By Mail Today Bureau New Delhi: Akhilesh government claims that Capital is emptying its 18 drains into the Yamuna which pollutes Ganga further AFTER the trouble over power supply, the prospect of a water crisis looms large over the National Capital as the Uttar Pradesh government has threatened to cut supply to Delhi, claiming the sewerage the city daily pumps into the Yamuna is polluting the Ganga. The news come at a time when the Arvind Kejriwal- led Aam Aadmi Party government is already facing the battle on the power front as it has put the power discoms on notice for ensuring uninterrupted supply in Delhi. Also, the threat from the neighbouring state will put pressure on the Kejriwal governments plan to provide free 700 litres of water to every household in Delhi. Interestingly, the letter comes close on the heels of Kejriwal mentioning Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav a list of corrupt politicians. UP issues notice Singh said the Uttar Pradesh government has issued a notice to Delhi on Feb ...
We will perform, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal says - The Times of India
Modi vs. Kejriwal? Don’t laugh The Aam Aadmi Party strategist Yogendra Yadav must be day dreaming when he says that the AAP will project its leader Arvind Kejriwal as the Prime Ministerial candidate and the fight will be between BJP’s Narendra Modi and Kejriwal. Yadav came to prominence when NDTV’s Prannoy Roy hosted him as a psephologist in the mid 90s. Interestingly till 2010, he was the political advisor to Rahul Gandhi when he plunged into Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption. He later joined hands with Kejriwal to form the Aam Aadmi Party. Nobody will find fault with him if he wants to project Kejriwal as the next Prime Minister of India. Every Indian has the right to dream of becoming the Prime Minister of India like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Jayalalitha or a Mamata Banerji. In the nitty gritty of Indian politics may be they can become PMs too like Choudhury Charan Singh, Chandra Shekhar or HD Deve Gowda. Thus there is nothing wrong in dreaming. However, the question here is Y ...
Hurt by Anna Hazare's video: Arvind Kejriwal New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that he was saddened by the release of a video footage in which Anna Hazare was seen purportedly questioning the use of India Against Corruption funds for political purpose by Aam Aadmi Party. "BJP and Congress are trying to create differences between us and Annaji," Arvind Kejriwal told mediapersons in Delhi on Wednesday. On the question that AAP was using Anna Hazare's name for political gains in Delhi Assembly elections, Kejriwal said that "We have not used Anna's photo for our campaigns." It seems that other political parties are spreading lies, Kejriwal added. When asked that why AAP is saying that it will pass Anna Hazare's Jan Lokpal Bill once it comes to power in Delhi, Kejriwal replied that if Anna thinks his name should not be used before Jan Lokpal Bill, then AAP will not do so. "It is sad that some people are misleading Anna Hazare," Kejriwal said. "We have heard that fresh revelations about AAP members M ...
And you thought that our media is independent ! And that the propaganda they carry out against Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party, day in and day out, including the tone of the news casters & presenters; is journalism and is not for any ulterior motive ! Mukesh Ambani once said, ( refer Neera Radia tapes) " Congress to humara dookan hai !" And in the Vibrant Gujarat programme, he openly backed Narendra Modi to be the next Prime Minister of India ! There is only one group who are against him ! The group who had exposed his controls over both Congress & BJP, and also exposed his black money dealing through HSBC ! That group at that time was known as 'India Against Corruption' and later became the Aam Aadmi Party ! Naturally, the Ambani brothers will not be too happy with Arvind Kejriwal and his party, and will try their best to destroy their credibility to the people !
Kejriwal supports Khaps: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal said he would not ban khaps panchayats because they had a cultural purpose despite their harsh treatment of women. Many people who voted for Kejriwal in the Delhi Assembly polls, have done so in hope that his brand of politics would include a strong agenda for women's empowerment. But his stand on khaps is in contrast with that of some women's groups who want them dismantled. "No, it is not a question of banning these panchayats," Kejriwal told Thomson Reuters Foundation, referring to khap Panchayats, the name given to village councils in rural North India. "Khap Panchayats are a group of people who come together. There is no bar on people to assemble in this country … (But) whenever they take a wrong decision, whenever they take an illegal decision, they ought to be punished."
AAP leaders pathological liars: Arun Jaitley Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Tuesday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are "pathological liars". "The AAP leaders are pathological liars. They are more comfortable in sitting on dharnas instead of running the government," said Jaitley. "The AAP does not know how to govern a state. It is something foreign to them," he said. AAP workers on Tuesday protested outside Jaitley's residence at Kailash Colony here demanding his apology over bribery allegations against his party. Though the protests were peaceful, heavy security arrangements were made outside Jaitley's house. Meanwhile, BJP activists under the leadership of party Vice President Smriti Irani also began counter-protests against the AAP. AAP MLA Madan Lal on Monday accused the BJP of offering him Rs. 20 crore to opt out of his party and pull down the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi. Madan Lal alleged that he had been approached by men close to BJP leaders Narendra Modi ...
Power promise to power shock After their promise on reducing electricity tariff charged them to power, the Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a tremendous setback. The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) hiked power tariffs by up to 8 per cent, citing a financial crunch preventing it from fulfilling the AAP's ambitious promise. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has hit back at the regulatory body, even threatening to cancel their licenses.

Delhi HC slams Arvind Kejriwal govt over poor state of night shelters. Zee Media Bureau New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday slammed the Arvind Kejriwal government over lack of arrangements to prevent cold related deaths in the National Capital and sought its reply in four weeks. According to reports, the High Court expressed its displeasure on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's attitude and for its failure to conduct regular meetings with various agencies to improve shelter homes in the capital. The state government, on its turn, said that it is in talk with Delhi Police for better coordination and assured that all steps are being taken to help shelter-less people. Taking a dig at the Kejriwal government, Delhi BJP leader Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “We have written to the Delhi Govt about shelter-less people dying in cold. They haven’t worked to do something about it for over a month.” The observation was made by a bench headed by Delhi High Court Chief Justice NV Ramana. The High Court had ea ...
AAP an international conspiracy against India It is not Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is being portrayed as the party of Common Man but actually, it’s an international conspiracy hatched by anti-Indian forces within and outside the country. People like Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar, Yogendra Yadav, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Shazia Ilmi, Gopal Rai and Dilip Pandey are Indians but only in name. Who is not aware of their pro-Maoists and pro-radical Islamist credentials? Who is not aware of Medha Patkar credentials and those who constituted the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) and the essentially subversive and anti-system National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) of which Patkar is an integral and crucial part? Similarly, Kamal A Mitra Chenoy, had been exposed by the writer and rendered clueless in the Jawaharlal Nehru University in a well-attended international seminar more than a decade ago. Others of his ilk, who are in the process of openly making common . ...
It’s clear now. The 2014 elections will be a rout for Congress-led UPA. As Narendra Modi confirmed in his Delhi speech, even Sonia Gandhi is hesitating to put Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate. Everyone knows that they would lose badly, and hence the reluctance. So, if you are not voting for super corrupt Congress or its corrupt allies, whom will you vote for? Narendra Modi-led BJP? Opportunistic Third Front, with more leaders than seats? Or the new entrant, the “super clean” Aam Aadmi Party? There is no need to elaborate on the Congress. Everyone is aware of UPA’s mega scams. There’s no need to write on the so called Third or Fourth Fronts. They are just opportunists with no chance at the Centre. But media tells you that AAP-led by Arvind Kejriwal is a great option. Is it? Let’s examine. Fighting against corruption is a great idea. But what does the AAP stands for? Has AAP kept any of its word so far? ‘Anarchist’ Kejriwal replaces democracy with mobocracy U-Turns (now calle ...

GANDHINAGAR: It seems Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has finally realized that more than any other politician, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has the potential to ruin his chances of becoming the country's Prime Minister. Sources in Modi's core strategy team said that the Chief Minister is now seriously focusing on 'strategizing afresh' for his 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign. This comes immediately after AAP staked claim to having made over 1.25 lakh members across Gujarat in 10 days. Their membership drive was launched on January 1. AAP state convener Sukhdev Patel on Friday claimed that 5,000 members from the city enrolled with the party on a single day. Sources said that leaders of Delhi unit of BJP, members of the Citizen for Accountable Governance (CAG), and other highly qualified young professionals roped in by Modi last year, met the Gujarat Chief Minister recently. "Even senior BJP leader of Delhi, Dr Harsh Vardhan, rushed to Gandhinagar last week at short notice and had a lon ...

The Aam Aadmi Party and talks about next Lok Sabha elections seem to be hogging the limelight when it comes to discussions around India at the World Economic Forum's annual talk-fest of the rich and famous from across the globe. While not many are willing to go on record with their take on 'India's newest political phenomenon' -- Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party -- and its potential impact on the upcoming General Elections, almost every foreign leader is quizzing their Indian counterparts about these issues. Some Indian leaders have dismissed AAP's emergence calling it a Delhi-centric development and saying such authoritarian and mob-based politics has no place in the Indian democracy. Still, they admit that AAP has caught the imagination of people in India and it cannot be wished away as it is making the right noises about the need to improve governance. While trying to convince foreign investors about the continuity of the Indian growth story, the Indian leaders are also facing tough questions here a ...
TEN things about Then and Now... Outrage is important in public life; it arouses emotion and instinct. But it has its place. Anger is not oxygen. It works best in bursts, you cannot live by it. It is therefore difficult to serve by rant. Service, or governance if you will, is by its very nature calm. It is a grind, a ritual. It works best by thought. You need a large heart to be a good administrator. You must have a long term view. Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party [AAP] are full of energy and ambition. They will not rest. They will not settle down until they have reached where they wish to. But politics changes everything and everyone. The AAP that won the Delhi election is not the AAP that laid siege at Rail Bhavan. Here is how they have changed. ONE: Then, they inconvenienced the parties. The AAP and its ideological mentor Anna Hazare got under the skins of the established political outfits. They forced the Congress and the BJP to take note. Kejriwal and his friends made the older parties suffer ...
UPA's controversial minister Sushil Shinde has triggered a fresh storm with a dig at Arvind Kejriwal. While lashing out at AAP, Shinde called Kejriwal a 'mad Chief Minister'. The Aam Aadmi Party has hit back, saying that they are here to change politics, even if it means being mad! Should the Home Minister apologise for his comment?
He's under fire from all quarters but Aam Aadmi Party puts all its weight behind him and backs Somanth Bharti's claims of illegal activity in the raided area. As Trouble mounts for Bharti after Ugandan midnight raid victim names the Law Minister, should Arvind Kejriwal act against his blundering Law Minister now?
The National Capital, yet again, is witnessing activism on streets and this time, by none other than its recently chosen Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. A determined Arvind Kejriwal has refused to budge and lashed out at the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Despite criticism, Aam Aadmi Party said that they will continue their Dharna as per plan. Meanwhile, all four metro stations near north block continue to remain shut
AAP effect in Maharashtra: Power tariffs cut throughout Maharashtra, except Mumbai The Maharashtra government has cut power tariff by 20 per cent throughout the state except in Mumbai. Last Monday, hundreds of Congress workers led by Mumbai MPs Sanjay Nirupam and Priya Dutt protested outside the Kandivali West office of Reliance Energy, the Anil Ambani-owned power company that provides electricity in their constituencies. Mr Nirupam, the Lok Sabha MP from the Mumbai North constituency and Ms Dutt who represents the North West constituency in Mumbai, have been demanding a reduction in electricity tariffs like the one announced by the new Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi. Their party, the Congress, leads a coalition government in Maharashtra. Mr Nirupam had written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan last month threatening a mass agitation if electricity rates were not cut. In his strongly-worded letter, the Lok Sabha MP had repeatedly referred to AAP's measures to reign in power rates in Del ...
An Open Letter to AAP’s Yogendra Yadav on Our COMMON Ideology Dear Mr Yogendra Yadav I happened to read your excellent interview published in Mint last week. Of particular interest to me was the question, “What is the ideology of AAP?” I can’t think of anyone better than you to articulate an understandable response to this question. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that both Centre for Civil Society (CCS), an organisation I work for and admire very much and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have very similar ideologies. I could easily identify at least three main common principles to support my claim. In your own words, The first principle being Swaraj itself. By Swaraj, we mean that in democracy, power has been alienated from the people. While it is called democracy, people wield very little power. So, our fundamental concern is, we want to return that power back to the people by devolving the power, by ensuring direct participation of the people, by doing decision making closer to the people ...
Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, is the man of the moment in Indian politics, reports the BBC's Andrew North.
. No raj, only dharna: Why AAP is headed for political suicide . by Lakshmi Chaudhry "It is difficult to prioritize what is the most nauseating part of the whole sordid drama — the action itself, the manner in which the vigilante operation was conducted, the attempt to bypass the law with a show of goondaism, or Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to back the protest and demand suspension of the policemen, in effect for the temerity of standing up to the rampaging minister," writes Santosh Desai in an incisive column on what is Aam Aadmi Party's single biggest political blunder. In one fell swoop -- or in this case, a late night raid -- Somnath Bharti has demolished, in great part, the vast reservoir of goodwill the party enjoyed and relied upon. But to do so, as Desai observes, he needed and received the assistance of first Manish Sisodia -- who held the single most politically tone deaf presser in recent memory -- and then Kejriwal who has doubled down on his minister's vigilantism, making it an excuse for a ...

AAP is not going to destroy India (article by MVJKL member Harbir Singh Nain) Sadanand Dhume's article ‘The candidate who won’t save India’ in the Wall Street Journal expressed understandable concerns; the position taken by India’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on FDI in retail is indeed worrying to those who understand that economic prosperity is essential for social dignity and justice and can only come from efficient free trade. This worry, while legitimate and something the AAP has to address, is misplaced. The AAP and its leader Mr. Arvind Kejriwal are not out to destroy the economy. Far from being an anti-business welfare statist, as his critics have charged, Mr. Kejriwal’s position is a libertarian one: He envisions a roll back of the concentration of power and decision-making placed by the Indian National Congress (or simply Congress) in government hands with the centralized-planning system, which has turned elected officials into rent collectors from business. Many companies conduct their trade ...
Aam Aadmi Party's Laxmi Nagar MLA, Vinod Kumar Binny, 'exposed' Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today morning. Highlights of his press conference... 1. The Aam Aadmi Party has broken the promises which it made to the people before election. 2. Up to 700 litres of free water was promised. But after elections cleverly a clause included; the government said whoever exceeds the limit, even by 1 litre, will have to pay entire amount. 3. The manifesto clearly said power tariff will be cut by 50 per cent. 10 lakh, 52 thousand people followed Arvind's disobedience and did not pay their bills. They were promised bills would be waived off. That promise wasn't kept either. 4. AAP came into power on December 28. Today it has been 19 days. According to their promise, the Jan Lokpal should have been executed. 5. If any other government was in power, AAP would have protested Danish woman gang-rape. You should be ashamed. You said you would make a commando force, you haven't even started discussing it. 6. AAP is always hu ...

RIFT WITHIN AAP: Differences in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came out in the open on Wednesday with party MLA Vinod Kumar Binny accusing the Delhi Government of deviating from its principles and poll promises and calling Arvind Kejriwal a “liar”.
Coming out openly against the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, former cop Kiran Bedi on Monday said a vote for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is like a vote for the Congress.
'A perceptive article from India Today..' The Aam Aadmi Party awakening If a litmus test was needed for the impact of the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party's victory in Delhi, it can be found in how political leaders across the land are now falling over each other to show that they're 'somewhat common' too. For once in Indian politics, it has become fashionable to be ordinary. Ba adab, ba mulhaiza, hoshiyar. Zill-e-ilahi, Shahenshah-e-Hind, raunaq afroz *** rahe hain! (Be respectful, be mindful, be careful. His Royal Highness, the Emperor of India, is gracing us with his presence.) More than half a decade after the abolition of princely states, Indian politics still functions as an oligarchy, where amplified credentials, size of bungalow, nature of security detail, and length of cavalcade demarcate the ruler from the ruled. On a lazy afternoon in Lucknow on January 4, therefore, bystanders were nonplussed when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav drove past them with only four cars in tow. Yadav' ...

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his party would pass its Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days of forming the government in Delhi.
Team Cong's Plan AAP to counter Modi. New Delhi: IT IS politically intriguing that Arvind Kejriwal- led Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) would be backed by the Congress to form government in Delhi. The last thing Kejriwal would have expected was any kind of support from the same party he had vanquished at the hustings. So why was the Congress so magnanimous? It seems the Congress poll strategists have realised that the party is to face massive debacle in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. With that bleak picture in mind, all that the Congress folks can do is to minimise the victory margin of its principal adversary and BJPs Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi. For Congress, propping up AAP serves that game plan. The Congress ploy to promote a foe to counter the principal rival is nothing new. In Maharashtra, for example, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) made inroads into BJP- Shiv Sena bastions and the saffron alliance lost 10 Lok Sabha seats to Raj Thackeray- led party in the 2009 General Elections. Inte ...
Why Arvind Kejriwal is good for India. Arvind Kejriwal is a much maligned man, which is surprising given that he's pulled off one the most improbable and unexpected victories in a long while. His methods are unconventional. Whoever heard of asking voters before taking a rival’s support? Can we really cut electricity bills by 50%? I don’t know. If we can have one of the lowest telecom tariff structures in the world here (driven largely by govt intervention), I guess it’s theoretically possible to lower electricity bills through govt. intervention. Unless we give it a try, we won’t really know. I’m not sure if people will be better off if Aam Aadmi Party succeeds. But I’m pretty sure that people will be worse off if AAP fails. Here’s why. Arvind Kejriwal’s success is not interesting because of his Direct Democracy model. It’s interesting because he has proved that ANYONE can win elections and you don’t need a huge amount of money to pull it off. That’s a POWERFUL thing to demonstrate i ...

(3) Realty News - 10/01/14 Arvind Kejriwal's AAP wants crack down against nexus in real estate Source : The Financial Express Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that 'criminal' collusion between politicians, bureaucrats and builders was one of the major causes behind the collapse last week of the under-construction building in Canacona, which claimed 24 lives. Demanding an audit by state government of ongoing projects along with the setting up of a Judicial Commission to hold a probe into the mishap, AAP said that, "The criminal politician-builder-bureaucrat nexus, cutting across party lines, permits structures to come up in flagrant violation of environmental norms and building regulations." In a statement here today, AAP national executive member Dinesh Vaghela also alleged that, in connivance with government officials, local politicians had permitted "land sharks to brazenly flout green rules, thus affecting the ecological balance". "Aam Aadmi Party Goa echoes the voices and pain of ...

The anti-corruption helpline of the Delhi government got off to a roaring start on Thursday, the first days of its operation – 3,904 calls, of which 53 were of serious nature. To begin with only 10 employees were deployed to attend to the calls but with the inflow of calls too heavy and the number was increased to 15. The number will go up to 30 by Friday. Out of the 53 complaints of serious nature, 15 complaina ...

Even though the results of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not quite meet the results projected by the party, they have been universally acknowledged as the hero of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections 2013. Though the BJP led the tally of seats, the voting percentage they secured actually declined from the last election. The Congress party was reduced to single digit numbers with the sitting Chief Minister Sheila Dixit suffering defeat in her own constituency at the hands of Arvind Kejriwal, who called himself a start-up politician. The man himself credits the success of the AAP to an enlightened electorate exercising their franchise in selecting the first real alternative they had after 40 years when in 1977 the country voted out the Congress after the Emergency. He credits the victory to the months of unpaid work contributed by the many thousands of volunteers who came from all over the world and different parts of the country to run the campaign. Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas on Monday said a team of doctors are monitoring Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is down with fever and diarrhea, and added that the latter is working from home and is in touch with government officials.
What I like about Aam Aadmi Party and what Bharatiya Janata Party , Indian National Congress and other parties ignored is no focus on details which can be highlighted to showcase concern to Mango Man ... Take for instance: Real cost of elections is huge. No one can deny it. Everyone knows how funding is availed by political parties. But, BJP, COngress and others chose to just show it as cash donations - giving room for suspicions of corruption. Arvind Kejriwal being a former IT officer, did things smartly. Arvind Kejriwal: Behind soft exterior a man of steel (Profile) By M.R. Narayan Swamy and Prashant Sood New Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) For years he championed the cause of the marginalised and fought for the rights of the voiceless, as he took up issues from transparency to corruption, but was not much known to the people of India. Arvind Kejriwal, whose fluent articulation of the cause and his motivated attitude catapulted him to fame when Anna Hazare fasted here for 12 days in 2011, Saturday became Delhi's seventh - and youngest - Chief Minister. Behind the meteoric rise of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that crushed the Congress and denied a victory to the BJP in Delhi lies a man of steel with politics in his DNA, one who dramatically transformed an anti-corruption drive into a successful political party in just two years. But even as he prepares to preside over the destiny of Delhi, Kejriwal, 45, remains a lone ranger, not ready to break bread with the Congress party he bitterly attacked during the election campa ...

Having successfully run an unorthodox election campaign, full of experiments, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal is bracing for an out-of-the-box stint as Delhi's Chief Minister. The Chief Minister-designate of Delhi says he will not hang around much in the Delhi Secretariat, which houses the CM's office on its third floor. "We're here to break traditions; I will be mostly on the roads," he told HT in front of his house in Ghaziabad. "This is the time to work, fulfill people's dreams. But even after swearing-in, I want to remain as accessible as I have always been," he said. Read: Kejriwal to take oath as Delhi's CM on Dec 28, floor test by Jan 3 FOR PUBLIC MEETS "I'm looking for a small house in Delhi with a park in front for public meets," said the AAP leader who will take oath as Delhi's seventh CM on Saturday. A letter from Admiral L Ramdas Lara to Arvind Kejriwal, which captures the sentiment of thousands of AAP supporters who are not physically in Delhi today. - December 27 2013 Dear Arvind and all in AAP Delhi, I am truly sorry that I am unable to be with you all at Ram Leela Maidan on this historic day due to some unavoidable circumstances. But I will surely be with you in spirit. I would like to share an overwhelming feeling of exhilaration - similar to my emotions on Aug 15 1947, when Lord Mountbatten hauled down the Union Jack for the last time in India, to be replaced by the Tricolor - our Tiranga. I was a young boy of 14 then, full of hope and dreams, with fire in my belly, and ready to contribute all that it takes for my country and my people. Gandhiji had clearly outlined a focus for the development of India and her people. Over the years we seemed to have lost our way. We the people of India have waited several decades to witness the beginning of this second Freedom struggle. Aam Aadmi Party, under ...

Aam Aadmi Party's battering of the Congress and the emergence of Arvind Kejriwal as a beacon of political hope bear remarkable similarity to the summer of 2012 when Manohar Parrikar and the BJP took power in Goa in a near similar manner.
After turning down the security cover offered to him, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal today said no to a government bungalow that comes with his role as the Chief Minister of Delhi. For the past more than two decades, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and her two children have been enjoying world's top class security provided by the elite Special Protection Group. In these years the government of India has spent thousands of crores of rupees on this and Mrs. Gandhi is not the country's Prime Minister, she is only the chairperson of the semi-official National Advisory Council! This kind of special status afforded to a particular family does not belong in a democracy and has got to be stopped immediately.
AAP has altered Indian political discourse Give them a chance: There are no dearth of experts critical of the Aam Aadmi Party and its leaders. Much before Arvind Kejriwal could step into the Chief Minister's office, they aired views ranging from scepticism to downright condemnation. No other political party in recent history has faced such scrutiny. Let's take the extremely cynical prediction of many commentators that AAP and its top leaders are going to fail. Their criticism basically revolves round a few specious arguments; that they are inexperienced, that they have a skewed vision of the future and that they promise too much. Inexperience: When a Manmohan Singh or a Narendra Modi assumes office for the first time, few raise this question. Rahul Gandhi as a Prime Ministerial candidate is not even doubted. And what is their track record? Manmohan Singh has presided over the most scam-ridden government in independent India. Narendra Modi in no way can absolve himself of the responsibility of anti-Muslim ...
The fake Birth Certificate issued in the name of Aam Aadmi Party founder and Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal with Madurai Corporation official seal has been traced to the Government Rajaji Hospital here.
By Express News Service - New Delhi A day after refusing to accept top-level security once he assumes office as Delhi Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday declined to accept the government bungalow for which also he would be entitled as the CM. While Kejriwal stuck to his common-man image, there were rumblings in his nascent party over the spoils of office. Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee cleared his appointment as Chief Minister and forwarded the letter of appointment to the Union Home Ministry. Kejriwal will head a six-member Cabinet, which will include Manish Sisodia, a journalist turned activist, and Rakhi Birla, a 26-year-old journalist. Others are Girish Soni, AAP MLA from Madipur, Saurabh Bharadwaj, who won from Greater Kailash, and Somnath Bharati, Malaviya Nagar MLA. Kejriwal sent the list of six ministers to Lt Governor Najib Jung. The list angered party leader Vinod Binny, who was a strong contender for a Cabinet slot. Binny was a giant-killer as he had defeat ...

BJP accuses the Aam Aadmi Party of "betraying the people of Delhi" after Arvind Kejriwal agreed to form a minority government with the Congress.
AAP set to rule Delhi, Kejriwal to be CM Aadmi Party (AAP) founder leader Arvind Kejriwal was Monday set to be Delhi's Chief Minister after announcing that his party will form a government with Congress backing. After five days of a referendum when people were asked to say 'yes' or 'no' on whether AAP should take power, Kejriwal announced that an overwhelming majority in the capital had given their thumbs up.
Best of luck to Arvind Kejriwal & his whole Aam Aadmi Party crew for going forward with forming government in Delhi with the Indian National Congress support. It was all a pre-planned political game since the very beginning. AAP has continuously abused its unconditional support from public, and conditional support from its partner Congress, but India knows by now about this unholy alliance. Whatever be the game & strategy, the rule of the house prevails - if you want to bring quick & sustainable national change, you need to come to power. So, yes, congrats AAP !

These are the lines of opening paragraph of the letter(1) from Arvind Kejriwal to Delhites where he is seeking his opinion to form government with Congress “Despite getting 32 seats, the wave of clean politics that the Aam Aadmi Party has created is compelling the BJP to avoid horse trading for power, something they have been so proficient at in the past in Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and UP.” This precisely epitomizes how Big a Fraudster and Liar Kejriwal is. He is a messiah of Lies and his entire campaigning is based on spreading Propaganda. He has been exposed many times for his lies and fraud. Time for another one. Kejriwal says that BJP did proficient horse trading in Goa, HP, Chattisgarh & UP. Here is what actually happened in these states (starting in alphabetical order) 1 Chhattisgarh – The state came into existence in November 2000 and has faced elections 3 times since then; in 2003, 2008, 2013. BJP won a comfortable majority all the 3 times. Would a government want to do horse tradi ...

PM deflates BJP's projection of Modi as strong leader press trust of india New Delhi, 18 December Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today sought to puncture BJP's projection of Narendra Modi as a strong leader, saying no one should simply talk of firm leadership without specifying for what purpose it would be used for. Mr Singh while addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party meeting here, also took an obvious dig at Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, saying those promises should not be made, which are outside the realm of possibilities. In his first major reaction after the debacle the Congress faced in the recent Assembly elections, he said that partymen should not despair ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. “Assembly elections in a few states are not necessarily an indication of what will happen in General Elections that follows some months later. We know this from the past,” he said, citing example of what had happened when NDA did well in the Assembly polls in 2003 but it was UPA that came to pow ...
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party today rejected the Lokpal Bill under consideration in Parliament, saying it was weak and will not prevent corruption, but work instead to "protect the corrupt". "This Lokpal Bill does not provide for formation of Lokayuktas, there is no provision for whistle-blower protection, and it is not free of the government," AAP member Prashant Bhushan told reporters at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. "What is the point of passing this Lokpal Bill? It will not stop corruption at all," he said, adding it would only "protect the corrupt". AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, meanwhile, said there was no independence for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). "They are not making CBI independent in this bill. If this happens, even the Prime Minister may go to jail in 2G or some other scam," he said. "This bill will be beneficial for the Congress and its Vice President Rahul Gandhi will get the credit," he added. Mr Kejriwal, newly elected to the Delhi Assembly, said the movement agains ...
the BJP has countered the 18 questions posed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by raising 14 of its own. Party leader Harsh Vardhan called the rookie party the ‘B’ team of the Congress and said that it was trying to get the former ruling party back to power by forming a government with its support. “AAP had entered into a secret understanding with the Congress government and the party even before the elections. They acted like an ally of the Congress during the elections because they had information that they were going to lose the election due to price rise and corruption. Why are AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his advisors changing their statement repeatedly and misleading the people whereas they could have made their stand clear on forming the government,” said Vardhan, HT reports
BJP Delhi Chief Ministerial candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan in his letter has asked Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal to clarify on the points raised by him.

Captain Cool and Arvind Kejriwal; Nothing official about it There is no doubt that India captain MS Dhoni has inspired millions but, according to our sources, new source of his inspiration comes from the astounding success of Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in recent elections and various strategies adopted by them for the astonishing results. On the morning of first test against South Africa, he was not surprised to see a green wicket and he knew a loss in South Africa will lead to severe criticism, so he took a leaf out of AAP’s book and gave Smith three conditions to fulfill before he (and hence BCCI) agrees to play with South Africa. Our cameraman took the liberty of stealing the phone of Smith while he was trying to give bowling lessons to Steyn in the bathroom. The phone had a PDF from Dhoni with lots of emoticons, especially the ones with eyes close and heart shaped kisses and some with one eye closed and tongue out. May be that was the reason of whole team getting serious. First condition was, as o ...
THE Aam Aadmi OF AAP Ordinary citizens created and shaped this smashing debut in Indian politics. Embedded in the success story of the Aam Aadmi Party are a multitude of personal stories of sacrifice, triumph and validation. FOR EXAMPLE 3. PANKAJ GUPTA 47 FUND RAISER After 25 years in the software industry, Pankaj Gupta quit his cushy job as the MD of a software company in Gurgaon in March 2012 to first join the India Against Corruption movement and then AAP. “Unlike many people associated with the IAC movement, I believe a change can only be brought by entering the system,” he says. “This cannot happen by creating pressure from the outside.” On August 3, 2012, Gupta messaged Arvind Kejriwal that he wanted to join the party. “Arvind replied immediately,” he says. He was given the responsibility of managing the party’s finances, but that had nothing to do with his quantitative skills. “It was just a matter of chance,” adds Gupta. “There was no one looking after this portfolio. Arvind as ...
KEJRIWAL PLAYS TO THE GALLERY, CONGRESS PLAYS TO KEJRIWAL: Kanchan Gupta | There is no merit in pandering to the pious, pompous windbags of the AAP. Delhi should be placed under President’s rule and fresh elections called at an appropriate time. No matter what Yogendra Yadav, Congress adviser *** psephologist-turned-Aam Aadmi Party leader, may say to contradict this proposition, it is clear by now that Arvind Kejriwal and his team did not quite expect to come so tantalisingly close to securing a majority in the Delhi Assembly. By the time the election campaign had come to an end there was a sense that the AAP would perform well in the poll, belying the political punditry of the usual suspects. Exit polls conducted on the day of voting served to confirm this view — while none of the pollsters got the outcome of the Delhi Assembly election right, their findings did indicate surprise results. In the event, the final tally turned conventional wisdom on its head. The BJP did emerge the winner but was four ...
Aam Aadmi Party founder leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said they have written to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi as well as BJP president Rajnath Singh, seeking their stand on specific issues pertaining to Delhi.
Founder of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal is among Foreign Policy magazine's leading Global Thinkers of 2013, a list of 100 people who have made 'measurable difference' and are 'pushing the boundaries of the possible'.
Those who have concern for the sufferings of Common Man can become the best leader to serve the country. In that respects, Aam Aadmi Party of Arvind Kejriwal succeeded in Del Assembly Elections by sweeping Congress out of power and also compelled to BJP for other doors to establish the Government. Such is the power of Common Man and this Party has also shown for an alternative to corrupt Congress and BJP leaders. Now, the Party has set the eye to enlarge their base from Delhi to other States. When it comes to Andhra Pradesh, like Kejriwal there is other man who always stood on behalf of helping the needy and poor people in our Film Industry. Yes, it is Pawan Kalyan. As per the speculations in film circles, Power Star is willing to join hands with Aam Aadmi Party if so ever Arvind Kejriwal would like to step into AP politics. This could usher the new wave of energy but we have to wait and see, whether this is going to happen or not?

Melting Pot AAP juggernaut stuns Modi ~ Arati R Jerath Shrewd politician that he is, BJP Prime Minister candidate Narendra Modi immediately spotted the message from Aam Aadmi Party's stunning performance in Delhi. His challenger in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls could well be AAP's Arvind Kejriwal, not Rahul Gandhi as widely assumed. And he quickly repositioned himself and his party accordingly. As counting day wore on to show a ding-dong battle in Delhi between AAP and BJP with the latter eventually failing to touch majority mark, saffron leaders began to downplay the Modi effect on the results. No, no, they insisted, credit should go to state leaders and their record of good governance. Yes, he did campaign in Delhi but internal problems (read Vijay Goel) proved insurmountable. In the other three states, Modi simply provided the icing on the cake, they maintained. Significantly, Modi himself kept a low profile. He cancelled the press conference he was supposed to hold when he flew into Delhi for ...
The rout of the Congress : For the Congress, the humiliation in Delhi was more crushing than the defeats elsewhere. More ignominious than the failure to win Madhya Pradesh after two successive defeats and the fall of the Congress government in Rajasthan was the party’s miserable third-place finish in Delhi. The Congress trailed way behind the Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal, which has made a sparkling debut. The close finish in Chhattisgarh was poor compensation for the total rout in the other three States. The party was left grappling with the long-term implications of having lost so much ground to the AAP in Delhi. The extraordinary rise of the AAP testified to the success of the team of activists led by Mr. Kejriwal in drawing new volunteers outside of the traditional political class who effectively channelled the sense of public disgust with mainstream parties. The four States together send 72 members to the Lok Sabha, and the Congress would now have to acknowledge that its principal rival, t ...
Arvind Kejriwal's year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made a spectacular electoral debut in Delhi and won 28 of the state's 70 seats, just four behind the BJP, which is on top. Most of the newly elected AAP members were political novices who are now being called "giant killers".
AAP's next stop could be Gurgaon. For the Aam Aadmi Party, Gurgaon could be the next perfect ground to launch its entry to Haryana, which faces assembly election in less than a year. Presence of upwardly mobile middle class, working and migrant population, poor state of infrastructure and civic amenities and widespread corruption are likely to increase AAP's acceptability in the millennium city, according to prominent civil activists of Gurgaon. On Sunday, when the Arvind Kejriwal-led party was sweeping Delhi polls couple of prominent faces from Gurgaon were batting for AAP on major TV channels. Nisha Singh, an independent councillor from DLF region, said on TV, "We are just nine months away from the assembly election. People are unhappy with the state of affairs. Gurgaon residents also want change. AAP has delivered, and it's no more an experiment." During anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare's protests at Ram Lila Ground two years ago, Gurgaon had witnessed several demonstrations and rallies. "For AAP, ...

Despite the fact that BJP has more than half of their elected reps facing criminal charges, Janta is giving sharp reaction to AAP name in the ADR report for elected MLA's having criminal case against them in Delhi Assembly. This infact is a great sign and demonstrate the level AAP has reached and raised for political parties There are three elected representatives from Aam Aadmi Party who are facing criminal charges during Anna movement, damini protest, etc. They include - Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Rajesh Garg Looking at BJP, charges include attempt to murder, roiting, armed with deadly weapon (IPC Section-148), and so on for their candidates, Shame on BJP for fielding such candidates and people who voted for such candidates
When you were discussing about IAC (India Against Corruption) party with Anna, I was feeling very excited. But IAC was never formed cause Anna didn't want to go in politics. It really made me sad, cause India really needed an anti criminal party. In nov 2012 when you started AAP (Aam Aadmi Party), I thought, you must convince Anna first, otherwise this party won't get much votes. But the day when you said, "Main usi seat se chunav ladunga jaha se Sheila Dixit ladengi", I thought u're crazy, u've gone mad. This craziness of yours will effect the future of AAP. But the way u proved me wrong, and defeat Sheila with a margin of almost 25K votes, and proved that Anil Kapoor's film 'NAYAK' was not a hypothetical movie; hats off to you. IIT, IAS, and now Elections. _/\_ Congratualtions to Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan, Shanti Bhushan, Kumar Viswas, Manish Sisodia and all other AAP people.
-Kanishka Singh   Arvind Kejriwal, a man who formed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) – a somewhat witty name that drew out much humour, jauntiness and flush triviality, the most prominent being Robert Vadra’s take: mango people – in the winter of 2012 and was registered by the Election Commission  as a political party only in March 2013, it has been quite a feat.   For an ex engineer turned bureaucrat, with a earnest, even fairly resolute, as some would say, face, with near-zilch charisma in the typical sense of the word, and with nil celeb value and heaps of baggage in the form of the mostly acrimonious and in measures insipid parting with mentor Anna Hazare, who could have given anyone worth her/his salt a run for their money at this time two years ago, it was by no means going to be an easy battle.   Written off more than written about till lately, Kejriwal stuck to a lone theme for most of the pre-election run: his crusade against corruption and endeavour to get out the numbers. Both, parenthetical ...
Delhi votes today, all eyes will be on AAP agencies New Delhi, dec 3 All eyes will be on the fledgling Aam Aadmi Party as Delhiites vote on Wednesday in the assembly elections in which BJP is seeking to stop Congress from clinching a record fourth win. The entry of Arvind Kejriwal's AAP has changed the dimension of the fight in the polls and it will be interesting to see whether the newbie will just be a "spoiler" or win some seats as predicted by opinion polls, riding on its anti-corruption plank. The BJP had deployed a battery of top leaders including L K Advani, Narendra Modi, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari who criss-crossed the entire city addressing scores of rallies asking people to "oust" the "corrupt" Congress dispensation. With participation of almost the entire top brass, BJP's campaign looked impressive compared to Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party mainly resorted to door-to-door campaigning while its leader Arvind Kejriwal addressed scores of road shows. Both Congress and BJP have d ...
BLOOMBERG - WORLD NEWS. Broom-Waving Voters Aim to Sweep Away India’s Elite For India, Arvind Kejriwal is an unusual politician: he doesn’t use a police escort, he won’t field candidates who face murder charges and he publishes the names of those who contribute to his party’s funds. Kejriwal’s campaign against corruption is resonating with voters in New Delhi, shaking up the dominance of the country’s two main political groups and threatening to end the Congress party’s 15-year rule of the city. Some opinion polls show his year-old Aam Aadmi Party may win a third of the seats in a Dec. 4 election, enough to make him the capital’s kingmaker. “His party is transparent and trying to be different on sources of funding, campaigning and fielding of candidates,” said Bhaskara Rao Gorantala, research director at the National Social Watch in New Delhi, which analyzes governance. “Look at the other big parties -- can you find out from where they are getting money to spend so much in elections? ...
Its a fairly long post. Please bear with me. Notwithstanding that I am an Arvind Kejriwal follower and an Aam Aadmi, i want to raise some serious questions on the fourth pillar of democracy. Do we deserve this media is the question? Sad by the tepid reaction of the Indian media in the aftermath of AAP coming clean, as pristine as ever or if i may so more so with some of the footages we have seen. Instead of coming up with "how the nexus of politics and media is working so blatantly" to do their bit to revive their profession, they are coming with things like "aam admi gives its candidates a clean chit" 1. why so passive now? 2. why not hunt those people down who tried to sting Will Mr. Arnab Goswami and the supposedly best media houses in the country, The Times of India, TIMES NOW, NDTV be airing things like Nutan thakur left the party or will they show truth to this country, truth that they deserve? The last part of my argument raises questions on the professionalism of our media. What if Aam Aadmi Party ...

AAP releases party manifesto, another Muslim Appeasement Party, Mask Reveals! Making its electoral debut in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday released a please-all manifesto offering a series of sops, including slashing of power bills by half, special force for protecting women and introduction of Jan Lokpal Bill. In the 50-page manifesto 'Sakalp patra', Arvind Kejriwal led AAP, which has attacked Delhi government over increase in electricity bills, promised to bring it down by 50 per cent by ordering an audit of accounts of distribution companies (Discoms). The manifesto also promises introduction of 'Swaraj' (self rule) to decentralise power in the National Capital. "If anyone refused, their licences would be cancelled, inflated bills would be rectified, electricity metres would be checked by independent agencies," said Yogendra Yadav, head of AAP's manifesto committee, while releasing it on Wednesday. In a bid to woo Sikh community, the party gave an assurance that it will provide justice to the ...
The 'Why are we entering politics' section of the Aam Aadmi Party website reflect Arvind Kejriwal's ongoing battle to fend off the incendiary question that has been lobbed at the party since its inception. At the very outset, his erstwhile mentor Anna Hazare was first to accuse Kejriwal of shamelessly seeking "money through power and power through money", while conspicuously distancing himself from the nascent party. In the aftermath of their public split, Hazare didn't pull his punches, telling reporters that Kejriwal was "greedy" for power: "Earlier I used to think that Arvind is into selfless service. But I don't understand how this thought of entering politics came into his mind." Just weeks before the Delhi Assembly elections, Hazare is back again, making the same old insinuations. In a letter addressed to Kejriwal, Anna wrote, "You have formed a political party and the decision to contest the Delhi Assembly elections is entirely your own. I have nothing to do with your party or any assembly election ...

I have to say today, Congress' Sanjay Jha is a more courageous man than this fraud called Arvind Kejriwal. Despite of all kinds of obvious allegations of scams, lies, appeasement, screwups on his party, Jha shows up on TV debates, gets whooped left, right and center and still shows up for the next one. Today, when caught in bed with a riot monger, the camera-savvy Aam Aadmi Party backed out from making a representation on The Newshour. Aam Aadmi ki tarah darpok aur kayar party!
Terrorist Yasin Bhatkal of Indian Mujaheedin reveals that Ishrat Jahan was one of the Indian Mujaheedin modules. Earlier David Headly of Lashkar had also said that Ishrat was a failed operation of LeT. ^^This comes as a huge blow for all those who had tried to own up Ishrat Jahan. *Arvind Kejriwal – “Ishrat Jahan is innocent, Gujarat kills innocent muslims” *Nitish Kumar – “Ishrat Jahan is Bihar’s daughter” *Congress – “Ishrat is innocent” *Lashkar – “Ishrat was one of our own and innocent” (Later withdraw this statement for obvious reasons) *Aam Aadmi Party leaders - "Ishrat was innocent" Any difference between Lashkar, Kejriwal(AAP), Congress, Nitish, Digvijay Singh, pseudo secular and sick rotten secular etc say? All of them sound eerily similar.

Arvind Kejriwal’s New Promotional video, unlike being a wallet of false promises, is a bundle Shocking Promises. He promises that Aam Aadmi Party will regularize all unauthorized colonies in Delhi within one year. This means that all illegal constructions and colonies are going to be legalized. First, this is criminal and second it’s against the court orders. These illegal colonies were constructed by the land-mafia and corrupt builders over illegally occupied public spaces & Govt lands. What Kejriwal is promising tantamount to giving legitimacy to these land mafia. Mr. Kejriwal should know that these are not just unauthorized colonies but den of corruption. In Delhi, it has created a bribe-chain involving land mafia, local leaders, officials and property dealers etc. First, these land mafia in collusion with local leaders build these colonies, cheat people and sell them, then these chaps have to bribe officials for everything: for water, electricity, MCD etc. By promising this, AAP has erred. .. In t ...

Kejriwal to hang out with US and Canadian supporters Washington: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal plans to hold hang outs with his supporters in the US and Canada later this month, seeking contribution from the Indian diaspora to nation building. Kejriwal would hold the hang outs on October 20, a statement issued through Bay Area chapter of AAP, USA said. "We see expatriate Indians as an integral part of India. They have plenty to contribute to the country in terms of know-how and expertise in every possible field imaginable," Kejriwal said in the statement. "Most importantly, they are eager to give back to their mother land. We will leave no stone unturned when it comes to tapping into this resource," he said. "I am looking forward to hosting this special get together at my home with my friends and family. They are keen on hearing Arvind first hand. I am sure this will have a ripple effect as they carry AAP's message to their respective circle of friends," AAP volunteer in US, Mohan Thirumala ...
Google survey says Narendra Modi most searched politician in India New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is the most Google-searched politician in India, followed by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, a survey by Google India and research agency TNS released on Tuesday said. Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and anti-corruption campaigner, Arvind Kejriwal, follow Rahul. Similarly, the BJP is the most searched political party and the Congress is on the second spot. Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party and Shiv Sena, Sukhee Samaaj Party are the other political parties on the list. The survey, released ahead of 2014 General Election, revealed that out of 37% of urban Indian voters who are now online, 42% have still not decided whom they would vote for. The survey also said that 35% voters believe the local candidate is as important as the political party (36%), in deciding who to vote for. Only 11 percent of such online urban voters would take the ...
They don’t talk to her!! Ravinder Kaur Asks Political leaders to address women's aspirations in their election agendas. It appears that no political party sees fit to have gender on its election campaign agenda. Arvind Kejriwal has a token line on safety, saying women will be more secure if the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power in Delhi. But that is simply cashing in on the dismal state of affairs in the world's rape capital. Strangely, women have disappeared from the discourse of political parties. Politicians pay a good deal of attention to other demographics — youth, middle class and poor — which they believe influence election outcomes. Women are not considered an important demographic, not as youth, not as middle class and not as poor. This despite the fact that, in recent times, gender has thrust itself into the popular consciousness because of the extreme violence inflicted on women. With more women emboldened to report crimes committed against them, there has been an unceasing litany of sexual ...

Some questions on Jet-Etihad deal: Ram Jethmalani | Jet-Etihad deal that should have been of mutual benefit is an out and out corrupt deal. I would like to pay Arvind Kejriwal a flattering tribute for undertaking his great venture in leading the Aam Aadmi Party, the only political formation in India with a core agenda of attacking corruption. In its ultimate analysis, pandemic corruption, as evidenced in India, translates simply into stealing from the people, particularly the poor. Kejriwal's mission of attacking corruption, which displays great courage, confidence and patriotism, should not be maligned or downgraded to a "political controversy". The stark and most miserable form of poverty that exists in India, is not a curse of providence. It is the result of fraud and larceny by political dacoits and their henchmen of our national wealth that should legally and constitutionally be reinvested in our country, for terminating poverty, but lies instead in offshore accounts in tax havens of the world. The a ...

A joint campaign against GM crops, Biotechnology Bill We will oppose the Bill in Parliament, says Yechury Cutting across party lines, several political leaders participated on Tuesday in a joint campaign with civil society groups and farmers’ organisations against Genetically Modified crops and the Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) Bill at Jantar Mantar here. Participating in the campaign CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury declared that he would support the organisers — Coalition for GM-free India — on the streets and oppose the Bill in Parliament. “We do not need a bio-regulatory bill. We need a bio-safety law.” Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal said his party was opposed to genetically modified crops and his colleague Prashant Bhushan had filed a PIL in the Supreme Court against it. “The Aam Aadmi is unaware of GM crops and the BRAI. He/she does not understand it. If they did, then this demonstration site [at Jantar Mantar] would have been milling with people as it concern ...
No arrest in AAP leader's accident case yet Uttar Pradesh Police are yet to identify and arrest the man who tried to kill Aam Aadmi Party leader Santosh Koli by ramming his speeding car into the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon near Kaushambi Metro station here. The motorcycle later caught fire. "Motorcycle rider Kuldeep Panwar has lodged a complaint alleging that it was an attempt to kill Koli. We have registered a case and investigations are on," said Superintendent of Police Shiv Shankar Yadav. Koli is the AAP's candidate from Sundar Nagari constituency for the coming Delhi Assembly elections. She is in a critical condition in a hospital. "Santosh (Koli) has been an active leader of the party in Sundar Nagari. (AAP chief) Arvind Kejriwal staged an agitation from her residence against inflated power bills. She may have been targeted by political rivals," AAP leader said Manish Sisodia said Sunday.
Gopal Rai: A Profile Gopal Rai is one of the most known faces of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is the national executive member of AAP. He is also one of the spokespersons of the party. It is said that he has big influence on the political thinking of Arvind Kejriwal. It was Gopal Rai who first proposed to Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan to take the fight against rampant corruption with a new front – a new political party. Gopal Rai was born 10th May 1975 in Mau (UP). After completing schooling, he joined Allahabad University and started preparation for Indian Administrative Services (IAS). But the destiny had written something else for him. He became disturbed because of the prevailing climate in UP after the Babri Mosque demolition and decided to quite the IAS preparation. Later he joined AISA and shifted to the Lucknow University. He was elected as state General Secretary of AISA. His political struggle as a student leader is still remembered in Allahabad and Lucknow University. Gopal Rai - National Execut ...
Arvind Kejriwal adminvia mail127.us2.rsgsv.net Jun 20 (9 days ago). Dear Anurag Bakshi , If Sonia ji asks me to pick up a broom and sweep, I will do it: Union minister Dr Charandas Mahant (Read news report in TOI) Sadly, after ruling the country for most of the 65+ years since independence, this is the current state of the Congress party. Surely we deserve better. Isn't it time we ended this rule of sycophancy and blind loyalty? Let us vote the Congress party out of power. Let us start with the Delhi Assembly elections. Help us make this a reality by supporting the Aam Aadmi Party. Pass on this message to your friends and family so they too could participate in this effort. Thank you for your support! Team AAP

The Rape of Conscience "If you chose to continue to vote for the corrupt, rape of women would also continue at the same pace"!! With great amusement (for a change) i am watching a ferociously livid Arnab Goswami lambasting Arvind Kejriwal & his Aam Aadmi Party for using this message (as a crude political slogan in Hindi) to serve its political interests well. Despite trying my level best I fail to appreciate why should he be so agitated to discount it as merely use of a 'fear psychosis'. To me, this is a very thought provoking use of (albeit a not so civilized one) a political tool (that's the way it is & that's how it should be perceived as). Arnab himself is pulling from his treasure drove yet another ream of papers brimming proudly with factual data that tells that between Feb & March on 23 days 145 rape cases were registered in the NCR i.e., more than 6 rapes a day!! Quite a numbing stat. Isn't it anybody's guess that indeed women of Delhi really get scared should they have to venture out unescorted b ...

Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal talk about transparency process in selecting its candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi. It claims to have taken the view of people before shortlisting its candidates. I don't know how many surveys were done or how many people contacted except the views of Congress party and Shiela Dixit. The 11 candidates selected so far are mainly people who got famous during Anna andolans. One of them happens to be Shazia Ilmi from R.K. Puram who is a journalist and has worked with the paid media for last 15 years. She says that the Kedarnath disaster is because of too much religious activity at the shrine and people should stop visiting holy shrines. I think no one taught her that the places where these shrines are created became famous for religious faith of the people only. She wants the faith of the major religion of India to end to play dirty politics like her bosses in Congress have been doing for all this time. I would wish her good luck for her electi ...

If Modi and BJP is so strong party and have wonderful performance, then why they afraid of tiny Aam Aadmi Party? Why they worry that coz of AAP, BJP ke vote katenge or may be they lost 2014 election? Do they want to say that BJP is so weak party that it can’t stand alone? It is same as when in any Cricket tournament team India does not perform well in league matches and in semifinal matches look other teams performance and wish if a particular team loss their match or have low run rate, team India has a chance to get into final. BJP’s situation is almost same like that. Personally I admire Narender Modi; he is really a nice n wise man, but BJP as a party is not so good. Otherwise why BJP not announce him as PM? Recently why BJP loss in Uttrakhand, Himanchal and now in Karnataka even after Narender Modi campaign? Also there were not any Arvind Kejriwal or Aam Aadmi Party issue? Source - Alok Dutt Sharma I am not sure in general, how much people are aware of Arvind Kejriwal and the party he has launched a while back called Aam Aadmi Party to give a quick background, Arvind Kejriwal is an IIT-KGP and then served as an IT commissioner in Delhi. While working in the system, he realized the prevailing corruption at every level and when somebody see that they either surrender and be part of the corrupt system or fight against that as an individual in the scope of their job but Arvind Kejriwal did something different, he decided to change the system. He started his journey with an NGO and played a big role in the RTI act. He didn't stop just there and now he has launched a full blown political party with an agenda to change this system. This person has sacrificed his bright career for the nation and now living a life like a monk for a better India. His party is doing some amazing work be it exposing the corruption by high and mighty or be it raising some fundamental issues which impac ...

Attended two good lectures in the last few days. The speakers spoke from their heart, voiced their opinions fearlessly, were thoroughly objective in their analysis of issues and challenges, and won over the audience with their down-to earth manner. Drum rolls please, for: 1. Dr. D. Subbarao, RBI Governer and IIT Kanpur alum, at the IITK Alumni Convention held last Sunday, Mar 3 at IIT Delhi's Dogra Hall. Among fellow alumni, he let his guard down and spoke about the challenges facing India. He also very humbly and humourously linked the economic slowdown with his assuming his position about 3.5 years back (said 2 weeks into his term Lehman Bros folded up, triggering the domino effect worldwide) and his term extension some 6 months ago. There was no reason to, but I found myself taking notes! :-) 2. Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party at the Golden Jubilee Special Lecture Series of BIMTECH, G. NOIDA on Wed, Mar 6 at their campus. My bit of analysis on Arvind Kejriwal... He talks about how it became important for him to fight Lok Sabha elections to further his cause of exposing corruption. This is good and important too. But unfortunately he had to open another political party (Aam Aadmi Party, AAP) for that. That was his only alternative. He couldn't come under the umbrella of an existing party because it seemed they are all corrupt. Now, look at a counter situation in US politics. Elizabeth Warren was hand-picked by President Obama sometime ago to setup the new Consumer Protection Finance Bureau, but Republicans blocked efforts to make her its first director. Warren then turned to a Senate bid. She beat GOP Sen. Scott Brown last fall in one of the most expensive and hard-fought Senate contests of 2012. She is considered to be quite brash with a get it done style. In my opinion, she is being like the early days Spitzer, a plain simple Wall-street Cop. Now, the Indian politics are quite different than the US politics. The GOP (Gr . ...

My friend, our entire political system has become rotten. Most of today’s problems are due to corrupt politics. Unless it is cleansed, nothing would improve. That’s why we had to enter politics – we tried to stay away, but we realized that approach would not work. We have now formed the Aam Aadmi Party. - arvind kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party founder Arvind Kejriwal on Friday criticized Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for amending the Goa Lokayukta Act. Speaking via video-link from New Delhi, Kejriwal said, "The amendment by Manohar Parrikar is meant to protect corrupt people." Kejriwal said, "There isn't any greater effort to protect the corrupt. It appears the government is going out of its way to protect the corrupt." He added that this was the first time in India that a deemed rejected clause has been introduced in a Lokayukta law as usually the Lokayukta's report is deemed to be accepted. Criticizing the amendment providing for a steep fine of between 1 and 10 lakh for frivolous complaints, Kejriwal said the threat of fine and jail was unacceptable as it was clearly against the CrPC which makes it the duty of citizens to point out corruption.

She was donating that money because she wanted to see a corruption free India. She exhorted everyone to participate in this struggle.

Arvind Kejriwal Hum log har rally mein chaddar ghumate hain or logon se donation mangte hain. Logon ke iss daan se hi hum elections ladenge aur jeetenge bhi. Two days back, in Dwarka rally, a poor woman donated a Rs 5 coin. The woman had a hope in her eyes - that this time, India would change! That now, their miseries would end. It brought tears to my eyes. This woman never donated a single penny to Congress or BJP. Her Rs 5 donation is far more superior to us than even a Rs 5 crore donation from a Tata or Ambani. It contains her hopes and blessings. Our public rallies are drawing huge crowds everyday. The crowds are increasing by the day. People have huge hopes from this revolution, the Aam Aadmi Party. It scares me many times. It means a huge responsibility on our shoulders. I always pray to God to give us the strength and wisdom to always do the right thing fearlessly with all humility.
