new country conduct its business with the king. The English sneered at how rough we are and rude and simple-minded and on like that, everywhere he went. Til one day he was invited to the townhouse of a great English lord. Dinner was served, beverages imbibed, time passed as happens and Mr. Allen found he needed the privy. He was grateful to be directed to this. Relieved, you might say. Mr. Allen discovered on entering the water closet that the only decoration therein was a portrait of George Washington. Ethan Allen done what he came to do and returned to the drawing room. His host and the others were disappointed when he didn't mention Washington's portrait. And finally his lordship couldn't resist and asked Mr. Allen had he noticed it. The picture of Washington. He had. Well what did he think of its placement? D ...

(Holds up the Constitution) It is time America. It it time to stand up to the government and in a voice so loud they cannot ignore us, and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH". The Constitution says in the very first line and paragraph. . We The People of the United States of America in order to form a more perfect Union put forth this this constitution. OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE of the United States of America. When will American citizens put their foot down and stop the Tyranny that the U.S. government inflicts upon us. When will we as a nation cast down fat bureaucrats and corrupt style of government thatvwe have and elect a new person to represent them. Not one that has made a life in politics but one who has worked the fields. Not one that pays lip service to the public but has earned blisters to pay his bills. When will america bring back to the government the presidents like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and JFK. Those who were bold enough to stand their ground, and for what they bel ...

Ronald Reagan, Wm. Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington were all born in February. I was born in Philadelphia February of 1974. The Constitution says you have to be 35 years old to be the President. I could've been the youngest President ever if I ran in '08 and the youngest so far if I ran in '12 however somebody born at a later date would be President sometime after even if he was older when he was elected that I was when I would've been elected. I've heard of Delusions of Grandeur and Grandiose Delusions but imagine if Jesus were President?
I have just finished an exhausting September full of appointments, events, travel, new experiences, and good memories.now I am ready to relax and re-focus. On this Saturday evening I am in bed with a book that I have been waiting to read while I listen to the whirrr pur of one content black kitten. I am reading, "The Case for the Christ of the New Testament." While I cannot pretend to comprehend all of the complexity of these scholars I am certainly able to glean the premise of their arguments. I find this reading fascinating and thought provoking. A very logical thought from the book concludes that most any of us would agree on the historical presence of George Washington, Adolph Hitler, Abraham Lincoln, insert any historical figure taught in our public school systems here, were actual living beings yet we still falter when faced with the historicity of Jesus Christ. Yet not a single one of us has met, broken bread with, shook the hand of, or received an autograph from any of our most revered or hated hi ...
Obama’s intransigence closed America’s natural wonders Ron Arnold For anyone who doubts that President Obama and his minions are choosing to make the government shutdown as painful as possible, be informed that it’s a decades-old White House ploy with a revealing name: “the Washington Monument Strategy.” It works like this: Turn visitors away from our great national memorials to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln, point on the Mall at Capitol Hill, and yell “Congress made me do it.” Then hope the public falls for it. It almost backfired Tuesday morning when a group of 92 veterans arrived at the barricaded World War II Memorial, guests of a citizen sponsored “Honor Flight” from Mississippi. A National Park Service policewoman wouldn’t let them in. A group of Republican congressmen who had come as greeters defied the NPS and shoved the barriers aside. The valiant veterans, some in wheelchairs, took the memorial like it was Iwo Jima or Normandy Beach. Park police se ...

Sir Cecil John Rhodes PC, DCL (5 July 1853 in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England– 26 March 1902 was an English-born South African businessman, mining magnate, and politician. He was the founder of the diamond company De Beers, which today markets 40% of the world's rough diamonds and at one time marketed 90%.An ardent believer in British colonialism, he was the founder of the state of Rhodesia, which was named after him. In 1964, Northern Rhodesia became the independent state of Zambia and Southern Rhodesia was thereafter known simply as Rhodesia. In 1980, Rhodesia, which had been de-facto independent since 1965, became independent from Britain and was renamed Zimbabwe. South Africa's Rhodes University is also named after Rhodes. He set up the provisions of the Rhodes Scholarship, which is funded by his estate. Historian Richard A. McFarlane has called Rhodes "as integral a participant in southern African and British imperial history as George Washington or Abraham Lincoln are in their respectiv ...
The "history teacher" in me came across this "bit of American History". Trouble is, many people would believe this to be true...this manure never made it to my classroom. This is NOT funny: ""In 1775, Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams set sail across the Delaware River to tell the King of England they had enough of his liberal agenda. King James called Napoleon and together they decided to kill America. They sent the Nina, the Piñata and the Santa Maria to fight. But then, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln gathered an army to turn back the big government dictators. They told Paul Revere to ride his horse to Frodo to tell him to cast the ring of power into the fires of Mount Doom. But then, John Wilkes Booth showed up and killed Lincoln. But there was still hope, because Jesus appeared on the face of the Liberty Bell and he froze John Wilkes Booth in carbonite. And the liberal homosexuals sailed back to their *** countries, while Americans claimed their land and drank beer. And that's how freedom ...
I laugh when folks share quotes by Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or any of these other hypocritical white oppressive, thieving slavers that had these Great Quotes that contradicted their actions. How is a fool going to state, "We are all humans!" yet be a slaver? It's just like the hypocritical white folks today talking about, "We are all children of the same god. All human!" and then they go vote for a racist law, saying 'YES' to the deportation of Mexicans & Guatemalans. I don't admire any white 'hero'. In my opinion, there aren't any! If I want to admire anyone, I've got plenty non-whites to choose from, like Lapu-Lapu the Filipino chief that resisted the 1st Spanish. Shaka-Zulu the African that formed UNITY amongst his people. Geronimo the Native-American that fearlessly resisted the U.S. Army. Emiliano Zapata the Native-American that fought off the Spanish that invaded & colonized Mexico. Our heroes' actions met with their statements/word. White fools' actions contradicted their statements/word ...

Big crowd of geeks last night at Cullen's. We had a lot of familiar faces and many new geeks join us for all of the fun. What could be more American than going to a bar, eating a steak, drinking a beer, participating in some healthy competition, being served by beautiful cocktail waitresses, and surrounded by 47 flat screen tvs? The only thing I can think of would be to make love to a bald eagle aboard the USS Constitution at Ft. Sumter while dressed as Abraham Lincoln. As you celebrate the 4th today with friends and family, remember the sacrifices the Founding Fathers had to make to declare our independence for that evil imperialistic tyrant King George. When George Washington wrote the Declaration of Independence as he suffered through a harsh winter at Valley Forge he did it to protect our right to have pub quiz. Thomas Jefferson warned us that the red coats were coming and Alexander Hamilton wrote the national anthem, all in the name of liberty and justice for all. 1st Place 78 points OWEN *** 2 ...
David Saville Muzzey - greatest writer of US History text books: from Diane Ravitch blog... Many years ago, I found a first edition of Muzzey's An American History. I want to share with you his concluding paragraph. Set aside for the moment his omission of women and his reference to the nations vying to control "the destinies of the undeveloped races," which dates him. But what is not dated is his message. It speaks to us today, a century later: The problems of a democracy are ever changing to meet the developing needs and the unfolding ideals of the people. Our problem in America at the opening of the twentieth century is no longer that of George Washington's day,--to establish the forms and powers of a republican government; nor that of Andrew Jackson's day,--to admit to a full share in that government the sturdy manhood of the nation; nor that of Abraham Lincoln's day,--to save the life of the Union while cutting from it the cancer of slavery; nor that of William Mckinley's day,--to introduce the Unite ...
My family and I wish you a Blessed Independence Day, the safe return of your loved ones serving abroad and our sincere thanks and condolences for those who will never return. This article was sent to me and I feel compelled to share it with you. Author Unknown: When my granddaughter Megan was 8 years old and just completed 2nd grade, her mom asked her about the Fourth of July and if she knew what it was about. Megan said it was about fireworks. Pressing the issue further, it became apparent that Megan had been taught absolutely nothing about July 4th or American independence. My daughter called me and asked if I would be willing to spend some time with Megan and teach her about American independence and the history of our nation. A couple of days later, I had the opportunity to talk to Megan and ask her what they taught her in school about America. She told me that they had taught her a little about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, but mostly they taught her all about President Obama and how great h ...
Are there any fellow Deists out there? You just may be a Deist and not even know it... I am. Deists believe God exists, created and governs the universe and that God gave humans the ability to reason. Deists also reject of all religions based on books that claim to contain the revealed word of God, of all religious dogma and demagogy and reject of reports of miracles, prophecies and religious "mysteries". Deists believe that God does not meddle in the everyday lives of human beings. Praying for an "A" on a school exam does not do any good but studying more will do a better job of increasing your score. Deists do not deny that there was a person called Jesus, and praised him for his benevolent teachings, but they flatly denied his divinity. If you are a Deist, you would be in good company. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, Ethan Allen, and the 18th century economist Adam Smith were all Deists.
For Independence Day, my ranking of the Presidents (very different than any professional historian's list). There may be 14 names before I find myself thinking minuses instead of pluses: 1. George Washington – modesty and moderation as Presidential qualities!!! 2. Thomas Jefferson – vast contributions to America beyond his Presidency 3. Theodore Roosevelt – the National Parks, first regulations on corporations 4. Abraham Lincoln – I find it hard to hold a warrior in high regard, but … 5. James Madison – mixed Presidency, wonderful legacy 6. Franklin Roosevelt – did so much that all are inclined to forgive his hubris 7. John Adams – a good man, a great man, and a passable President 8. James Monroe – still honoring the principles of the Revolution 9. Jimmy Carter – a wonderful gentleman, often an ineffective President 10. John Quincy Adams – a good man confronting troubling times 11. William Howard Taft – an honorable President and an excellent Chief Justice 12. Grover Cleveland – ...
A shorter , simpler, revised version of "Independence Day"Independence Day Would slavery still exist if Abraham Lincoln had never been born? Would America have even “gained its’ independence” to end slavery if George Washington, or Paul Revere, or one of the two other men, William Dawes and Samuel Prescott, who rode with Revere that night to help announce, “The British Are Coming!” had never been born? It was three God had purposed to ride. It was not two nor one as history indicates that Paul Revere rode alone, but it took three to send out a successful call to arms. Would we have electricity or the light bulb had Thomas Edison or Benjamin Franklin not been born, and would we still be riding horse drawn carriages if Henry Ford not been born? Referring to I Cor.12:28 God “had” a calling and a purpose for every person, apostles, prophet,-“preachers”, teacher, healings-”nurses and doctor”, helps-“social worker”, governments-“elected officials”, diversities of tongues- “transl ...

DAILY DEVOTION - refresh, refocus, renew Through the Ages June 28, 2013 Friday Today’s Scripture: Psalm 19:7-8 "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes" No other book has had a greater influence on the course of history than God’s Word. Consider the testimony of greats from previous generations: • George Washington: It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. • Abraham Lincoln: I am profitably engaged in reading the Bible. Take all of this Book that you can by reason and the balance by faith, and you will live and die a better man. It is the best Book which God has given to man. • John Quincy Adams: So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respecta ...
16th President: Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865) Political Party: Republican Abraham Lincoln, aside from George Washington, is arguably our most iconic President. His wisdom and sagacity is legendary, and it served to carry our war-torn nation to a rebirth of liberty and freedom, ascending it to new heights and endless possibilities. He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky in 1809. His parents were unlanded, obscure Virginia natives who found themselves migrating to the then-western frontier of Kentucky in search of land and opportunity. Young Lincoln lived the harsh trappings of a frontiersman who struggled for living and learning. Growing up in Illinois, he worked fervently to acquire an education. Self-taught, his tenacity for knowledge and learning knew no bounds as he struggled to lead a more distinguished life than the rugged frontier could provide. He was a storekeeper, a Captain in the Black Hawk War, served eight years in the Illinois legislature, and rode the circuit court for several years. In 1858, ...
I will post some more comments and thoughts during the weekend, but I want to acknowledge that there may be a feeling of pessimism and abandonment on the part of some people who are personally involved with the Syrian Revolution: History has taught us that there have been many struggles that took years, even generations to win. Just before the British defeat at Yorktown, Virginia, the Patriot Cause was bleak and even George Washington was very downhearted about the prospects of an American victory. In the Fall of 1864, Abraham Lincoln was sure he was going to be defeated during his bid for re-election. The modern world has been on a path of freedom and liberty. Putin is on the wrong side of history. More to follow.

"The Ruler" The 2nd Guardian is the prophetic Pluto in Scorpio. Since Pluto is the slowest moving planet, this planet's effect creates a somewhat generational pack mentality that clashes with previous Pluto Generations. Which is our current global problems. A solid way to explain this is simple math. Pluto takes 246 years to come full circle to a specific sign. The last two cycles Pluto moved through Scorpio, were 1735-1747 and 1983-1995 (Generation Y). If you know your history, then you would know that the souls born during 1735-1747 would be the youth of the Revolutionary War. Adam Weishaupt would come of age and create a secret society known as the Illuminati. And future president, colonial George Washington would request a program of government spies for the U.s. Military - today known as the Secret Service (It was later modified by Abraham Lincoln). Pluto in Scorpio is ruled by strong emotions. Not only do they react according to their own emotions, but they can understand how others feel as w ...

Abraham Lincoln (One of the greatest politics/presidents/good guys we have ever known in America), George Carlin (Has a lot of real world knowledge, isn't afraid to speak his mind and would know what questions to ask), Bill Gates (The greatest self made billionaire the world will probably ever see), George Washington (One of the worlds greatest leaders, the father of America, and a military genius.), Alexander the Great (A great leader, military genius and one of the deadliest Warriors the world has ever known), Martin Luther King Jr (The father of civil rights and a teacher of pacifism and righteousness), And Jesus. lol. And if he wasn't real and I got told to pick someone else I would pick other biblical and religious figures until I found one that did exist or I finally just picked Augustus Caesar or someone of similar importance. I would drag that dinner on forever, and hopefully learn some things from these titans of history.
Remember I posted the American Romanticist Thomas Cole's Course of Empire series oil paintings? The American and Jewish histories are the similar cycle. When the country is getting blessed by God so much, people and their descendants are prosperous, some of them may finally betray the moral value and make this country decline. The American histories of George Washington to James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln to Chester A. Arthur, Grover Cleveland to Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt to Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower to Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama are like this.
Jeremy just said his 4 favorite presidents are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama, and Martin Luther King.
Hannelore Morton Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer I was not impressed by Sen. Barack Obama after the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a wholesome presidential package. It is so instinctive for most people to want to see blacks succeed. It is as if all humanity is carrying a collective guilt for what the ancestors of blacks endured. However, despite my initial interest in him, I was soon put off, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words. It is surreal to see the level of hysteria in his admirers. This phenomenon is unprecedented in American politics. Women scream and swoon during his speeches. They yell and shout to Obama, “I love you.” Never did George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt. Martin Luther King Jr. or Ronald Reagan arouse ...

A take on the middle east that makes more sense when we change Turk and Iranian/Persian to Mexican and American/European now keep in mind this is all fictional to make a point and actually has nothing to do with the U.S or Mexico. "Also Mexicans re-write American History and prove that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were all Mexicans." :Mexicans take over the US government: Azeri Turks are nationals of Iran. But are Azeri Turks who rule Iran today are natives of Iran? The debate about who is Iranian is not very familiar to people from other countries and they do not really understand what is debated. Therefore I am going to place it in an American context so they understand what we are talking about. Azeri Turks are Iranian nationals. But who is really Iranian with Iranian culture and traditions? This is what this debate is about. Assume Mexicans take over Washington D.C. and the US government. On assuming power in US, Mexicans order all TV stations to stop showing the pictures of European American ...

John Locke, George Washington, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, & Charles Darwin were deists.
George Washington, Abraham Lincoln , Ben Franklin , Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson and William Mckinley are my favorite white people
I need therapy. My best friends always seem to leave me: Benjamin Franklin, Ulysses S. Grant, Andrew Jackson, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Sometimes they come back but then they leave again. :-(

I think back on this election. We really had a choice did we not. A nonAmerican TYRANT and a cult member. Where is the next George Washington, the next Andrew Jackson, the next Abraham Lincoln, the next Teddy Roosevelt, the next FDR,the next Harry S. Truman, the next JFK(why anyone thought they could compare Cigar Clinton is beyond me), the next Nixon and Reagan. Honestly all the senators, congressmen and governors out there now fail to impress me. There are a few Jan Brewer is one. Maybe a few more. The majority are a joke who are owned by a lot of special interests groups. At least Dictator Obama aspired to be something, even if means destroying a free America and he does mean to destroy a free America. He is doing it everyday and we are allowing it
MODERN HISTORIANS, ARTISANS, AND A NUMBER OF EVENT COORDINATORS are of the opinion that we should not ever mention either politics or religion in 'mixed' company. They are of the similar opinion that we should not bring up the past, 'those' politics, and 'that' era in our discussions. These are in fact the rules of 'engagement' upon most chat sites today. Permitted speech should be limited to the battles, who won them and who lost them, and why... or else the 'accepted' rhetoric of the history lessons that 'we all know' to be 'true'. Fictions such as George Washington and the Cherry Tree, or Abraham Lincoln as The Great Emancipator are usually accepted, albeit with the same tolerance as The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. What is NEVER accepted is any form of Revisionist History, nor any hard look at going contrary to the ACCEPTED ideas of the past. And the reason that is this, apparently, is because it will 'provoke' the serious discussion of the war by way of 'fighting the Civil War all over again'... Now ...
Who was the third President of The United States of America? a) Thomas Jefferson b) John Adams c) Abraham Lincoln d) George Washington
QUOTE OF THE DAY: On this day in 1842, 33-year old Abraham Lincoln addressed the Springfield Temperance Society in a speech marKing George Washington's birthday. He said: "This is the one hundred and tenth anniversary of the birthday of Washington. We are met to celebrate this day. Washington is the mightiest name of earth — long since mightiest in the cause of civil liberty; still mightiest in moral reformation. On that name, an eulogy is expected. It cannot be. To add brightness to the sun, or glory to the name of Washington, is alike impossible. Let none attempt it. In solemn awe pronounce the name, and in its naked deathless splendor, leave it shining on." (hat tip: Newt and Callista Gingrich)
A little month with a big impact . . . For February 23, 2013 POSITIVE PERSPECTIVE By Ron McClung For such a small month, February has many significant days. Valentine’s Day is one of the most notable, when lovers take the opportunity to express their affection through flowers, candy, hearts, and warm expressions. Presidents Day also occurs in February. Two of our most renowned chief executives were born this month – Abraham Lincoln on the 12th and George Washington on the 22nd. Two other presidents were born in February – William Henry Harrison on the 9th and Ronald Reagan on the 6th. Of course, Groundhog Day ushers in the month every year, arriving on the second day. Supposedly, if the groundhog sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of winter. Someone may have neglected to tell the groundhog that, shadow or not, it is about six more weeks until the beginning of spring around March 21. In our family, February is also significant as a birthday month. In fact, three members shared the same birth dat ...
The real choice facing America in the 21st century is the same one that faced it in the 19th and 20th centuries, Northernomics or Southernomics?   Northernomics is the high-road strategy of building a flourishing national economy by means of government-business cooperation and government investment in R&D, infrastructure and education.  Although this program of Hamiltonianism (named after Washington’s first Treasury secretary, Alexander Hamilton) has been championed by maverick Southerners as prominent as George Washington, Henry Clay and Abraham Lincoln (born in Kentucky to a Southern family), the building of a modern, high-tech, high-wage economy has been supported chiefly by political parties based in New England and the Midwest, from the Federalists and the Whigs through the Lincoln Republicans and today’s Northern Democrats.   Southernomics is radically different.  The purpose of the age-old economic development strategy of the Southern states has never been to allow them to compete with othe ...
Fact of the Day: 4 Presidents, George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan all have February birthdays.
The Republicons, Tea Party hijack the Christian Religion . Like Hitler to kill all the JEWS. Hitler also hates the Homosexual and *** He killed all of them. In 1894 this amendment never left the hall of congress. “Acknowledging that the Constitution recognize God and Jesus Christ as the supreme authorities in human affairs “. Library of congress. Christianity neither is, nor ever was, a part of the common law." Thomas Jefferson "There is not one redeeming feature in our superstition of Christianity. It has made one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites." ~Thomas Jefferson "The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity." ~John Adams • "The United States is in no way founded on the Christian Religion." George Washington "The Bible is not my Book and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long complicated statements of Christian dogma." — Abraham Lincoln, in a letter to a friend "The National Government will regard it ...
THE STOIC Of the two greatest figures in American political history, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln is the more lovable. This is because he is more Christ-like: four years on the cross of the Civil War, and then shot by the assassin on – of all days – Good Friday. As Christ died for our sins, so Lincoln, we cannot help but feel, died in atonement for our great national sin of slavery. But Washington is the more admirable of the two. He, more than any other figure of modern times, embodied the Stoic ideal of the Sage, the wise man who spends his life, not pursuing personal satisfaction, but doing his duty according to the eternal law of God and Nature and Reason. His career would have been approved of by Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius. It would also have been approved of by Scipio Africanus and the other great men of the Roman Republic, for Washington was also an embodiment of the Roman ideal of absolute patriotism. In Washington the best ideals of classical antiquity lived again af ...
Finna go watch Kolton in the History parade this morning. He is dressing up like Abraham Lincoln, and giving a report on Honest Abe. Karson didn't want to get up in front everybody, so he just wrote his report. He did his on George Washington. He is sooo shy, when it comes to stuff like that !! Kolton texted me last night to make sure I was gonna be there, and I told him I wouldn't miss it for the world !!!
Just the facts!!! Abraham Lincoln, who invented a hydraulic device for lifting ships over shoals, was the only US president ever granted a patent. According to the Gemological Institute of America, up until the 1730's, India was the only source for diamonds in the world. Antarctica is the only continent without reptiles or snakes. Australia is the only country that is also a continent. Baskin Robbins once made ketchup Ice Cream. This was the only vegetable flavored Ice Cream produced. Bats are the only mammal that can fly. Bats have only one baby a year. Elvis Presley made only one television commercial - an ad for "Southern Maid Doughnuts" that ran in 1954. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only US president elected four times. George Washington is the only man whose birthday is a legal holiday in every state of the United States. Gerald Ford was the only US president not to have been elected to either the presidency or the vice presidency. Giraffes are the only animals born with horns. Both males and female ...
President's Day yesterday. To celebrate American History, here are some quotes from former American Presidents: "Indian's and wolves are both beasts of prey, tho' they differ in shape." George Washington "If ever we are constrained to lift the hatchet against any tribe, we will never lay it down till that tribe is exterminated, or driven beyond the Mississippi… in war, they will kill some of us; we shall destroy them all." Thomas Jefferson "Ordered that of the Indians and Half-breeds sentenced to be hanged by the military commission, composed of Colonel Crooks, Lt. Colonel Marshall, Captain Grant, Captain Bailey, and Lieutenant Olin, and lately sitting in Minnesota, you cause to be executed on Friday the nineteenth day of December, instant, the following names, to wit… " Text from President Lincoln to General Sibley ordering the execution of American Indians in Minnesota. Thanks to everyone who had a part in this special, special night!!!
In honor of yesterday's national holiday, here are your presidential facts of the day; Abraham Lincoln had an awful, scratchy voice some say Lyndon B. Johnson would take guests at his ranch in Texas on drives around the grounds and purposefully crash the car in lakes or rivers and pretend the brakes were out to freak the passengers out. The kicker? It was a special car made to go on land and water George Washington never actually chopped down his father's Cherry Tree 8 of our 44 presidents have died in office, of those, 4 have been shot, 1 died of pneumonia, 1 of a stomach condition, 1 of an aneurism, and 1 died of a heart attack FDR was on a small medicinal dose of cocaine when he gave his "December 7th" speech before Congress George W. Bush wasn't born in Texas like many people think, but New Haven Connecticut William Howard Taft was so large that he got stuck in the bath tub and servants had to use butter to get him out In the 1940's, Ronald Reagan was a secret FBI informant who would pass on names of ...
More Presidential Facts...(Since I accidentally. hit the Post button somehow?) President Grover Cleveland was a draft dodger. He had become independently wealthy before entering politics.President John Tyler had fifteen children.Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln, was present at the assassinations of three presidents: his father's, President Garfield's, and President McKinley's. WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following message commemorating Presidents Day: “For more than two centuries, Americans have celebrated the birthday of our First President, George Washington, and on Presidents Day we also commemorate the legacy of our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Washington earned his place in history as the father of our country, and Lincoln earned his for saving our union. Our country owes so much to these two remarkable individuals.
Baked a berry cobbler with a crust of different shaped men representing some well-known presidents: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, JFK, etc. Bobby liked it. We also drank juice out of this vintage ceramic presidents pitcher I have, and watched some Schoolhouse Rock on American History ... Looking forward to reading books and playing with Lincoln Logs later tonight. Enjoying a Happy "educational" Presidents Day. ;-)
Happy President's Day! (In the US, anyhow. Sorry.) On this day we Americans think about and celebrate our Presidents (well, or we're supposed to, I suppose)... but we don't celebrate all of them. For instance, you likely know that Obama is the first black president, but did you know about the first woman president? What do you mean, you didn't know there was one? For 100 points, what's the name of the woman who many presidential scholars now believe acted (unofficially, of course) as president for roughly a year and a half due to the /actual/ president's (secret) poor health? BONUS: The holiday is meant to celebrate George Washington's birthday, actually, but after it was set to lang on a Monday instead, it ended up landing between that and Abraham Lincoln's birthday (though never actually on either). What are the dates (years not necessary, just months and days is fine) of Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, respectively? Fun Fact: Let's do one for the Challengers outside the US, shall we? If you live ...
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were sick, vicious slave owners...If you celebrate them or see them as great, you're just as sick.. Abraham Lincoln did a mass hanging of Native Americans on this day.. He was sick dehumanizing man.. I don't care what Steven Spielberg depicts in his movie.Today they're trying to include Ronald Reagan in Presidents Day celebration... Ronald Reagan stood in the way of dismantling Apartheid in South Africa... Its a *** shame President Obama evokes his name as someone great..
On President’s Day we honor the contributions of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as our greatest presidents. I add Ronald Reagan to that list. It is a national holiday. Our country has never been in need of another great president more than it is today. Everything that Washington fought for, Lincoln died for, and Reagan protected and preserved is under attack by the very person in the very office that we celebrate. There is no celebration for our current president, except within the circle of his fanatic followers and thoroughly deceived media. It will take a national spiritual awakening to provide the paradigm shift that we need for the future of this country to be properly represented by our past. America is dead as far as our Christian Heritage is concerned. We no longer have a Christian consensus. Although over 90% of the population believes in God, and 67% claim to embrace the Christian faith, according to the Barna Group of Ventura, California, only 17% of the population attends churc ...
Fun President's day fact, George Washington visited Worcester, MA twice, the first time was in 1775, when he had taken command of the Continental Army in Boston. Other Presidents who have been in Worcester included John Adams and Abraham Lincoln.
Americans love to rank things. So lists of the best presidents in American History frequently allow historians to duke it out over whether George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or Franklin Delano Roosevelt should be remembered as our nation’s greatest leader. Meanwhile, recently departed President Geor...
Well, today is "Presidents" Day. We no longer celebrate the birthday of George Washington or Abraham Lincoln. The "Presidents' day idea was launched by Richard M. Nixon, so he could, in future generations, link his failed presidency and policies with those of Washington, Lincoln. Nixon's idea was, "Why do we celebrate only two Presidencies? Shouldn't we celebrate them all?" So, whose Presidency should we celebrate? Millard Filmore? James Buchannan? Andrew Johnson? My favorite is Warren G. Harding.
"We had heroes in those days. Among them were George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Their birthdays in February were holidays. There was none of this so-called Presidents' Day, which simply affords a day off to go to the mall without any thought whatever of Great Leaders who have preceded us. In our public school we were taught honesty through the examples of these men. We learned love of country. We learned respect for the flag. We learned the meaning of citizenship. We learned respect for our principal and our teachers and our parents. We learned respect for one another." ~ Gordon B. Hinckley [DPGBH1:561-562]
Happy President's Day! Created to commemorate the births of former presidents George Washington (Feb. 22) and Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12), Presidents' Day is often observed by taking advantage of low prices and forgetting until the afternoon that there is no mail delivery. But some people, recalling the famous story of Washington and the Cherry Tree, like to bake a cherry pie to celebrate. Or perhaps you read George Washington's Farewell Address or Lincoln's Gettysburg Address to mark the occasion. What are your plans for the day?
Today the nation celebrates Presidents Day. The national observance is intended (for some) to honor all the American Presidents, but most significantly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Comment now and tell us who your favorite president is and why.

OK folks, Monday February 18, 2013 is not Presidents' Day, but is Washington's Birthday Observance. SO Happy Birthday George Washington. There was some talk when Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act signed by LBJ in 1968 and took effect on January 1, 1971 to honor both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln so the day ends up being between the two actual birthdays, and never on either one. However those ideas never got out of committee. The Presidents' Day moniker was a Madison Avenue creation, and never officially passed by any National legislation or Executive Order.
I still dont understand why I have school tomorrow, George Washington, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant would not be pleased
Okay, let's see if I boiled this down to the correct essentials. Putting aside anything religious for the moment, and mostly (but not always) emphasizing the English-speaking world, the most indispensable individuals whose lives and works are worth exploring are Plato, Aristotle, Baroque music, Mozart, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Winston Churchill. Leaving aside Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher for the moment, who have I left out? Remember, anybody you mention has to be not just very good or even great, but the best of the best.
We're about to open the cash drawing period! Spend $50 and draw for "presidents!!" Benjamin Franklin, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington!!
The Presidents' Dogs - interesting read from TBI The Presidents' Dogs We're not going to include all the Presidents' dogs, but here are some of the buddies that helped to keep our Commanders-in-Chief sane and grounded over the history of our country. George Washington and the American Foxhound America's First President was not only the father of his country but also the father of the American foxhound. He carefully bred and maintained his dogs, listing more than 30 hounds in his journals, including ones named Drunkard, Tipler and Tipsy. Abraham Lincoln and Fido This floppy-eared rough-coated dog of unknown ancestry lived with Lincoln in Springfield, Ill., for the five years before he became President. Upon his election, Lincoln decided that the dog would not survive the trip to Washington and, despite the objections of his son Tad, left Fido in Illinois. When Lincoln's body was returned to Springfield, Fido was brought out to meet the mourners. Warren G. Harding & Laddie Boy The 29th President not only ga ...
